Duane Allman and Dickie Betts will melt your face off before you even knew what happened!!!
Lol...so true
I just saw the Allman family revival with the Allman Bett's band and friend this past January here in Las vegas, they were awesome.
Allman Brothers Filmore East is considered by many to be the best live performance ever recorded. No matter the genre.
Absolutely, no argument
This is from Live At Fillmore East. Arguably the finest band ever assembled.
You know it's true.
No arguments here. They are the best!
Allways top 3 of any list of greatest live recordings.
Cant disagree with that, ccr and led zeppelin are right there in that argument as well, love them all
To each his own but I'd take Lynyrd Skynyrd over anybody
There's no Allman Brothers like LIVE Allman Brothers.
I would throw in studios songs too!
STORMY MONDAY!!!
Live at Leeds the Who
AMEN.
2 singers, 2 guitarists, 2 drummers in rhythm, bass and organ. Live! No autotune. Real musicians. Totally soulful.
Greatest Blues Band ever. First heard them back during my tour of Vietnam in 1971.
Welcome home, brother!
Thank you sir for your service to this country
I saw them the first time in Piedmont Park when I was 8 years old. Duane ALLMAN is the reason I picked up the guitar! 🍑🍄
Brad and Lex you just listened to the greatest rock/blues singer and without a doubt the greatest slide guitarist ever - in my humble opinion. Gregg and Duane Allman.
You're not wrong. The brothers are irreplaceable both in voice and musicianship.
@@jackndew2 Thanks, my brother Brian!
Duane was the reason I picked up a guitar and tried for years to learn all of his solos. My main rig still has paper coned CV ER123 speakers into a Marshall 68 JMP50 1986. That man was special there was no doubt.
@@3John16 you need to find a glass cold medicine bottle.
@@anthonyfoutch3152 I actually bought an authentic 60's era Coricidin bottle years ago. I was surprised that it didn't make me sound like Duane. It sounded like a cat was in pain until I actually learned how to use it 😉
You can never go wrong with Allman Brothers.. started out great stayed great through to Greg Allman’s passing
Yes sir. The Derek Trucks Warren Haynes Bros. were pretty good indeed. Both have great bands now too.
A classic, and recorded live, no stops, or retakes, playing instruments and singing! Old school talent!
And no effing auto-tuner -
Greg Allman's pitch was immaculate.
Hope you guys will check-out (as in react to) their song SWEET MELISSA
Duane took the slide, added jet engines to it and rewrote the book on electric blues guitar. Add Dickey’s masterful playing and songwriting and I’m in audio heaven.
Dickey Betts was amazing a lot of people think Dwayne played lead but it was Dickey Betts after he left the band he formed his own band called The Dicky Betts Band check them out pretty amazing.
Saw him at the metron in Harrisburg PA which was always called a dark and grungy bar great place to be. 😜
If you dont know of him check out Tommy Bolins solo stuff. Try the Pleaser album first. Another great slide guitarist that left too soon.
a song I never get tired of hearing...makes my top 10 list year after year!! ....and no one utilized the dual drummers like The Allman Brothers!!
Molly Hatchet did well with them. The Doobies have multiple percussionists too.
Grateful Dead too.
The Allman Brothers percussive thunderclap of God
@@Hobodeluxe960 The Doobies now have an Allman percussionist......Marc!
The Allman Bros. set the bar for Southern Rock & they set it real high.
Brad & Lex, Their "Melissa" and "Jessica" are next for you!
Live acoustic version of Melissa
Stormy Monday!!!
I would agree except they should go thru “at Fillmore East” first, including the songs carried over to “Eat a Peach”.
Here I am sitting right by the birthplace of southern rock at the Allman Brothers Big House in Macon Georgia just chillin, gettin some good "head change" & enjoyin the day when ironically yall break out one of the greatest bands ever & one of my favorite jams! The "Eat a Peach" album was the last one featuring Duane who died a few months earlier in 1971! The peach was a quote from Duane who said "you cant help the revolution because there's just evolution & every time I'm in Georgia I eat a peach for peace" - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS ✌☮
And I'm down here in Florida just a few minutes from Dickie Betts' home. Gregg used to live around here too at least some of the time. Back it the 80s I ran into Gregg a few times in some of the local stores.
@@CarltonNoles right on man
The 2 legged Georgia kind. lol
@@anthonyfoutch3152 Being as I am a Georgia boy {2021 National Champs} & a lifelong bachelor I hunt white tail all year long
One of the best little slices of the Allman Brothers you'll ever hear! And there's some killer slide guitar there for you, Lex.
Correct, one regular guitar and Slide Guitar, which is what U are hearing Ms. Lex.. ♠W.G.
