The vid you just watched was not from the Singer, which he did not win sadly. Since it was in China they did not allow him to win as he was from another country. He did come in 2nd however. It was from his digital show he put out during covid. With that being said welcome to the rabbit hole of Dimash. The best singer in the world. He has trained since the age of 5 i believe. Dimash can do sing any type of music out there and in several different languages. You need to def check out more of his vids cause there is not another like him.

Yes, he was 5yrs old when his grandmother took him to the most prestigious music school in Aktobe, where they're from and he was immediately accepted and got his Master's in composition and classical music, and now is going for his PhD in contemporary music 🎶

Dimash is the best vocalist in the world.
This performance was not from the Chinese Competition show, "Singer 2017." It was a singing competition for professional Chinese singers only. Dimash was invited to perform as a dark horse. One of the organizers said, "This horse is too dark." He was the first foreigner and the youngest singer (22) in the show's history. The others were 12-39 years his senior. No, he did not win, even though he should have, they had to save face. A 51-year-old female respected and beloved singer, Sandy Lin won. In my humble opinion, she could not touch Dimash and was not as good as some of the other Chinese singers. He only spoke Kazakh and Russian, and his first four songs were in French ( SOS ), Russian ( Opera 2 ), English ( The Show Must Go On ), yes Freddy Mercury & Queen, and Mandarin ( Autumn Strong ). He had one week to prepare for each performance. He was amazing. He began his music studies when he was five and now has several degrees in music, including a Ph.D. in music composition, and, still does vocal training for 3-5 hours every day. You will never be disappointed with whatever song of his you react to next. He had a concert in New York at The Barclay Center just before the Covid shutdown. There were fans, "Dears" as he refers to them, from 47 States and 54 countries.
Dimash isn’t only a singer. He also composes songs, he started to write lyrics for his songs, he plays several instruments, he acts in his music videos which are often more like mini movies, he also wrote the screenplay for one of it and co directed at another one. He arranges songs, he sings in 15 languages and almost every genre (partially mixed in one song) in every range with different singing techniques. He dances and is a brilliant performer. Long story short: Dimash is a true artist and you get the full package.
Dimash Qudaibergen PhD has a masters degree in music composition and has

After completing his doctoral studies he came to the U.S. to study
film directing at the L.A. campus of the N.Y. School of Fine Arts.
He sings everything from Opera to Michael Jackson and has now added Jazz into his repertoire.
He is not just the greatest singer in the world but a great entertainer.
He began his classical/operatic training at age 5 and now at 29, is still training.
He is brilliant, kind, giving and very content with his life.
Like many Kazaks, he is Eurasian. Tall at 6'3". He is into sports, especially martial arts and is friends with Jackie Chan whom he works out with when they are both in China at the same time.
He hasn't completed his PhD yet, it should be completed soon. And he came to the US to work, not study, as he said in his interview.
No idea about whether he works out with Jackie Chan or not, but they are friends and Dimash performed a soundtrack for one of his movies.

Dimash acted as a composer, author of the script and performer of the main role in the 13-minute musical film The Story of One Sky- directed by Alina Veripya. He introduced her at his fan meeting when premiering the music video after his Almaty concert. He codirected Qairan Elim, his first & to my knowledge only time he has directed so far (I’m sure that will change shortly).
Correction.He never sung in Korean,Hebrew,German and Arabic.

@@EllaSilentDragon We can't just assume and present it as fact. This is how rumors, exaggerations and even lies are born. Sometimes I feel very ashamed when I read some of the fiction dears write in the comments under reaction videos. Dimash doesn't need it, he is great enough without the need to augment and invent facts about him. And he is a humble person, I am sure he won't like dears to do such things.

I don’t know about the other languages. But I heard him sing parts of Queen of the Night, which is usually in German. (But only a part without lyrics)
And he studied opera. It wouldn’t be impossible to sing this only in other languages but German. But highly unlikely. 🤔

The wings are post-production. Dimash is the best singer in the world. A once in a 1000 year talent. We are lucky to be able to watch him perform. It's a blessing.
Dimash is considered to be the best vocalist of his generation. Dimash has one of the most passionate fan bases, not only because of his voice, but also his humility (he's the anti-diva!). I highly recommend you watch his "Stranger" since it's in English (he sings in 12 languages) to get an appreciation of what phenomenon you're dealing with here. Dimash has done sold out concerts in New York, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Turkey, Dubai, Armenia, Latvia, Germany, Czechoslovak, etc and people come from over sixty countries to see him, me included. I’m 79 from U.K. he sings in 15 languages, lots of genres from opera to rap, plays seven instruments, directs, dances, models etc. his family have their own production company as Dimash doesn’t want to sell his soul to some big American company who will control what he sings. His principles are mire important to him. He is humble, respectful, loving, charitable, intelligent, spiritual and very much the humanitarian, Try Stranger, from New Wave. Dimash sings in English and it’s like a film score from Game of Thrones.
He also doesn't want to "sell his soul" to Kazakhstan company, or Russian, or Chinese.
He wants to be independent.

