So so sad for A’s fans. F’n sucks.
I blame all the owners for this disaster as well. I want to call a complete boycott of the 2024 year for all fans for all teams. Do not allow them to have your money. They can suck it.
There’s enough blame to go around: the city, the city council, the voters, the mayor, the A’s FO, Fischer, the fans…, everyone’s to blame here.
Thank you for this wonderfully crafted vlog. It's so heartbreaking to realize they are gone after this season.
Fisher and lew wolff wanted fremont and san jose years ago. They only came back to their rooted in oakland farce after those destinations werent possible. Screwwed up laney college and finally howard terminal pursuits. And not building at coliseum site was an option for them. I feel back stabbed as a loyal fan for decades
“It was all SO avoidable” about sums it up.
If Oakland had built a new stadium for both the Raiders and the A's they would still have the teams... Oakland didn't even bother to refurbish the old Coliseum...
If you want to talk about loyalty to the Bay Area, none of this would have happened if the Giants hadn't stabbed the A's straight in the back out of pure greed. Don't ever forget their role in this after it was the A's who made sure the Giants could stay in the Bay.
because they ceded the sj territory?
the a's didnt see the future
giants didnt owe them squat
@@thewkovacs316 For real. Tired of A's fans blaming the Giants for their problems... Plus, how silly does that sound? A's fans really thought the Giants would help the A's out in all of this? LOL
@@86byrdmanGiants are nothing more than Gordon Gekko corporate lackeys when they were on the verge of moving to TB
I remember going down on the field for fireworks with my kids years ago. That field didn't have one blade of grass out of place. For as crappy as the coliseum was that field was pristine. Thats what I'll remember....and this "Now batting center fielder Dave Henderson" from the Voice Of God. RIP Roy Steeele.
My uncle works there in that crew. Who cares, ill say it…he told me he knew about all this, the first year Kaval showed up…let that sink in. F uck them
The utter shame is the Oakland City Government who, instead of stepping back and letting the JPA negotiate and keep politics out of it, had to make a political show of force and ask for unrealistic things like "the colors" and "the name" and "a guarantee of an expansion team". The team did not have to leave. It decided it was better to get out of an unfriendly place to do business with fans that detest them.
DEMONIZING Fisher didn't win any brownie points with MLB, or for that matter MiLB.
@@ronclark9724sure but that's the thing, the fans love the team and it's city not the ones taking it elsewhere. Doesn't that show how much the fans care? Anyhow now the A's showing their true colors, kicking the city while they are already down by yanking jobs for 3-4 years and getting NorCal fans to argue over scraps. On the one hand just tear off the bandaid, but on the other hand pouring more salt. I didn't know what a stadium lease is supposed to cost and city strong arming them wasnt the way to go. But the A's have been strong arming Oakland and the Raiders for all these years.
@ronclark9724 the more you talk the more you stroke your e-penii. Trying to be a diehard internet toughie Josh?
And how come Newsome didn’t step in and try to resolve this issue? Didn’t he speak on it awhile back?
Wow, nice graphics in the video! Damon is already doing big things in year 2 of the Pluce!
A's owner proving to be terrible. They could've had a Bayside stadium by now. Instead playing in a minor league park for years hoping for a tiny stadium in Vegas
That is simply not true. There are still several obstacles for the Howard Terminal location
Howard Terminal wasn't going to be much larger...
Best Case Scenario 4 Oakland:
- Oakland Seals hockey @ Coliseum Arena
- - coliseum for concerts and auxillary events like super bowl and soccer and occasional Cal football or whatever
- Sacramento Athletics
Oakland is dying, and local officials have no desire to crack down on crime. The A’s weren’t the first to leave, and they won’t be the last
Sacramento is just as bad as Oakland I can tell your not from the bay or sac , sac has a million fentanyl knocks living on the street as well , Oakland has always been the same since the A's have been here
Crime has been going down. Stop blaming it on the city. It’s not on them for the A’s leaving.
@@ROMSKIVISION exactly , Oakland has always been Oakland it's never been any different in the 60 years they have been here
@@AlWaYsFrOmThEbAy never had the opportunity to experience Sacramento, I have had my car broken into in Oakland,,thankfully I escaped California, I highly recommend it.
