I played Double Dash for the first time just after Christmas and I can honestly say it’s a blast. The 2 characters in a kart is very unique and creative, being able to choose what kart you want is an excellent addition to the series, the tracks are the best example of “quality over quantity” in the series to date having 16 tracks but all of them being at least somewhat enjoyable imo, there double item boxes and special items that are character specific which are both brilliant, and the All Cup Tour is absolutely genius. I’m not a fan of Super Mario Kart though I respect it for starting the series and I enjoy both 64 as well as Super Circuit but I can’t recommend either over later entries. Double Dash however is truly the first time in the series where I can say that I truly love a Mario Kart game. Now is probably a good time to mention that the Special Cup in this game is actually one of the best cups in the entire series. Seriously its track lineup absolutely incredible.
I completely agree with you about Super Mariokart. And it did inspire many of the tracks we have today in mariokart 8 deluxe. Thanks for writing such a thought out responce!
