The highways are what people thought they would look like in the future when in the 1980s.
I love seeing all the lanes in use but I wish there was a lot more traffic allowed in the game to fill up those lanes like a big city. I artificially boost traffic via no transport except cabs at the airport and try to always have roads with parking spots to get people to drive. I can fill up 5 lanes but ughhh seeing some real dense moving traffic would be amazing. Also would be cool if the game had events and stadium with corresponding traffic like sims city for a cool challenge

I make ALL of my outside connections public transportation. I also link most of my areas via public transportation. That's the only way I can get traffic this light without mods.

I use the traffic reduction mod to increase traffic a bit, otherwise the highways are pretty empty. But it definitely takes a toll on the simulation speed

You could use about 50 more lanes on the main highway. each car doesn't have an individual lane that terminates at its final destination, so there's always room for more... :)

I use that mod actually and have it on 2 all the time. When I put it on 1 or 0 it's still okay, but traffic becomes a mess around schools. I'll maybe make a video of it on the 0 setting :). If the simulation speed allows for it 😂