I understand what you are saying but the A's mean more to not just Oakland but the east bay and beyond NorCal, they have meant so much to its fan in all decades.
Oakland just isn't a friendly city. Not for sports or for the law abiding citizens. But A's ownership should have treated the employees better. Definitely out of touch to doing the right thing and just plain morally wrong
Oak-town is a friendly city. Great people. But aware citizens here know they should not give the farm away to billionaire owner, who should have paid to maintain his business location, let alone paid the lion's share of a new stadium costs.
@@USC9210 A lot of shop and restaurants along with other businesses feel differently. There seems to be an awful lot of bad apples and the leadership, well that's another story now isn't it.
@@USC9210it’s a nasty dirty city full of crazed thugs
While this is all true that the City/county dropped the ball, the A's and Raiders are equally complicit and in the end leaving Oakland to dry. I know it's not their job to help the cities problems but de facto it is. They enjoyed the privilege to represent the city and make money off the fans so they help the community in many tangible and intangible ways. Small retail businesses moving out makes sense bc they simply can't survive, but a sports team doesn't suffer the same way. In the end it sucks they move, but did they have to kick the community while they were down? They already save money by not fielding any stars, Oakland's offer was just a starting point and they immediately walked. At the least they shouldn't be tanking and yanking all the jobs they know very well that the people need even for 3-4 years in an atmosphere that's on a down slide. I just think it's sad that fellow Americans would just want to see a city die and laugh at it.
@@paulbegley1464San Francisco is no better
Where can I get Oakland A’s gear before it’s all gone
Johnny is the lost love child of Art Modell
I want to know what kind of a deal NBCS cut with the A's on this move. Because without one, the A's could not move to Sacramento.
I just can't care about baseball anymore. Where do you start over being a fan of another team? "So avoidable"
When after spending 38 years in baseball purgatory without a affiliated minor league team your city lands another affiliated minor league team after you finally build a new minor league stadium. Google Amarillo Gold Sox and Amarillo Sod Poodles... Google Potter County Memorial Stadium and Hodgetown. The Amarillo former mayor that lost the Gold Sox was the leading advocate for building the new minor league stadium being honored with his name on it. He didn't say, they won't be missed...
A’s grounds crew is the greatest grounds crew of all time
Team management just filed for copyright and patent on Sacramento A's.
They’ll always be the Oakland A’s to me
Duces to the owner of the Oakland Athletics that shall not be named. He's a real POS. Asshat should leave the A's brand in Oakland, and take relocation fee to move to LV. He's just after the "revenue sharing" dollars. #ClayWood #MarkRazzum
Today is a SAD SAD DAY FOR OAKLAND
🖤💛
City of Oakland has failed its sports teams, new stadium in Vegas is gonna be nice
New park in Oakland would of been nicer. Outdoors beats a freaky armadillo dome.
D Bruce!
The END of OAKLAND the city
Yet, Oakland's mayor said, they won't be missed...
@@ronclark9724this is what happens when you vote 🗳️ for woke lunatics
Oakland is too ghetto that's why. A lot of crime and fast food chains closing because of it.
Free Agency started in Oakland. Player and Franchise. The Midgets didn't do anything to help also.
It's the end of the world as we know it,
It's the end of the world as we know it,
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine!
-- R.E.M. (circa 1987) 😎
Is there anyway to keep the name and colors in Oakland?
I don’t believe so.
Who's surprised? Raiders gone, Warrior's gone, In n Out gone. But the A's leaving isn't Oakland's fault?
It is your fault for this shit show, not mine. MLB is expanding soon, maybe we should attempt to land an expansion team or one of their minor league teams. But Oakland's mayor said, they won't be missed...
Your either part of the problem or part of the solution......
Wait till Fisher moves to Vegas, the residents don't want him! Manfred will own this. You think attendance sucks in Oakland, wait till you see it in Vegas😂
Damon, would you be able to resist the urge to slap Fisher or Kaval if you were within arm’s length?
So tempting.
Where’s the outrage from former A’s players like: Reggie Jackson, Rollie Fingers, Gene Tenace, Jose Canseco, Mark McGuire, Dave Stewart, Rickey Henderson(especially him), etc?
