I loved Mithrax's story about Saint-14. In the cutscene when the lightning flash made the "monster" appear on Saint-14, I got chills. I also liked Namrasks journey of redemption. Too bad we will most likely never meet him in Game. To see a former Kell up close would be very cool (assuming he would still have kept some of his size.)
I think if we do see him, Namrask would still be the same size. Based on dialogue from Mithrax's daughter, ether causes a type of metamorphosis and as far as I know those can't be undone.
Honestly, the season's subject matter was better suited to something bigger. Like either expansion level big or overarching story kind of big. That's because stuff like PTSD and even a long history of violence between two completely different species/cultures are fairly heavy kind of subjects that weren't exactly given the time they needed to feel like they were resolved in a semi-realistic time frame or even given the proper respect. The entire season was 'House Light good, Lakshmi bad' despite past actions by the Eliksni and the fact that Lakshmi was someone suffering from PTSD.

The Eliksni are one of my favorite races from Destiny, and I just love seeing the lines blur between them and those of the city, and hope to see more development like this, making me feel like there is some redemption to the Eliksni from what we initially saw of them
I like how Saint calls Mithraax the Kell of Kells in the final battle, acknowledging perhaps the fulfillment of that prophecy of a Kell that could unite all the Eliksni
I love especially, how the aesthetics of Saint-14, and the Splicers/Misraax, mesh together so well. It's a magnificent thing that "Vaporwave Badass" just encapsulates both of these guys.

I think Lakshmi and the Factions mutiny wouldn't have happened if she had been smart enough to have compared the Machine to "The Monkey's Paw"....or ever once thought of how easily we butchered Kargen in The Inverted Spire in spite of what she had learned via mind-forking.
Considering that Savathun has been spreading her song throughout the city, with effects that we are still uncertain about, the coup attempt probably would have still happened.
Byf, I missed the Season of the Hunt and couldn't help but notice you didn't make a story recap for it before the arrival of Season of the Chosen. Were it convenient for you, I think as a viewer I would be very thankful to see a recap of those events as they could be crucial to what we may see in either Season 15 or Witch Queen
Just in case Byf doesn't make a recap, I'll write down a brief summary of what happened during Season of the Hunt for you :) it was fairly light in terms of story, but there were some important story beats nonetheless. 1. Shortly after the events of Beyond Light, Zavala received a message from Osiris that he then told to our guardian. Osiris had been investigating Hive cryptoliths that started appearing on the Moon, when he was attacked by a massive Hive knight. This knight was the High Celebrant of Xivu Arath (Xivu Arath being the Hive god of war and sister to Savathun). As Osiris told Zavala, the High Celebrant killed Osiris's ghost, Sagira, leaving Osiris lightless. Note that we never saw this happen, so we're assuming that Osiris is telling the truth here. 2. We went to the Moon to try and save Osiris, getting our first glimpse of the High Celebrant. We managed to find Osiris, who greeted us before a Hive knight snuck up behind him. Right before the knight could kill Osiris, though, another guardian stepped in and saved Osiris' life. This guardian was a New Light; he called himself "Crow", and was in the body of the former Prince Uldren (though with no idea who Uldren was). 3. Crow took us back to the Tangled Shore, where Spider was waiting for us. Spider informed us that the cryptoliths were a tool of Xivu Arath and her High Celebrant, used to corrupt Eliksni and Cabal and effectively turn them into "zombies" with no will of their own. In other words, she was corrupting herself an army. Spider said that he'd let us work with Crow to hunt down and kill the High Celebrant, and that if we killed it, Spider would give us any one of his possessions as a reward. 4. That brings us to Crow's relationship with Spider. When Crow was resurrected as a guardian, he was lost. Every other guardian he encountered would murder him for reasons he didn't know, so he was left wandering the reef with nowhere to go. Spider took this opportunity and gave Crow a place to stay, as long as Crow worked as one of Spider's henchmen. And just to be sure that Crow wouldn't try to run away, Spider planted a bomb in Crow's ghost that would kill it if Crow strayed too far. 5. We spent most of the season hunting down Xivu Arath's corrupted army (or Wrathborn, as they're called) to try and locate the High Celebrant. During that time, we got to know Crow better, and came to terms with the fact that Crow and Uldren are two separate people. We even befriended Crow. 6. Eventually, we located the High Celebrant in the Dreaming City. Our guardian and Crow worked together to corner it in the ascendant plane, where our guardian killed it. The death of the High Celebrant was a major blow to Xivu Arath, and would stall whatever her plans are substantially. 7. Going back to Spider, he congratulated us and thanked us. Then, he offered us any of his possessions as a reward. Without hesitation, our guardian told Spider that we wanted Crow. Spider was pissed, but a deal is a deal, so he removed the bomb from Crow's ghost and told us, "get the hell out of my lair." We had bought Crow's freedom, and now he could return to the Last City with us to try and begin anew there. There was also the side story of Hawkmoon and the Harbinger mission. The big thing worth noting about that story is that Crow started receiving visions from the Traveler, something that hasn't happened since the vision our guardian got at the start of the Red War campaign after losing our light. We don't quite know what this will lead to, but it's worth noting because it means that Crow is a very special guardian. I believe Bungie has big plans for his character. Hope that helped :)