Glad to see your generation enjoying my music. I'll be 74 in February. DOO WOP , 60S , 70S. UNTIL GREG WAS TALKED INTO PLAYING PIANO AND LEAD SINGER HE WAS GOING TO BE A DR. I THINK HE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE
Allman Brothers Band was a gift to all of us.
Marshall Tucker Band - Can't You See - 9-10-1973 Grand Opera House is awesome, very good southern rock band also
I saw them in 2000 and they put on a hell of a performance. Surprisingly heavy too.
Rambling’ is even better!
@@TheKayzieMichelle To each their own
They are amazing live. They say the Allman Brothers are southern rock but they played more blues than anything else.
You are correct, they actually didn’t want to be known as a Southern Rock band.
The Blues got pregnant, had a baby, and they named it Rock and Roll.
You are very right. I tell people that Rock and Roll came out of the Mississippi Delta.
@@RenR70 Gregg said in an interview once that rock came from the south, so calling it southern rock was the same as calling in 'rock rock'...
@@buckfan1969 that's why the R&R Hall of Fame should had been in Memphis !!!!!!!
One of the the best bands ever assembled. I grew listening to them and seeing the live many times. They were a mainstay down here New Orleans.
Listened to this as a teenager I am now 70 years old. So funny to watch you two react to all of these songs I listened to as a young man. Something you two should be aware of, when we were listening to these songs all of those tears ago, we did not care about what they were trying to tell us. WE were stoned, please remember that.
Best live album in the history of music. PERIOD
when i lived in S.F. 1973 i used to go to concerts at Winterland theater, before the musicians started , this song was playing
Yeah! More Allmans. He played guitar just like ringin a bell.
Southern Rock at its finest. You hear that slide on that guitar, that's what I'm talk'n bout, so so good.
What did I miss? True to form Brad. Llex as usual, on point. Seeing the Allman Brothers Band back in the day was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The Fillmore East made it all the more special.
I had about 20 once in a lifetime experience and i am sure i met Gregg and Duane when they went to military school in my hometown.
dickie betts les paul tone is incredible, what a solo. then there’s dwaynes slide 😳
Allman Brothers lit at the Fillmore is in the Library of Congress.
best southern rock band period
I get so much pleasure watching the two of you exploring and enjoying music that I have loved for decades.
I always know when my gal is going to start head bobbing before she even knows. I love this girl so much!
One thing the Allman Brothers mastered is the art of playing dual synchronized lead guitars. Another interesting fact about them is that Butch Trucks, who was the original drummer's, nephew Derek Trucks actually played with the band from age 9-19!
Well, that's close.....Derek became an "official Brother" in 99 when he was 20 and stayed until the end in 2014. He did sit in during those years mentioned.
@@tommathews3964 ruclips.net/video/ssQtybVv1-o/видео.html
It's a long interview but my info came from the horses mouth.
@@tommathews3964 just start the Derek Trucks Interview at 23:22.
Great description by Lex with the Hush puppy analogy about Gregg Allmans sultry vocals. Plus you can tell how much she digs the great guitar work of Duane A and Dickey Betts.
The best guitar duo ever. Duane and Dickey pushed each other every song they played together.
These guys had talent to burn. When Duane Allman finally convinced his little brother Gregg to come and sing for the newly formed band Allman Brothers Band, Gregg had never heard them play before. He said in his autobiography when he walked into the rehearsal room and heard them play for the first time he almost collapsed. He said he'd never heard anything like it and was just blown away.
Hush puppies! 😆 Definitely southern. Southern rock with blues. And typical slide guitar in southern, blues, country music.. They were a great band, many good songs. 🎶 Southern rock had a huge explosion in the mainstream during the '70s and '80s.
That's the badass Duane Allman doing the electric slide action. He died in his late 20s from a motorcycle accident I think but he had a helluva sound. He was very much inspired by Elmore James.
You got that right on Greg Allman's voice is incredible. His older brother Duane Allman played slide. He was killed before this album was released. He died from a motorcycle accident. oddly one year later the bass player, Barry Oakley died on his motorcycle in roughly the same neighborhood as Duane's wreck.
Any song from the live at Fillmore East album. My personal favorite is I must’ve done somebody wrong an old Elmore James song. He also wrote one way out with Sonny Boy Williamson and another guy.
Gregg Allman had the most soulful, bluesy voice ever. Y'all should check out some of his solo work, especially "Turn On Your Lovelight" on his Live Gregg Allman Tour at Carnegie Hall. He really shows off his voice on that one. Also, his Laid Back album is greatness all the way through.
The live video of this song is great. 2 drummers.
I absolutely LOVE that you're checking this out!! 🙌🏽💃🏻🔥❣
I love the music and lyrics, "So raise your window baby, I can ease out soft and slow, And Lord, your neighbors, no they won't be, Talking that stuff that they don't know". I think the neighbors will be talking.
