The third pronunciation starting at 10:14 is the correct way to say “Ginja”🤣🤣 Also, what’s the weather like right now in Central NC? I cannot wait to spray quinclorac but Connecticut is still running in the mid 90’s. I heard it can damage the turf when applied at very high temps… Another great video!
Upper 80s into 90's here. Where I sprayed it though, little fescue on the property line. Label also lists TTTF as "Highly Tolerant", so I think you'll be fine if you use labeled amount (.36 per 1K)
@@MrFergusonLawn good to know thanks! I never did a full reno of my property since moving in last year, so I have a mix of cool seasons throughout. Currently a lot of fine fescue/KBG/PRG, which I believe are more sensitive. I overseeded with TTTF last fall and the goal is to continue doing so over the next few years. So for me, I have about another week or so before temps start to come down below 90 (at least that’s what the weather app says).
Yes it’s a combo of ginger because of the red hair and ninja GIN JA Crabgrass is funny , it has stages past 5 tiller it gets hard to deal with , but it does die in winter and turns a reddish purple , the problem is it seeds like crazy and will break thru . Best thing is some triad qc and tenacity will vaporize it . Best to wait and pull it in September then overseed like crazy , something that spreads like RTF RPR or CSI helps as after a year or two you have hundreds of rhizomes filling in thin areas We have zoysia and it strangles weeds so really no need but in cool season it’s a nuisance and barricade stops it from coming thru . The Andersens make some great stuff !
Yes, sir! So, as always, I am a little bit late. Triplet (which I use as well, generally speaking) and QuinClorac is a great pair (for CrabGrass). Not many people know about this combination, so props to you, Mr. Ferguson, for mentioning this pair. Job well done (as always)!
Looks like you are burning that crabgrass up pretty good.. The only thing I would do in addition is to go by and grab all of those seed heads off of them before they dry up and end up back in the ground.. It may be a small help, but I see your neighbors yard is full of them.. Just keep in mind for spring that pre emergent is the best way to keep crabgrass out of your lawn.. Getting ready to do a full glyphosate burn here and start with some "boutique" seed.. Keep up the good work!
Mr Ferg, nice results. Im thinking your going to need to expand those beds. Maybe after you get that crabgrass removed, you might think about making those beds larger. Eventually your evergreens will start growing over the bed into your grass. Also, its lawn “Ginga”. Like ginger, Gin - Ja…Ginger is a slang for red head.
Thanks Devin. Yea we are aware the beds will need to be expanded as they grow, but on the pronouncing part...yea...I'll never get it right haha. Thanks man!
I just sprayed acclaim extra mainly for japanese stilt grass but it’s also labeled for crab grass and I have some of that too. I’m waiting to see how it does
I do not. To be dead honest, I have no idea what that even is Joe lol. I take that back...I believe I've heard that before but no idea what it is or what purpose it serves.
@@MrFergusonLawn The product label on my quinclorac says to include MSO. It's basically a surfactant/adjuvant that supposedly helps penetrate the waxy coating on grass blades and makes the quinclorac more effective. I haven't sprayed my crabgrass yet, so I don't know if it works...just wondering if you've used it and noticed a difference ☺
Prodiamine. You can find it here. It takes a super small dose per use. This size bottle is best as a big bottle is not needed. I didn't know this when I started and bought a gallon! That's a lifetime supply. shrsl.com/42czf
It's pronounced "Jinja". Like Ginger. Can you use the same pre-emergent on landscaping as you do in the lawn? IE, could I spray some Prodiamine down on my mulch? I know Preen makes a weed preventer for gardens. It uses a chemical I'm not familiar with.
It's not really digging it out, it's more removing the dead weed. The seed pods can drop in the lawn, so killing it should make it easy to remove, but as mentioned, this may not "need" to be done. Spraying may knock it out like other weeds. That's why I asked too! Main point being, it could come back I suppose if it's not removed either by spraying, pulled, or both.
Just did an application of speed zone and quincolrac. It smoked the crabgrass within a few days. Worked amazing.
Awesome! Yea it works really well. Good to hear.

I have used Quinclorac 75 DF and it killed some very mature crabgrass it is my go to

Another great video. I need to introduce my crabgrass to some Quinclorac soon.
Haha yes yes. Arrange the meeting and watch it squirm 😈
In the label it say you can seed after 7 days. Your thoughts?

Oh yea, fully aware. That’s why you only see it there and not in my lawn lol. Thanks man! We have a update soon.
@@MrFergusonLawn maybe sling a little extra pre-em your neighbors way.. 🤣

The ginger ninja hense gin ja. Keep in mind he talks about quinclorac turning it purple you added triple so your results will be a bit different
Did you use methylated seed oil in your quinclorac blend?

Good question! I’m not exactly sure on that Matt. I would imagine it would work but never took the time to find that out. I’ll look it up.
If you need to dig it out anyway why waste your time and money spraying it?