Nice little summaries of what was important during the season, all ready for a quick review before/as you write the script of the complete story!
I love at 2:55 when he sidetracks during his “escape” from the Vex network to grab that Blue Engram. Lol. Also thank you for the recap, didn’t play much and helps me get back into things next season.
The final mission for the season was so good. We've had so many unique encounters with the races in destiny during this calm before the storm. It was nice to see that we genuinely are going to try and be getting along with the Eliksni.
I wasn’t able to play this season because life comes first. However, I wanna thank you for these recaps. They’ve been helping me keep up with the story of Destiny during my absence from the game. Also, am I the only one who sees some similarities between Mithrax and Arbiter Thel ‘Vadam from Halo in terms of story and origins. I can’t be the only one who sees that.
Byf these recap videos are a huge help to me! I dont have a lot of friends who play this game anymore, so I miss the occasional season. I love the story however; it's why I keep coming back to it. These videos help me catch up on what I missed. Greatly appreciated content!
I fell off destiny midway through last season, the grind was just too much, but hearing the recap, my God it just reminds me why I absolutely love this game, it's lore and in particular the hard questions this season presented, just absolutely amazing
To be honest, I stopped playing Destiny during this season because of how crazy the grinds can get now, but I always tend to look back at how the story progresses in this game, and now with the livestream for the next expansion coming out soon, these videos are a great review on where we are lore and story wise to help me (and many, many others) catch up on what we missed. Please do more of these!!

For somebody like me who loves the story of destiny and loves your channel. but tends to come and go from destiny I really appreciate this video, and you may already do this but would love to see you do this with every season.
I liked this recap. I was lost on what Osiris was up to until now, so it really helped someone who just came back to Destiny and rushed through this season.

I am *so* thankful for this, I had only just gotten started with Season of the Splicer when my computer got stolen as I moved across the country. I'm finally getting the chance to replace it and am eager to jump right back in to the world of Destiny 2!!
This was the first season I participated in and completed. Usually I’m not good at coming back to a game week after week even if it’s for a single quest. I think it helped that I really enjoyed Override and have always like Misraaks.
I absolutely love that they kept the quests around from Season 14. I didn't play for a couple months, but I logged in after this week's patch and was disappointed at first because I thought I missed a bunch of content. Turns out I can still do everything I missed! Makes me wonder if the new Timeline feature is going to eventually be a launcher for Legacy content.
I had not played Destiny since the Forsaken (didn't even avenge Cayde, I just left), and when I came back I found out there was so much I missed to the point I was a bit upset about it (watched lots of Byf videos to catch me up XD). I am glad I came back in time for this season, it was a beautiful story. I will try my best from now to make time for it now because even if I left early, I still told everyone it was my favorite game

This is was great please keep this up. Really enjoyed hearing all of this, I for one really enjoy Destiny Lore but when i’m in the middle of playing something i get real into just playing that I skip a lot of Dialogue so I miss some stories this helped
Missraks truly is the Kel of Kels. He turned the Kelbreaker into an advocate for House Light through the power of effective communication. A true peacemaker. If there's ever a new consensus, House Light needs to be a part of it.
Byf man i was on deployment for 8 months in 2020. Prior to that, the entire Year of 2020 was filled with so much stress and bullshit I missed a lot of D2 story. so you doing these videos? and the overall lore video thats 4 hours long? it's fucking great man. Really makes me sad that Imissed these moments, but happy I can learn about them to keep myself in the loop on the season of the lost.

Her goal may not be malevolent (freeing her people from the Worms), but Osiris is too set in his ways to consider possible outcomes or deviations from his perspective

