HAVE YOU DONE A VIDEO THAT ADDRESSES UPDATING THE SOFTWARE? GOING TO THE NIGHTLY DOWNLOAD PAGE DOES NOT PRODUCE AN .EXE FILE?
If you're using a nightly GitHub requires you to login. Upgrading is easy as overwriting with the latest release
@@SignalsEverywhere I have an account and logged it still does not give any file to download
Great video! I had already recently replaced SDR# with the far superior (IMHO) SDR++. But I hadn't checked out the server aspect. Way cool that a single server (no config, just run it) will allow remote access to any supported SDRs. Switch on the fly between SRDPlay, Airspy and RTL, without doing anything on the server-side. Love it!
Great job, in getting this all out there in 'clear' information.
Well done 🙏🧡
You are so helpful. I wouldn't know about this if not for you. thank you! gonna try this out today
Glad you liked the video, let me know if you run into any issues.
I shall. This will be interesting. I'm going to install on a system that runs openwebrx. I won't be running them at once. If I like this better I may retire owrx
Thanks for this! Got it running and love it. The one question I have is, how do you get the server to run all the time? My goal is to just have it running all the time and utilize the server whenever without having to ssh into the pi and start the server each time. It would be nice to have the server autostart after a reboot as well. Any resources on how to do this? Thanks again!
"nohup sdrpp --server -p 5555 &" did it, not sure on autostart yet but this at least keeps the server running after you exit the ssh session.
Is it possible to remotely do the same thing on an Android or IOS device? It would be great to control and listen to my SDR via my phone or iPad. Thanks for the video!
The developer is working on an Android release, I'll be covering it once it comes out. My understanding is that yes the server will function under Android as well
@@SignalsEverywhere Thanks for the info! Looking forward to the android release.
@@SignalsEverywhere Oh man! I’d sure love to see an iPhone version of SDR++!!!
@@SignalsEverywhere And, I understand that iOS devices don’t have native USB hardware support. But, it would still be awesome to have a version of SDR++ for iOS/iPadOS that could connect to an SDR++ Server, rtl_tcp, or Airspy Server. Current offerings for remote SDR clients on iOS are horrible.
You are wonderful! Lost Mary in the waves...
Thanks for the video. I still have one unused PI laying around and I will give this a try.
Greetings from Essen, Germany
Holger, DL0063SWL
Thanks for watching, I hope to hear it's successful for you!
Excellent work! Keeping this for future reference.
Thank you, let me know if you have issues down the road :)
Raspberry/Linux Noob here. Thought I was clever to install 64bit Raspberry Pi OS just to find out the SDR++ executable doesn’t work there. When trying to run it, it only said No such directory or file found but it clearly was there under /bin. Found instructions to install 32bit support on 64bit OS but couldn’t get it to work. Downloading 32bit Raspberry Pi OS now. Keep fingers crossed.
Otherwise, thanks for these easy instructions.
Tried installing on 64 bit Pi os months ago and had the same problem. Looks like we are stuck in the 20th century until further notice. 32 bit os works great though.
Looks like you need a github account to download nightlies had an old one i haven't used for a while but still works. I'm downloading on MacOS now to see if I can get it to run on Kali Linux 104 is ok.
Yeah Github made that a requirement at some point for.... some godawful reason.
How is this server different from existing RTL-SDR, RTL-TCP, AND RSP-TCP servers?
Better compression and support for more devices, what you listed supports only 2
I feel like a noob asking this but how do I find out my port number for the windows server setup? 9:16 Thank you!
You make the port whatever you want with the -p flag, same as you do on Linux
I meticulously followed the directions and could not get this to work on the raspberry pi. I get down to the last step of running the SDR++ server, pi reports: no such file or directory ??
If you can link to or share a screenshot of the full message Im sure we can figure it out.
Discord link in the description if you want to chat somewhere we can more easily share screenshots
I have exactly the same problem - bash: /usr/bin/sdrpp: No such file or directory
Could this be because I am trying to join the 21st century and use the 64 bit Raspberry pi OS. I noticed that you downloaded the 32 bit version.
@@canoeheadal did you end up figuring that out, same issue here
@@canoeheadal Edit, figureed it out, downloaded the wrong bninary from the site, Should have been raspberry pios buster instead of debian buster
All the videos i find is within the local network. I want to set it up far from my location and listen to it from home. I provide the raspberry pi with a wifi hotspot from a mobile network. Any chance to make a video of that?
4 months on and v1.0.4 is still the latest version? Surely by now v1.0.5 should be available without having to get a "nightly" build using a github account??
Developer has been busy with college, some things are just more important.
Server must be on another computer? So far not able to run it on same PC ...Will try more
Sure you can run them together but it makes 0 sense to have a server that you only use on your local machine.
@@SignalsEverywhere Sure. you are right.I did try to see it working. Will use spare small pc. Thank you for enlightening.
How do I setup the SDR++ Server on my 1st pc for my 2nd pc to connect to 🤔
You need to run SDR++ in the terminal to do it. sdrpp --server --port 12001
Page 57 of the manual explains it: www.sdrpp.org/manual.pdf
@@SignalsEverywhere Cheers thanks for the reply.