Thank you, I always wondered what that lyric was! Raise your window!!
Southern Rock was all the rage back when, Allman Bros the quintessential Southern band. I met Greg forty years ago, shopping for flannel shirts at NYC Bloomingdale’s …with Cher…who helped me select a shirt for myself. True story.
Gregg
@@anthonyfoutch3152 …you’re right, but I got Cher spelled correctly. This was pre Elijah Blue.
@@edwardrutledge2765 usually i never correct anyone but for some reason this drives me crazy. lol
@@anthonyfoutch3152 I need loads of spelling corrections; no offense taken.
@@edwardrutledge2765 when i was in grammar school i either took first or second in spelling bees. now that i am an old man without spell check i am lost.
This song is from the album, “Eat a Peach - Dedicated to a Brother” and was released soon after Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was riding too fast and ran into a truck that had turned left in front of him. Duane said that whenever he was in Georgia he always ate a peach for peace. Sadly, their bassist Barry Oakley was killed about a year after Duane was killed in eerily similar circumstances: on a motorcycle and less than a mile from where Duane was killed, if memory serves. Duane was only 24.
For some strange reason, I always wanted to stop and ride by that spot on my way to Daytona, but never did. Always slipped my mind. Spiritual intervention perhaps?
@@pb68slab18 ruclips.net/video/xTiQs2DcuuY/видео.html
Gregg said he died from an OD the same day Duane died but they brought him back.
Two fabulous guitarist in this bad - Duane Allman on slide and Dickey Betts the other lead work…fantastic back and forth…just amazing!
That's some down home southern music. Allman brothers right here from Georgia. Thanks for the feeling
"Eat A Peach" year 1972 is one of the best live albums of all times !...but the studio part is at the same level !
I remember my pops having that record on vinyl.
recorded right here in Macon Georgia & was the last album featuring Duane!
You speak truth and wisdom, Sir.
@@soakedbearrd yeah...I still have the album, cherished like my girlfriend's first love letter !...in my time we were used to exchange letters !
@@SquirminHermanthe1eyedGerman Unfortunatelly...R.I.P. Duane Allman !
Duane Allman's work on slide guitar is a thing of beauty.
The Allmans ,especially live ,don't play songs..I mean it may start out as a song, but it turns into an all-out jam session!
My folks were post hippie generation and listened to these type of bands while I was growing up and I'm happy I was exposed to these bands at a young age, it helped me to become the musician I am today. Great choice guys!
You gotta check out the Statesboro Blues! It’s their best song IMO and the best version is the live one from Fillmore east
That you Don?
@@humboldtharry4248 nope, not me!
@@tramvis2521 Yeah sorry to bother, different friend of Jerry. 🌜💨
So glad a realtor is finally checking this out. It's one of my favorite Allman Bros songs. Love the dueling guitars by Dickie Betts & Duane Allman. Statesboro Blues is a must.
The amazing thing is that this is live and these dudes are in their early twenties
Blackberry Smoke has to be next on the list. A great southern rock band that not many people react to. They do an incredible cover of this song, but then again, they have so many incredible songs. You'll thank me later!
Love me some blues. This song is just flawless.
Brad, the smile on your face said it all.
Oh you youngsters! I'm joyful to see you discovering the classics. Music has saved my life in more ways than one.
As soon as the track started, I could tell it was from the Fillmore East show. I might have listened to this a couple thousand times. I feel confident enough to say that most die-hard classic rock fans would consider this album one of the top 10 recordings of all time. The entire concert is remarkable...lots of long jam sessions in the middle of songs. The guitar work at this show is face melting.
Need to listen to Stormy Monday by the Allman Brothers live great music blues music
Anything Allman Bros HAS to be live.
"Oh baby I just don't know..." on this track fits your outro theme! Best. Channel. Ever. Thanks you two.
The Allman Brothers Band......🔥🐐! The OGs of Southern blues/rock!💯🤗❤✌
I have been spamming for this song for 6 months and glad you finally got to it. They used to play the Beacon Theater in NYC every March for 20 nights. I miss those shows so much, every year I would hit at least 4.
“Please Call Home” next ♥️ Do it for this old woman from NC 🎤🎸🎼 You will love it! It’s very touching ♥️ Allman Brothers are a live band. You’re missing a lot of the experience by not watching live 🤘🏼
Hey guys what's up! Greetings from South Florida! Dickey Betts and Duane Allman are one of the greatest guitar Duos of all time. The way they intertwine and go back and forth with each other is awesome. The whole band rocks! You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!
that bans was gone way before it's time, and those vocals all the solo's in the song, and the instruments all making a great harmony of sounds and rhythm rhythm rhythm,
The vocalist is Gregg Almann - great singer. His older brother is Duane Almann, lead of the band was playing slide guitar. This is considered to be one of, if not the best, live albums of all time. There are two amazing drummers. One they brought over from an famous jazz band. These guys liked each other - they hung out. They were all “brothers”. I think that’s a big part of the magic.
