- Luxembourg is a small country in Europe bordering France Belgium and Germany. It is known for it's banking and European Union offices, and most recently also for its free public transport system. Its capital is simply called Luxembourg.
This walk takes you from the Inner city, the new Luxembourg town, to the old Luxembourg. We cross the grand dukes palace in the city center on the way to the Chemin de la Corniche, a walking trail with spectacular views to the old town and the Neumünster Abbey.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. When you travel from place to place in this part of Europe, you always see a minimal difference in every place. I think the yellow theme stands perhaps out in Luxembourg city?
@@Katulo yes, thats because most old buildings and walls were built with sandstone and carried on with those colours
Luxembourg is so beautiful. My father-in-law was born there in 1906. Can anyone tell me what that statue thing is poking out of the wall at 23:50? It just sort of stuck out like a sore thumb.
Sorry for the very late reply, I'm catching up. My wife's great-grandfather was born in Luxembourg too but around 1898. :) So, I google lensed the statue in the Rue de l'eau and I came across a website, which calls it the Cinema de la cours. The building might have been a cinema hall and the statue in the wall indicates that. That's the website www.industrie.lu/HoteldeLuxembourgLuxembourg.html

Gosh when you mentioned 1898 and your wife’s great-grandfather, my husband reminded me that his grandfather was born there 1870. Thank you for sharing. What a wonderful video. Our family really enjoyed it. We plan to visit there one day hopefully sooner than later. We have never been that far away from America and we feel family roots calling. I’m sure you have enjoyed it? It looks like quite a beautiful, wonderful experience. Breath taking!
Late reply here. This statue was part of a rather more decorated façade of a cinema that existed at that very spot. The cinema building has since been demolished, but the head was put on the new building. Images of the cinema building are hard to come by, but if you are interested, you can look on the internet for the magazine "ons stad" which is specifically about Luxembourg-City. It is free and they have pdf versions posted on the internet. In the edition 87 (published in 2008), you'll find a picture of it on page 9, at the bottom right.

I stpped in Luxembourg during my road trip and I personally didn't like it too much. It lacked soul in my opinion. I must admit though that it could be a very nice place to live, just not too attractive from a tourist point of view