Where are they? Why aren’t they organizing a boycott or speaking out against this? Smdh.
They want the invite back one day.
@@damonbruceplus They should stick by their morals. They remember when the A’s were a winning brand. No need to sell out when this ownership doesn’t care and fans in Vegas wont have any emotional ties to those players.
Wow just wow. . I can't believe MLB doesn't realize they have a clown owner . .
That's because the "other" owners are clowns too...👈💯🤷♂️
Who cares they lost over 100 games last year. The city is a No Go Zone...Reality
It isn’t Fisher, it’s the terrible fan base and the horrible stadium. The fans don’t show up, plain and simple. They can’t sell out playoff games, for god’s sake. The average attendance this year is under 4000, but it was under 10,000 last year. Want to get the team to stay? Show up!
You are as wrong as humanly possible.
@@damonbruceplus I have watched fans not show up for more than 50 years. What am I wrong about? I’ve watched playoff games that were 1/2 empty. I would have moved 20 years ago. It’s a business. No revenue if fans don’t show up. No concessions, no souvenirs, no team gear, nothing. From what I’ve read, the tv contract sucks, too.
This is a story with no "good guys". Oakland city/county, A's ownership, Major League Baseball...all bad guys. MLB could have let the A's move to Fremont or San Jose, but declared (SJ, at least) "Giants territory". Well, congratulations MLB, now the tens of thousands of A's fans have been given "the finger" by MLB and the A's. Fine, fuck 'em all. Bye, baseball, your death keeps accelerating forward.
Hahahahah 😂 Chokeland
And remember ladies and gents, we're not boycotting the A's, We're boycotting this so called "owner". Get his ass out of ALL sports team ownsership.
Officially the Triple -A’s !! Oakland is a the worst city in the Bay Area . They don’t even deserve the Ballers. Oakland will never get another Pro franchise the way it is now!!!
Especially when the mayor said, they won't be missed...
The guys you mentioned in the beginning of your video have nothing to do with the Raiders or the Warriors leaving Oakland. I'm sorry for the fans but the county and elected officials of Oakland have caused this. It will be a long time before major professional sports returns to Oakland. If you only blame Dave and John for this, it's more like blindness. I know it's an easy way to cope, but it doesn't even acknowledge the real elephant in the room. Oakland itself.
I was there in 1985 when 10,333 rabid Kings fans made Larry Bird miss two free throws in the 4th quarter. We got this
Have you seen all the people leaving California? Do you see the fear of even Californians of going to Oakland? I’m shocked the A’s stayed as long as the did. And the employees? Oh dear lord, how many other employees have an entire year’s notice? As a retired tin knocker, you usually don’t get a notice at all, just two checks and a hand shake. No professional sports team is a non-profit organization, the ONLY reason they exist is to make money! Why don’t you talk about in-n-out who just closed the only store they’ve ever close, in Oakland, because it’s too dangerous to do business there? Why don’t you talk about Kaiser who tells their employees to not leave work for lunch because it’s too dangerous there? The voters of the Bay Area are getting what they voted for.
John Fisher could have been part of the solution. He chose not to be.
raiders gone, warriors gone, As gone oakland is a cesspool
Don’t know why anyone is surprised by this. If you’re upset about this you should leave California for a bit and see how the rest of the country operates. Yeah, our weather is t as nice but literally everything also we have is exponentially better than anything in California. You, Californians have run your own state into the ground, don’t be surprised when people leave.
It's heartbreaking. I eventually supported the Vegas move because I just got tired of the decaying politics in Oakland. The bottom line is this: Oakland is knee-deep in its problems. Take care of the city first. Let's not rely on a sports team to resove all the ages-long problems of vicious deterioration. We need to clean up the city. Rebuild it, and secure its citizenry. Then, we'll talk sports franchises. And, of course, I'm still hoping we can keep the "Athletics" name somehow so we can revive it in the future.
What a mess. And like I said earlier, it's heartbreaking.😢
Know what the hottest temp in Vegas is? 113 F elevation. Sacramento? 116 with a humidity index Vegas doesn't have. How long do you think the Players Union is going to let that happen? Either back to Oakland or up to Salt Lake I would think.