We cannot fail to mention other fantastic interpretations by Dimash, as examples: His version of the song "Go GO Power Rangers" (from the Power Rangers series), in addition to the versions that Dimash did for the song "Diva Dance" (from the film "The Fifth Element").
SOS is Dimashs' trademark song, even though he didn't write it. He used the song as his first appearance (of 14 weeks), on a Chinese show called 'The Singer', in early 2017. He was the 'wildcard' that was invited on the show. He got 2nd, to a popular Chinese gal that was good, but NOTHING as good as him. This performance that you just watched, is a 2021 version. He invariably uses the song in almost all of his concerts, and (like other songs), does it in a slightly different way, often. I started watching his videos on at the second week, then caught this first performance, before getting into the following weeks. He started music at 4 yrs old,,,, you can read alot of info about him. He isn't just a singer,,, he is getting his PHD and also composes. He's a PERFORMER. He calls his millions of dedicated fans, DEARS. He loves them.
Thank you for your reaction. It's not the band's fault, but of the production that they made the music so loud in the mix. Dimash is classically trained and has a very powerful voice, he sometimes even removes the microphone at his concerts and can be heard across the entire large venue. There are other performances of where the music isn't so loud, but personally I love this one not less for other reasons. If this is not the kind of music you like, he sings in a lot of different genres and styles of music and vocals. And yes, he can go both lower and higher than in this song, though this is not the most important thing about him for me. It's the emotion he transmits in his performances. For me and many other fans he is a storyteller and a soul healer. I suggest you read the subtitles of this song to understand why he performs it this way. And also I love the the fact that his technique is excellent in every style and genre he chooses to sing in. By the way, not all his songs have wide range or high notes, many of them don't require it. He is magnificent in whatever range he sings in.

This production was made after he won on the talent show. This was done during Covid. This piece of music was a cover from a french rock opera. There is English caption to this. I have that version saved in my like videos. He actually has an 8 octave range. He has hit what some have called dolphin note. He is a very versatile singer. English, listen to Stranger. He has so much out I can't keep up. He also performed the Diva Dance from a movie I never saw. It is a difficult piece to do. From what I understand to make it supposed to be sung by an alien, the producers hired an opera singer to do the number then altered the recording to make it sound like no human could sing it. He does write his own material & arrangements. He is classically trained & has his Masters degree in music. His live performances are the best as he is a true performer. He performs in, someone wrote 17 languages.
Dimash did not win, he came in second place. They did invite him to return the next year as a performing guest!

There are videos on his official channel and other versions in the middle of his concerts since he always sings it in them. All of them live, all with small differences, all of them magnificent and incomparable. This song: "S.O.S. d'un terrien en détresse" is from the 1976 French-Canadian rock opera Starmania. Like the rest of the Satarmania music, the song was written almost 20 years before Dimash was born, but definitely this immeasurable Kazakh artist made it his own forever, when Luc Plamondon and Michel Berger composed it they had no idea who was going to be its definitive owner because no one can take it away from Dimash Qudaibergen.

As other commenters have already said...this is the version of SOS that he performed in his digital concert in 2021. He also sang this same song in the first round of The Singer competition 2017. If you choose to listen to 2017 version you'll see his growth as an artist in those 4 years. He has sung many versions of this and most of his other songs...each version a little different and beautiful in it's own way 😍🎶💕

The scenery on the stage is made using VR technologies. This happens during a show or performance at the theater. This is a complex virtual scenery that the viewer would see if he were there. But this performance by Dimash is unfortunately without an audience .
If you want to hear his 80s metal scream, listen to Stranger at New Wave. You will want to obscure his performance in some way as it gets blocked frequently but the ones uploaded that blur his performance do not. His 80s scream comes towards the end of the song but the entire performance is ridiculously epic.
The song was composed by Igor Krutoy who is known as the king of pop composing in Russia. Igor came out of retirement specifically to work with Dimash and they have created some truly magical performances together.
This performance is not from a singing competition. This is from his own 2021 digital concert he did during the pandemic. You've gotten confused because he did perform this song at a singing competition in 2017 in China which brought him international recognition.
However he placed a second in that competition because at that time the competition rule was that no one without Chinese heritage could win.
He had been invited to the show as a wild card since he is from Kazakhstan.
We figured that out after we recorded this reaction.
I'm sure you guys know by now, THIS was NOT from his competition...The 1st episode, 1st song, as a "wild card" entry was with a Live audience...and so great! (hope you find it)...he was only 22....he wasn't sure the audience would like it because he has Operatic and Pop influences....He did not win..... THIS was his Live, digital production performance..and although beautiful, the SLAVIC Bazzar Live is an even better version to check out....(and it does have subtitles...please check it out) On that note..can't wait for more reactions....STRANGER is done in English....and he shows his lower range and lung capacity...There are no bad songs from Dimash...and we DEARS love him... He came in second on the show, but that wasn't a shot from the show you just showed--this was a digital show he produced during Covid.
This is considered one of the most difficult French songs to sing. I do speak French, and the lyrics are so touching, so beautiful, it's a shame everyone can't understand them; the song is from a rock opera called Starmania.