They honestly didn’t fit into one genre. If you listen to more of their music - you’ll see what I’m talking about. Stormy Monday is a beautiful song - but might be too long for your show.
I saw them in the summer of 1980 @MSG it was the Crazy Love tour . Bonnie Bramlett on background vocals. Atlanta Rhythm Section opened for them . One of the best concerts that i've ever seen.
What was mind blowing, they had 2 drummers.Saw them in 1971they played for 3 hours. And the tickets were $7.00 SD
Being born and raised in New Orleans back in the day the Allman Brothers played at the once revered Warehouse on Tchoupitoulas St so many times that they were considered the house band. Sure do miss them days.
the allman brothers are really a church soul band/rock& roll band dont get much better than that love your reactions!
Some of the greatest road trip music ever created. Gotta love the Allman Brothers.
My road trip music, the whole Filmore East concert is incredible.
"Maybe people feel less." - Lex. Food for thought. One way out, one of the all time great live performances. Look forward to more Allman Bros. reactions.
Allman Brothers - Live at the Fillmore is absolutely on my "Desert Island" Top 5 of all time regardless of Live or Studio - A true masterpiece. If I narrow down to just Live recordings, it's a fight for #2 spot with Stones - Get Yer Ya Yas Out. All of "Fillmore" and most of "Eat a Peach" were recorded during the same tour at the same place. The interaction of 2 Top guitar players and 2 top notch drummers is just a diesel express train rollin' down the tracks.
Got to know them when I went to college in Macon,GA and they lived there. They would come on campus 3 or 4 times a year when they weren't on tour. Gregg and his brother Duane, Barry Oakley, Dickey Betts, etc...were all great musicians!!
My favorite Allman Brother’s song! That slide guitar! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Another Classic from the Allman Brothers
Glad you guys heard this and liked it, it's my favorite song by my favorite band! Another killer song off of the same album is "Statesboro Blues", a powerhouse of a song!
Southern rock appreciation by our youth... I love that Lex... and Brad notices just how hard it truly is to be a good guitar player... Dickie Betts and Dwayne Allman are #SouthernRockGodRoyalty ....... thumbs up and more please!
the best rock band ever. the Fillmore album , what can I say.
Great White “ House of Broken Love “ !!! Your gonna love them !!! Your gonna love the vocals and guitar 🎸 Brad!!!!
Allman brothers. The Founders of southern rock. Period. Duane Allman, one of the best slide guitar players ever. Dicky Betts, fantastic country and blues player. Greg Allman, incredible voice. All great musicians. Two drummers, Berry Oakley on bass. Lots of tragedy, lots of fame. Check out "Blue sky" and "In memory of Elizabeth reed" Yeah, he's trying to escape in the song.
The live at the Filmore East album is the only album to be on the registry of historical events. If you ever find yourself in Macon,GA, their house is a museum. It’s sacred ground for sure.
"There ain't no way I'm going out that front door. Cuz the man down there, there might be your man . I don't know."
"He sounds to me, like he likes hush puppies". Lex 😂
God bless the Allman Brothers
"He sound like he like hush puppies" I adore you for saying such a thing.
Statesboro Blues, Whipping Post, Melissa are a must
We’re on hallowed ground here! Welcome to one of the most classic old school southern rock songs ever. Next up on your plate should be Blue Sky off the same album (Eat a Peach).
Love ya both. I've said before, Lex your smile and laugh is contagios...thanks much.
Eat a Peach was the album..One of the first I ever bought in the day. Memories.
Best Live group ever! Southern R & B. Duane Allman died young, brother Gregg kept going solo. EXCELLENT Music!!!
Can't help but to smile . . That's some good stuff.
I love this recording. You could get whiplash listening to Duane Allman playing slide guitar. Mercy.
The song was actually first recorded by Blind Willie McTell sometime in the 1920s-30s.
Duane Allman and Dickey Betts arguably the best electric guitar duo ever. Two words: Whipping Post of the this same album.
Nobody rocked the house like the Allman Brothers.
One of the greatest bands ever. You're listening to Duane on the slide guitar - he's the best ever at that style. And Dickey complements him perfectly. Such a great set of musicians on one of the best live albums of all time - Live at the Fillmore East. This is from Eat a Peach but recorded at Fillmore East shows.
I saw them 3 times in the 90's and they could rock
This is blues rock for big boys. Ain't no pop here. 🔥