@@MountainFisher but don't the Diamondbacks go through the same or similar temperartures? Besides, I'm pretty sure they would put that under consideration when they start designing the stadium.
@@MountainFisher MLB and the Players Association demanded the Texas Rangers play Sunday afternoon games in temperatures over 100 degrees in Arlington, Texas. The Rangers senior citizen owners and most of their fans preferred playing games in the evenings, even on Sunday. The players association could care less about the fans, their travel arrangements is all what mattered.
Oakland elects far left activists. This is what you get. Sacramento may end up keeping the A's after Vegas falters.
@damonbruceplus you're old enough to know AL wanted his team in Vegas! Bad take.. This is a landlord problem and California is the landlord.
Oakland are the landlords. Now they have an arena and a stadium without major league tenants. I wonder how long they will stand without tenants?
I like how the A's were stuck with Oakland's s-hole problems. The fact is Fisher was probably the only owner dumb enough to try to get a stadium done in Oakland. The signing of that 2014 ten year lease was a surrender to Oakland, after they were trying to get a stadium deal in Fremont and San Jose. Oakland still couldn't get it done. And Oakland still couldn't milk three more years of the A's in their city to generate revenue.
I'm a fan of the A's, not Oakland. I hate the Giants, not San Francisco, for hogging the territory and not letting the A's remain in the Bay Area. Now Oakland is the Giants territory and they are going to be the most powerful c-blocker in Oakland ever landing an expansion team.
I do have issues with Fisher because he's seems like a Donald Sterling. He'll field a crappy team and milk the built-in revenue he gets from TV deals and other revenue sharing, not care about winning. But we don't know definitively what type of owner he is yet because he's always had the Coliseum albatross as an excuse.
you can’t force the fkn owner to sell his got damn team, tf is wrong with people
No, but the other owners can see that he isn't well received and vote to force him to sell the team. They do it in Football all the time. If they other owners start seeing a dip in their pockets because the A's aren't making any money and are costing them money to keep propped up they'll intervene.
@@kyle013100 and did that happen? no. Fisher is such an evil owner that even after the announcement to relocate to sac, no other owner spoke against the move
@@kyle013100 That's not going to happen when the city makes absurd demands throughout the whole process.
It started with demanding high levels of low income housing on a luxury waterfront development and ended with demanding ownership of team IP, asset sales and exclusive rights to things the team doesn't even control over.
This has been the core issue throughout this saga, Because Fisher is a dick everyone wants to pretend the city are somehow the good guys.
If the city wasn't run by anti-business activists the MLB might have actually forced Fisher to sell, But they won't force a sale when the city is half the problem.
Take a look around Oakland, the A's aren't the only business leaving. The city government is toxic.
@@louiscypher4186 Spot on...
You cant call John Fisher shameless until you do a look hard look in the mirror because you are also shameless Damon. You don't care about Bay Area baseball you only make videos on the A's or Giants when its fits your narrative. You never talk A's until the move you never talk Giants until the don't renew their PA lady. The A's fans didn't go to games no normal person should feel sorry for them, they played around with these "boycotts" and they found out the hard way. Oakland is a poorly ran city and that's me putting it nicely, once the Raiders left it was a matter if not when the A's would leave. When your city cant get In-and-out and other business you dont get any pro teams
You’re working though a lot buddy. Talk it out, you’ll be ok.
@@damonbruceplus I’ll be better if you and the rest of the Bay Area talking heads talk about the A’s situation with facts and not with emotion
A lot of teams represent big cities with time of problems. Certainly Oakland is near rock bottom, but do their teams leave bc of the crime and poverty in their city? Not really. If anything they help hold their spirits together. I get that it's all about money. Lv has more opportunity right now and the SF teams can hold down the Bay without Oakland teams. But taking away what was the few good things and keep kicking it while it's down probably bc the pride on both A's and the City officials can't negotiate. I get it on the money end, but really they shouldve swallowed the pill to help Oakland community as much as they could now that they are leaving as to take the high road instead have it's own fan base argue over scraps.
Nobody cares
Then just watch and shut up.