Lmao i came back to D2 and this season starting in the week that saw Override in the Eliksni quarter and will never forget hearing Saint shout how they are his people, to a few seconds later back at the HELM to progress the season story and have him basically spitting on the Fallen
Considering the Speaker died a few years ago, and it’s been mentioned a few times, albeit barely, it’d be interesting if Mithraks and later his daughter were chosen by the Traveler. I could easily see a new council of allies against the Darkness, with representatives for our allies factions, and a wise scribe that holds faith in the Light, like Eido, becoming the new Speaker.
Maybe they did this already but it would have been awesome to see some lore about the Eliksni witnessing crucible matches for the first time; to see guardians die and revive in front of them.
I left destiny 2 following curse of Osiris/warmind. They lost me due to the story telling not investing the player in the lore. My purpose in the game was to collect guns and armor and max my light level. When that was met there was literally nothing to keep me playing. Byf your lite readings and videos honestly pulled me back in, Bungie has a terrible way of communicating the lore to the point that I am not going hunting for it so really appreciate what you provide.
A: "You are my people!" is also my favorite moment from the season B: His name is Namrask now. The Crow is the Crow, Banshee-44 is Banshee-44, so Namrask is Namrask. C: I wish we got to see Namrask in the ending cinematic. He dosn't need diolague, they just needed to stick a Kell-sized Eliksni close enough to the action that we can make him out. Maybe as the guy that Saint-14 helps up. Although honestly, he would have been a good named character to kill off in the cinematic, as much as I'd have hated it...... If they don't have anything to do with him after this, then it would give those of us that read the lore-books a name to put to the deaths.
He will always be that Kell that started the war that ruined his people, that led to the necessary repellant and crusade of Saint. That is something Namrask will have to live with, name or no. But we needn't remind him, rather allow him to attone

We are first revived with new names, and no memories, no baggage from our past lives. We can start over regardless of who we were, or who they killed. In season of the chosen, when we boarded the glycon, we heard the Entity/Darkness speak through Uldren Sov's voice. I've only ever head the E/D speak through Ghost, or in the voice of someone who was dead. To me this illustrates the separation between Uldren and Crow. When Glint found his guardian Uldren stayed dead, and the Crow was born. In beyond light we learned that exo's get a similar second chance. That cut off from his past life Clovis-1 was able to forge a new path forward for himself, but with his old name still attached, he couldn't shake his old memories. When they came crashing back in, he chose to give up them both, and be reborn again as Banshee-44. In season of the chosen, in the Empress Lorebook, We see a symbolic death of Caiatl, where in simulations, she died and died again to leaver her life of a princess behind, and be reborn as a solider. Namrask isn't just a name, or a disguise, its an identity. Namrask still has his memories of being Akileuks, but he is Namrask, for as long as he can choose to be. Who are we as guardians, to deny another their rebirth.

@@Pendragondnd idk where you’re getting this from, but ether is directly linked to growth, also the term “life cycles” don’t really apply when they are biologically immortal. Kells, which are overfed with ether become even triple the height of humans, whereas your typical healthy Eliksni specimen is normal Captain sized. The forms of dregs and vandals which are more akin to (my assumption here) Eliksni children, but as adults, are a result of ether rationing and starving. Given too little ether, any Eliksni would begin to shrink back to the size of a dreg. From the first page of Achilles Weaves a Cacoon: “He comes to Europa almost the size of an Archon, but hollow. He needs Ether. If touched, he fears he will crumble into nothing. His arms will dock themselves, his skin will shed.” Also I always thought my name was rather uninventive
Misraaks is one of my favorite characters. Honestly feel there is more depth there than the current Vanguard leaders. Who's stories are just staples you always find in fantasy or sci-fi.
Thank you for your work Byf I tried to play this season but Lakshmi-2’s rambling put me off from giving this season the time of day. I was overly excited for the fallen joining us and hope to someday create an Eliskini Guardian.

I haven't played Destiny in about a year. Season of the Worthy was the last I played. Coming back now and having a video like this is awesome.

Absolutely I'd love a post-season recap from you! Been too busy, and still fighting burnout on Destiny as a whole to enjoy the game myself, so having this to keep me up to speed on the story and lore is very much appreciated!
For somebody like me who loves the story of destiny and loves your channel. but tends to come and go from destiny I really appreciate this video, and you may already do this but would love to see you do this with every season.
I liked this recap. I was lost on what Osiris was up to until now, so it really helped someone who just came back to Destiny and rushed through this season.
This was awesome.
For someone like who did play this season's story and only picked up my controller a week ago, I now fully understand what went down over this last season.
Recap is much appreciated for those of us who don't have time to dive deep into it during the seasons. Barely finished the "campaign" of the season, so this was informative.

I am *so* thankful for this, I had only just gotten started with Season of the Splicer when my computer got stolen as I moved across the country. I'm finally getting the chance to replace it and am eager to jump right back in to the world of Destiny 2!!
This was the first season I participated in and completed. Usually I’m not good at coming back to a game week after week even if it’s for a single quest. I think it helped that I really enjoyed Override and have always like Misraaks.
I absolutely love that they kept the quests around from Season 14. I didn't play for a couple months, but I logged in after this week's patch and was disappointed at first because I thought I missed a bunch of content. Turns out I can still do everything I missed! Makes me wonder if the new Timeline feature is going to eventually be a launcher for Legacy content.
I had not played Destiny since the Forsaken (didn't even avenge Cayde, I just left), and when I came back I found out there was so much I missed to the point I was a bit upset about it (watched lots of Byf videos to catch me up XD). I am glad I came back in time for this season, it was a beautiful story. I will try my best from now to make time for it now because even if I left early, I still told everyone it was my favorite game

This is was great please keep this up. Really enjoyed hearing all of this, I for one really enjoy Destiny Lore but when i’m in the middle of playing something i get real into just playing that I skip a lot of Dialogue so I miss some stories this helped

Byf man i was on deployment for 8 months in 2020. Prior to that, the entire Year of 2020 was filled with so much stress and bullshit I missed a lot of D2 story. so you doing these videos? and the overall lore video thats 4 hours long? it's fucking great man. Really makes me sad that Imissed these moments, but happy I can learn about them to keep myself in the loop on the season of the lost.