The way I found to celebrate the majesty of Dimash's talent was to have written the following about him: If I were to rule the world, I would immediately add, to the universal declaration of human rights, another article (they would become 31) whose wording would next "All human beings have the right, at least once in their lives, to hear Dimash sing". I am a Professor and I believe that I have a special profession that allows me to transform the human heart and consequently the human society. I work with young people and young people need to have good references. I had been looking for someone for a long time, of whom I could speak to the young people I work with, as a good reference. That person should be young, a super talent, a super mega star in the art world and above all, because he is the most important, a good human person. His version of Lionel Richie's "Hello" that he performed on I Am The Singer in 2018 is out of this world!!! Dimash doesn't just sing the song...he adds a whole section of himself showing out and showing all he can do. Vocally he is a genius. He arranges all his music to show his flare. There is no one like him. Just a gift to us humans.

Dimash is singing SOS by Luc Plamondons a Canadian lyricist which he wrote in collaboration with the French composer Michel Berger. The rock opera is called Starmania, and includes SOS about an “earthling" in distress. Regarding the wings reference: The national animal of Kazakhstan is the golden eagle, a symbol of independence, freedom and flight to the future . He often uses this motif.

Watch his rendition in The Singer 2017. It is Dimash’s, purest rendition of SOS. No special effects, he didn’t have his own orchestra yet, nobody with big biceps hitting the triangle, just his raw talent on a raw mic and it is indeed the purest version that he’s done. Every note is placed impeccably, phrasing that is perfect for the meaning and mood of this song, right up to the very last note. His vocal control in there is spot-on, there’s no kind of flippancy that you might hear in this version and I think that the 2017 version would be a real eye-opener. I’ve always thought it’s one for the history books.
This is really not the best version to listen to, you’ve picked up that despite all the talent, this performance has something missing and too much production. But guys -

I’m sure you guys saw the sign Dimash Digital Show, meaning not a competition. This was done during the pandemic for his fans. I wish you would react more to his new songs like When I’ve Got You & Smoke which he sang at his Hongkong concert. He’s been having concerts all over the world. He also had a concert at the Barclay Arena in NY. He sing in 13 languages including English.
Ogre, you pronounced it right and better than most people do! This was not the contest., that took place in 2017 and this was 2021. This was a digital concert he gave for his fans during COVID. He did sing the same song but this is the better version. Dimash has been classically trained since he was 5 years old. That’s when he started music school for piano and voice. The performance you watched was part of his Digital Show concert he put on during lockdown. That was his & his team’s production, in 2021. The Singer competition in China is really exceptional in production & quality compared to US competition shows, but it was not like this, & that was when he was younger, in 2017. You guys haven’t seen anything yet 😂 and I’m not sure if I’d call that a whistle from him, on anyone else it would be but he goes much higher where it sounds like a whistle, tea kettle, dolphin… he’s so much more than his extreme notes though.

Welcome to the wide and wonderful rabbit hole that is Dimash. Once you've heard Dimash there is no going back. And nope, he didn't win the Singer competition. Only because he was a ringer in the competition and it was decided a Chinese should win. Mind you, the one they gave the win to was awesome, not Dimash awesome, but awesome nonetheless. Dimash is from Khasakstan btw.

Diva Dance from 5th element - the blue alien opera singer was digitized to enhance the lows and lend an otherworldly effect to the highs, but Dimash does it live. SOS from "The Singer" or "Slavic Bazaar" have better instrumental / vocal balance.
Just fyi the performance you just watched had subtitles :). STRANGER - New Wave version is both in English, also has subtitles, & I think you guys will love it. I do recommend you may have to blur or something the image, it sometimes has more copyright issues but totally worth it. Production is EPIC, this is in front of a live audience, when he premiered the new song. Also I do recommend always putting the video back just a few seconds every time you pause- his transitions are so important & the flow especially because of his already extremes, you’ll enjoy the music better if you just ease back in with a few seconds backtrack whenever you’re done pausing as you react.

He was barely 22 then, and every single performance was a humdinger. He didn't win, but was the runner up (likely because of nationality issues and respect for the excellent Chinese singers). The show included top Chinese performers; he was the dark horse and the baby and definitely the Darling of that contest. In 2018 he was voted the best Asian singer. But his Chinese fan base exploded over night to the hundreds of millions. He had been a big star already in Kazakhstan and the CIS countries. Later in the year, he had his first huge concert in Kazakhstan, the rest is history. His concerts are already legendary. You might also watch his 2019 concert in NY, Barclay Centre. He is indisputably the best vocalist of this generation, possibly ever, besides using the the stage to advocate for peace and unity. His Dears travel from all corners of the globe to his concerts. He is highly trained in classical, pop, jazz and contemporary music and likes to mix it with Kazakh folk music. The Story of one Sky, both film and live performance, was written/directed by him - worth watching. He never fails to amaze. His latest concert was in Hong Kong in December 2023, and includes two new songs - When I've got You and Smoke, which feature a new side of him. His meteoric rise happened outside the music industry (mostly on RUclips) because he wants to preserve his artistic integrity.
