This is a great list. The biggest tip I have for affording life on one income is to plan early, when you and your husband go to buy your house, buy one that you can pay the mortgage on one salary. We were both in the medical field with two good paying jobs, instead of buying a big house to reflect our salaries, we bought a modest home and when we had our babies, I could stay home with them

That is excellent advice. It saves you from having to try and sell a more expensive place down the road in life to make being a stay at home mom work.

I am 69 divorced been supporting myself for the last 22 years started Social Security in May of 2020 saving 20% of that every month I don't even keep a TV plugged in and I have 3 in the house. I thrift store and garage sales even when married with children. I do a lot of markdown and clearance shopping at Kroger like you do get my books from the library. I have two daughters 46 and 42 neither married or have children they are savers and do a lot of the same things that you and I do for saving money. I've never felt that I needed to shop online I've always said if I can't find it local I don't need it and so far that has worked for me. I think you're doing a fantastic job with your Thrifty tips

Thank you! You’ve also got a wealth of your own frugal tips and knowledge. I also love your saying that if you can’t find it local you probably don’t need it! That can be so true.

I'm a mother of 8 and have been a stay at home mom for almost 23 years. I still have 4 children at home. It's difficult at times but so worth it. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

@@homemadesunshine24 yes it is a HUGE blessing. I'm not sure if you are planning on having a large family but if you do, you'll never regret it. Your house will be full of lots of love and lots of chaos.💕

Thank you for all the wonderful tips and tricks. I especially love the travel tips finding free things to do in a day. I love the idea of the art museum being free in your local area and other fun activities. Thanks for sharing.

Oh my goodness then you make the third person to have a traumatic pedicure experience that I have heard about! What a horrible thing to happen right at your wedding time!

I’m retired and stay home with my mom. My husband works. We have little money to spend but I rather stay home. I’m going to collect Social Security at 62.

I appreciate what you’re sharing, but you seem like an intelligent and striving person, and it would be a shame if you don’t get to use your curiosity and intelligence to their fullest extent. It’s okay and even good for kids to see both parents striving toward their goals.
