When was his last cardiology appt? Coughing can be caused by heart issues, collapsing trachea, a number of things. The best way to diagnose these would be to get an echo done to make sure the heart murmur is still grade 4.

How much do I dose my 70 pound doggy with chronic cough and rhinitis as a result of overprescriprion of antibiotics and steroids from a stint of bacterial pneumonia? She has lots of mucous and dry cough and I want to help her get her immune system and inflammation to calm and improve. Thank you.
Hello, my 3 month old shih tzu puppy has kennel cough. We took him to our holistic vet and he said that we need to monitor him while the virus runs its course. He told us to give Manuka honey which we just started doing. Today was day 3 and the coughing episodes have gotten longer. What can we give hin to soothe his throat and stop so much coughing? Also how much honey a day is ok to give hin ? Thanks so much !
It can take up to three weeks for the cough to pass. If the honey in the evening is not enough to quell the cough, ask your holistic veterinarian if they have anything else to help. Monitor for thick yellow nasal discharge, yellow phlegm being coughed up, fever, loss of appetite. A humidifier may help (or take the pup into the bathroom and run the shower to make it steamy, just like kids with croup).
@@judymorgan4241 ok and how much honey is ok to give a day? If he is just 11 weeks now and he has upcoming shots at 16 weeks should I postpone or will his immune system be ok by then to get them? Thank you!
@@steventravis5589 Should be okay by then. Give minimal shots, don't combine a bunch at once. A smear of honey on your finger can be given as needed for the cough.
