🎶 All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth... 🎼 l 🎵 Someone's getting visits from Santa and the tooth fairy! Lucky kid. All kidding aside...thank you for sharing your lives with us. It's such a pleasure to watch the boys learn and grow.
Great that you're kids are involved in projects. Many years from now, they will remember helping you. They will have those skills and great memories after you are gone.
Good idea using the t-post for support. I like to take a 5 gallon bucket , cut the bottom out and drop it over the stand pipe to the bottom and then fill the bucket with gravel, then fill hole with dirt. I feel it helps the drain valve keep from getting clogged.
David's Contractor Rules to live by: #1. If brass needs a wrench, back it out and double check. Brass is soft. #2. Hydrants like that don't like re-use. So you found out #3. Shut off valves are cheap, I put one at every faucet (hydrant) on my acreage and houses I build. #4. Always dig deeper than you need, gives water somewhere to go if something fails while installing. #5 When everything is either going too hard, or too smooth, best stop and check everything again. #6 Adult beverage exists for days like that, this(?). #7 Never backfill before you test. But you know that now. #8 When installing "no freeze" hydrants, I wrap the valve in landscape cloth to keep dirt from getting in the drain valve #9 "All I want for Christmas ........" Merry Christmas All.
We were shouting at you Sam, to test before you filled in the hole. Guess you couldn't hear us. Glad it was an easy fix. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
Sam, for future reference you might try a trick I learned from my dad back in the fifties for removing a broken pipe from threads.. Take a hacksaw blade and cut two notches inside the broken piece of pipe, you do not have to cut all the way through just enough so the pipe will break, then knock out one part and then the other with a small punch or small chisel. You can thread in a new pipe but of course you have to use some good liquid thread sealer. I have used that technique many times . My dad went through the depression and learned many ways to save a buck!
Hello Sam and Angela, love you 2 and the boys. Glad this project went better the second time. Anyway all that matters is that it’s done the right way and was ✔️and is good. Merry Christmas 🎄 🎄🎄🎄 👍
I’m so glad you let Elijah finish hammering that T-post in. I was so afraid Sam might steal the glory and do the last hit. You are such amazing parents and are teaching your boys to have a strong work ethic.
MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR! It was so go to see you all. At least you all were laughing through it all. (At least in front of camera, lol) Please take care and stay safe
Stay warm and safe with this nasty cold front coming your way! Hopefully, all your pipes are insulated. I crawled under my house today and insulated a few pipes that needed it as well as our outside spigots. I think we're ready!
Way to go Sam.. we have all done that once or twice and even for a third time. But for me leaving my tool belt on the roof and then looking for it on the ground is a loving moment. Ladder comes out and jump back on the roof and its there. Feliz Navidad and have a Great 2023
Happy to see Sam getting around better. Angela is cute as ever. The boys are growing up fast. Love you guys. Have a Merry Christmas and may the new year bring you many Blessings from our Lord.
Great to See You All Smiling through the tests & trials of life. The Boys are Growing SO MUCH!! Congratulations on Losing the New Front Teeth & Elijah the post Driver, Great Job. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU & GOD BLESS !!!
I can’t wait to see all the projects you’re going to be getting into in the new year! Hopefully no more lessons to learn… at least this was simple! Not easy, or clean, but it could have been much worse. I love how you are able to own it. No point in fuming and being mad, you just laugh, fix it and move on! Love your family, hope you have a very Merry Christmas, and a safe, healthy, and happy New Year!
Next time I would suggest putting in ball valves at each fixture inside a valve box for future preventative maintenance and will also help you isolate any leaks in the future. The channel is awesome keep the awesome content flowing.
Much love and prayers 🙏🏻 ❤️ on this glorious Sunday morning. The birth of our Lord. We love your channel ❤️ 💜 💕 it's 70° here in Scottsdale AZ. And I'm loving it. ❤️
That little guy missing a couple of teeth is even cuter now! I'm jealous of your climate down there. Sheesh! Angela was in a t-shirt for pete's sake!! In December!! I dream of living in an area where I can do that!
Sam & Angela I had the same thing happen to the hydrant on this property I bought. Late last fall I started getting water bills to double. I was shutting off the water and turning on only when needed. No visible water on the ground anywhere. My ground is so porous that the water just soaked. When I dug up around hydrant, yep water out the weep hole. I also bought a new one.
Man, that was a muddy mess, figured those feral boys would want to help move that stuff around! Nothing like playing in the mud as a kid. Merry Christmas to everyone!
One thing for sure, when we mess up we sure learn a lesson we are not likely to forget. We have all been there at one time or another. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Haaaa well it just proves why I hate plumbing projects! Can’t be done without at least 3 trips to hardware store! Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas! Hope Santa is kind to you all!
First I'm glad you got it fixed second you had to dig it up again anyways 3rd you are teaching them boys the right way of hard work 4th we love y'all have a very merry Christmas