Isn't there any way to make a remote SDR server on a on a laptop??? I don't want to use a raspberry pi, could somebody explain how to do this or why it wont-work....
Of course it'll work on a laptop, I showed how to do it on both windows and Linux and it's very similar for OS 10 as well.
Raspberry pi was used because it's a computer with Linux and it was easy to grab for the tutorial
I think something has changed because I don't have a .deb file!
Can I connect to a SDR++ server that is at another location that I own? If so what is the procedure in getting it to run?
You will need to port foreward the server or connect to it via vpn or wireguard.
What's that transmission at 8:32? I hear these all over the place but haven't been able to identify them.
It is rtty. Sorry for the late response lol, but its basically the first digital mode. Good for text news coverage
Version 1.0.4 has never worked with me. Starts to load then crashes
This only works in 1.0.5, what operating system are you running on?
I'm not the developer but I am quite familiar with the application.
@@SignalsEverywhere Windows here
That's odd, yeah I would see if you can go though the log details and see. Their discord server may be the best way of support sdrpp.org
@@SignalsEverywhere Oh right ok thanks. With a windows 11 pc I built it works fine however
Could you open an issue on the github with details about your issue or hop on the discord server?
Issues don't fix themselves. If they're not reported there's nothing I can do to fix them.
Hey there, will there be an online map of server links to allow anyone to connect to remote hosts like with Airspy server map or KiwiSDR server map. Thanks.
The developer has mentioned this but it is not currently available at the time of this video.
What's the secret handshake to find anything later than 1.0.4?
You have to download the nightly Link in the description
@@SignalsEverywhere Thanks! Got it. Sorry, I find Github incredibly convoluted for a non-programmer to navigate.
Microsoft didn't do any favors when they bought them out either
When will the main download be updated to 1.0.5? currently its at 1.0.4 last updated October 21. The nightly has no download even when logged into Github
the nightly builds have downloads, scroll down to "Artifacts" and click the one for your OS.
@@ryzerth I was also looking for a nightly DL, but couldn't find.
As you mentioned I scrolled down to 'Artifacts', there is a list with versions, but not clickable, so not downloadable for me.
@@Digi4u you have to be logged into github for the artifacts to be clickable. Github limitation, not my decision sadly
8:25 ...tell me about it.
When I run the server, I get "invalid command line option -p"
I am running v 1.0.5 on a Pi4 32bit. In the nightly builds, I only see a 64 bit version.
@@charlierubenstein4141 A link to the nightly builds would be good as the nightly download tab takes me somewhere on github that there are no files to download
I have also tried the x64 windows build, and get the same error.
@@charlierubenstein4141 where did you get the x64 windows nightly build?
@@gibsonmb1 I've answered, but my replies are being deleted. I guess they don't want the link on here.
Free internet ???
Not with this application.
N2KTO DAVE .........I'M RUNNING 1.0.3, SOME HOW I MISSED HOW TO UPDATE TO 1.0.5? ANY HELP WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATED. GREAT VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1.0.4 is the current release, as of this video 1.0.5 is a nightly release but will be a normal release shortly. You can get the 1.0.5 update here: www.sdrpp.org/nightly Backup your config but generally just copying the updated files over should work just fine.
@@SignalsEverywhere Did they remove the nightly build? The link doesn't provide any downloadable files, thank you!
GitHub has begun to force individuals to be logged into the website in order to get binaries from a nightly release
@@SignalsEverywhere appreciate it!
I am not sure of the point of this video. Unless you provide a link to the direct download of the sdr++ v1.0.5 software. Otherwise no one can benefit from this video. And the earlier version cannot use the server?? So please provide the link to download this version
Links are in the description, all of the software is freely available for anyone to download
This App needs to be Fix, don't Work well with the Pluto SDR,
That frequency entering on the top is the stupidest design i ever seen you have to keep clicking on the top of the number to go up on the bottom half of it to go down so counterintuitive and unuserfriendly 🤕
Not only are there multiple modes/entry methods but, it's the same default as most other SDR software.
If you hate it here, you hate it everywhere.
Hi All, does anybody knows how to resolve the problem on Raspberry Pi 5 (but I tried 4 too, I tried lite, full, everything): cmake .. -DOPT_BUILD_SDRPLAY_SOURCE:BOOL=ON -DOPT_BUILD_NEW_PORTAUDIO_SINK:BOOL=ON -DOPT_BUILD_M17_DECODER:BOOL=ON brings the error message: Package 'libzstd', required by 'virtual:world', not found . I cannot add the library at any way.
The video is a bit dated, maybe I need to update it. You're trying to compile SDR++ server on a pi is that correct?
These days you should be able to install sdrpp on the pi and run sdrpp --server --port 12001 to setup the server on the specified port.
@@SignalsEverywhere hi, I know my mistakes now :). I tried to do it on raspberry pi 5, then I tried to do it on raspberry pi 4 with 64 bits bullseye. The solution is 32 version
Now it works. many thanks.