Lmao i came back to D2 and this season starting in the week that saw Override in the Eliksni quarter and will never forget hearing Saint shout how they are his people, to a few seconds later back at the HELM to progress the season story and have him basically spitting on the Fallen
Just got back into Destiny; picked probably one of the best seasons to jump back in.

This was actually one of my favorite bits. That whole conversation, really.
Considering the Speaker died a few years ago, and it’s been mentioned a few times, albeit barely, it’d be interesting if Mithraks and later his daughter were chosen by the Traveler. I could easily see a new council of allies against the Darkness, with representatives for our allies factions, and a wise scribe that holds faith in the Light, like Eido, becoming the new Speaker.

Maybe they did this already but it would have been awesome to see some lore about the Eliksni witnessing crucible matches for the first time; to see guardians die and revive in front of them.
More recaps! I joined Destiny only in the season of Hunt and I'm terrified of how many good stories i've missed!
I left destiny 2 following curse of Osiris/warmind. They lost me due to the story telling not investing the player in the lore. My purpose in the game was to collect guns and armor and max my light level. When that was met there was literally nothing to keep me playing. Byf your lite readings and videos honestly pulled me back in, Bungie has a terrible way of communicating the lore to the point that I am not going hunting for it so really appreciate what you provide.

B: His name is Namrask now. The Crow is the Crow, Banshee-44 is Banshee-44, so Namrask is Namrask.
C: I wish we got to see Namrask in the ending cinematic. He dosn't need diolague, they just needed to stick a Kell-sized Eliksni close enough to the action that we can make him out. Maybe as the guy that Saint-14 helps up. Although honestly, he would have been a good named character to kill off in the cinematic, as much as I'd have hated it...... If they don't have anything to do with him after this, then it would give those of us that read the lore-books a name to put to the deaths.
He will always be that Kell that started the war that ruined his people, that led to the necessary repellant and crusade of Saint. That is something Namrask will have to live with, name or no.
But we needn't remind him, rather allow him to attone

The main way that we see this is through our Guardians. We are first revived with new names, and no memories, no baggage from our past lives. We can start over regardless of who we were, or who they killed. In season of the chosen, when we boarded the glycon, we heard the Entity/Darkness speak through Uldren Sov's voice. I've only ever head the E/D speak through Ghost, or in the voice of someone who was dead. To me this illustrates the separation between Uldren and Crow. When Glint found his guardian Uldren stayed dead, and the Crow was born.
In beyond light we learned that exo's get a similar second chance. That cut off from his past life Clovis-1 was able to forge a new path forward for himself, but with his old name still attached, he couldn't shake his old memories. When they came crashing back in, he chose to give up them both, and be reborn again as Banshee-44.
In season of the chosen, in the Empress Lorebook, We see a symbolic death of Caiatl, where in simulations, she died and died again to leaver her life of a princess behind, and be reborn as a solider.
Namrask isn't just a name, or a disguise, its an identity. Namrask still has his memories of being Akileuks, but he is Namrask, for as long as he can choose to be. Who are we as guardians, to deny another their rebirth.

@@Pendragondnd idk where you’re getting this from, but ether is directly linked to growth, also the term “life cycles” don’t really apply when they are biologically immortal. Kells, which are overfed with ether become even triple the height of humans, whereas your typical healthy Eliksni specimen is normal Captain sized. The forms of dregs and vandals which are more akin to (my assumption here) Eliksni children, but as adults, are a result of ether rationing and starving. Given too little ether, any Eliksni would begin to shrink back to the size of a dreg. From the first page of Achilles Weaves a Cacoon: “He comes to Europa almost the size of an Archon, but hollow. He needs Ether. If touched, he fears he will crumble into nothing. His arms will dock themselves, his skin will shed.”

Why does the song “Lean on me” fit so well with this season
Misraaks is one of my favorite characters. Honestly feel there is more depth there than the current Vanguard leaders. Who's stories are just staples you always find in fantasy or sci-fi.
Thank you for your work Byf I tried to play this season but Lakshmi-2’s rambling put me off from giving this season the time of day. I was overly excited for the fallen joining us and hope to someday create an Eliskini Guardian.