HaHaHa, I love how well you work together. And have you ever caught yourself talking to the screen saying "No!! Check for leaks!" Oh Well this is a Life Lesson. You will never do anything again without checking it out first, And I hope you talk to the boys about this so when someday they will remember your words, "Check it for leaks first". Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. What a wonderful journey this year has been.
I've had plantar fasciitis before -- painful! I have heard bone spurs are also very painful. I cannot imagine both. May Jehovah God sustain us until pain is no more . Rev 21:3,4 ❤️
We had 21below here this morning. Three more nights to go of this. Hydrants around here are buried 7 to 8 ft deep. Frost can go anywhere from 4 to six feet down on bare ground. Snow covered can be less since the snow insulates the ground. Always fun doing chores when it’s cold out. Enjoy the green house Merry Christmas.
I would wish you guys a very merry Christmas and a fresh new memory of what Christmas means to all of us. We renew our memory each year. Take care of those great boys, and I see the oldest is changing from a little boy to a young man
They whole time I saying Sam… you tell us to check it first… Sam… check it first you said that before!! I know you have!! Oh well “I’m not a professional” comes to proof! Love that you show the good the bad and the ugly!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! It was good to see y'all! I'll be honest, I thought to myself as the hole was being filled in the first time, "Sam must have tested that off camera because he would never do that without testing it first". Oops! Well, at least you have a brand new one you KNOW you can get parts for!
One of the things I learned seventy years ago as a farm-boy: If you attach a hose to that type of hydrant and then throw the hose into something like a watering trough, when you're done filling the trough and turn the hydrant off, it will syphon the water out of the trough and deposit it into the gravel-chamber around the base of the hydrant. As my dad admonished me, "Pull the hose out of the trough when you turn off the water!" One other observation: I would not use the shark-bite type pex connector underground. I would opt for the type that crimp-clamps the pex tubing to a brass fitting.
I said “Oh No”, when you started dumping in the gravel (course we already knew 😳), without turning the water on & checking for leaks. Common sense would tell you if the hydrant was working at the old house, it should be ok here, but stuff happens. Hope y’all have a wonderful and blessed Christmas. You’ll really be enjoying that fireplace for the next few days!
First thing to try is to lengthen the rod on the hydrant. The little “T” on top of the rod can be screwed up or down to adjust the pressure put on the bottom that seals off the water. Another thing I do is to put an elbow in the inlet and then six feet of galvanized to hook to the main. Along with the post it really makes them solid.
I just love watching your video's, Sam & Angela you both do fine video's also your 2 boys are fantastic to watch, hope all 4 of you enjoy Christmas and have a wonderful new year love from England.
Good job. Merry Christmas. If foresight were as good as hindsight, we would be a darn sight better off!! I noticed that on the second time around, the stainless steel hose clamp turned into black zip ties. They will eventually succumb to the sun and fail or be cold and brittle and have too much pressure on them and fail. Keep an eye on them.
Thank you, thank you. I have watched you since you put in your bedroom floor. I found you totally by accident. You have taught me a lot and kept it totally lighthearted. Keep up the work and I am so glad you include the boys.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays too you two and your family. I put in shutoff valves so while I'm working on new additional piping and faucets I don't have to have all my water off to house. I reckon the depth you have to go to up there may make that more difficult though.
YAY FOR GETTIN' R DID🎉 Hippity Hippity Winter's on its way. For this week; it's already here. I WANT MY FLIP FLOPS BACK!!! 😢 I hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas and a much better new year! Big hugs! ☮️💖🙏🇺🇸🇮🇱✝️🎄🤛
Hey Sam and Angela , and opportunity to say to you Happy Christmas ! I do hope things get better for you and over this hiccup. Will you possibly do a Christmas Day tiny vid ? just so we can see how you celebrate as a family ? Id love to see the boys and you both opening up your presents on the day .
Great video Sam and Angela
I said to myself "gee Sam didn't test it first". Absolutely love you guys, and your boys are the best. Merry Christmas.

Also, I love your educated humor. So appreciated!!! Speaking in complete sentences!!! Love what you've done
I love the way you teach your children. They are so sweet.
Fixed just in time! These temps today and this weekend are gonna be a doozy! Stay warm and Merry Christmas!
Great that you're kids are involved in projects. Many years from now, they will remember helping you. They will have those skills and great memories after you are gone.
Call me weird but the mud digging was so satisfying. I want to play in the mud now. Lol
looks good until you have to actually do it for a living. lol
Nice seeing your faces. Merry Christmas and thanks for the video

Merry Christmas. I’m giggling because I was yelling check for leaks before burying, why because I’ve been there. Great job

These boys are adorable! Great job Angela and Sam!
Merry Christmas - Good timing for all those folks wondering if they should wrap their frost free hydrant for the hard freeze that's upon us.
You never give up, you never surrender💪🏼! I suppose after digging your electrical trench everything else is just 🤷🏻♀️
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’s Sam & Angela and boys!! See y’all next year 🎄❄️⛄️✝️

I am glad you show the pits of a bowl of cherries. Are those feral children in the woods again? Merry Christmas
We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄
When I saw the thumb nail I thought oh no. Glad it wasn't colder for that watery job. Hind sight is 20/20😉
