    I installed Office 3D on my Windows laptop. However when I try to import a .dwg file from all the menu selections that do it, it does nothing. I am able to view the .dwg file using the the Autodesk Viewer so I know the file is good, although the Viewer app says that the .dwg file wasn't created by Autocad. Any suggestions?

      Apologies, I don't claim to be great at making the videos. I've tried to make it louder but haven't had any luck. I've corrected it in future videos and definitely check it now prior to upload.

    Is there anyway to generate cut fill volume in office 3d? I would much rather do that on my data collector but since it isn't one set elevation I don't think I can on the data collector. Thanks

      You can do it in Pocket 3D.
      ruclips.net/video/F-WM8Ma59FA/видео.html
      I don't have a video for Magnet. You can also do in Office 3D as well.
      If you have the surface in Office 3D you can create a plane surface at a desired elevation. The go to TIN - Compare Current TIN Surface - With other surfaces in this project.
      It will be greyed out unless you have two surfaces. Once you select both surfaces it will calc the volume. Be aware that it is easy to get them backwards so your cut may show as fill, or the other way around if so. You can redo, the numbers should be the same.
      If you're calc against a surface with a lot of pavement or something. May want to consider a subgrade surface file if quantities are critical. Let me know if you have issues.

    Thanks for the video, could you please post a link to the office 3d software?

    How do you Load Pocket 3d on to your computer? Sorry I'm new at this and leaning what all it can do.
    thanks

      No need to apologize, this is why we do this. Pocket 3d is typically loaded onto a data collector. A data collector is usually a ruggedized windows or Android tablet that works with your rover in the field to allow you to set and check grade.
      Topcon FC5000 or FC6000 is common on topcon system, but there is a wide variety of data collectors and software available.

    Can you use Office 3D to set cut fill stakes? if so can you show how to?
    thanks!

      Office 3D is a PC software you would use primarily on your laptop or desktop. Pocket 3d is capable of setting grade stakes when you have the proper project files loaded and localized. I will get a video put together on checking grade that should hopefully answer you question. Look for it soon.

    I created my own dxf from a cad file I have. When I tried importing it to 3D office it says it's too large. Any recommendations on what should be in the dxf file and what shouldn't be? Hopefully cutting some things out will lesson the load on the dxf

    • @ctpusa1
      @ctpusa1  2 года назад

      What did you create the .dxf with? My guess is there is a major or minor topo layer in there that is making the file large.

    • @VANSONLY

      I avoid adding contours with the DXF file. 3D Office and 3DMC have the ability to create contour lines based on the TN3 file you import. I would also avoid adding any lines that represent treelines. I have had issues with those in the past.

    Is there anyway to use office 3d on a Mac?

      and what if they don't supply the TN3 file just the dxf file? Thanks

    • @ctpusa1
      @ctpusa1  Год назад

      Good question, I don't know that but I can check. I believe it's only available for Windows, I think they offer Magnet for MAC but really not sure.

    • @ctpusa1
      @ctpusa1  Год назад

      @@devinsheremeta1513 there is an option to import from AutoCad file which will allow you to import a .dxf. Just make sure that if you are exporting a .dxf from Civil 3d or something to save it as 2016 or older version for Office 3D to handle.

      @@ctpusa1 thanks for the reply. Is there much room to edit surfaces in office 3d..for example if you are trying to build a berm, and on the dxf file the only supplied points are the centerline of the top of the berm, and you need to make it a certain width with slopes on either side. Is that possible to adjust width and set the desired slopes.

    • @ctpusa1
      @ctpusa1  Год назад

      @@devinsheremeta1513 Yeah you can definetly do it. It doesn't have a bunch of great tools like other programs, but you can create a polyline and offset it horz and vertically and create slopes that way. It's really great for simple stuff like that. You can also create and alignment and apply profiles to it, it's not very user friendly, but the nice thing is it's pretty easy to navigate.
