I think the biggest thing is to avoid the bigger items like sweeteners, and per packaged foods that contain it . In my opinion the amount in pills and vitamins aren’t enough to effect you . I’m okay keto and I’m selective about the artificial sweeteners I use and I still take my prescription medicine and vitamins which is about 10 pills or more a day and the pounds are still dropping. 😊

Hi Dr Berg, my word it’s in everything. I went and looked at something’s I have, and I couldn’t believe what they put maltodextrin in. Thank you so much for your information. ❤
Just one of the reasons! Detox daily for heavy metals we're breathing in from the nanoparticulates sprayed on the entire world daily, to make us all sick! Research! ALA, NAC, VITAMIN C, D3, K2, MSM, DE, GROUNDING oneself several times a day, and limit EMF exposure as much as possible!
I seriously believe that the Maltodextrin which is the main ingredient in some so called stevia sweeteners has caused me so many digestive issues from irritable bowel syndrome to depression to hemorrhoids .Other than that its wonderful.
Even more prevalent is "natural flavorings" as an ingredient which is usually multiple ingredients of all kinds of stuff. It's bs & should be illegal to not list every individual ingredient. Even then you should also consider how each was processed. For example, not all stevia or decaf coffee is made the same. It seems practically impossible to eat cleanly & even more so, humanely.
@@Eternitynoteskevinwwalton Yes because (if memory serves) there are laws to be abided regarding ingredient lists as well as specific claims (ex: the product must get approval to be labeled "organic" but other labels like "free range", "cage free", & "humane" have no legal ties & mean nothing, sadly).

More people have adverse reactions to Stevia than realized. It might be "natural' but it messes with our gut and brain in negative ways. Soy reactions are off the chart, but people still think it's safe to consume as a food - but it is not. Please do some research on Stevia, it's not as good as it is touted.
I'm so sad. I found a bag of monk fruit sweetener and when I went to use it I looked at the fine print in it said it's mixed with maltodextrin. So I'm guessing I shouldn't use that sweetener, huh? It was expensive too!!😒😞

Apprently maltodextrin is a "complex carbohydrate" technically and thats how companies are getting away with it.
I suppose when fat is removed from food it needs sugar to make it taste nicer and if this stuff puts bad bacteria in the gut or allows the bad bacteria a foothold then that bacteria will require feeding and then we (a proportion of the mass population) goes back for more and so the cycle continues.

Yes I was so happy I found you when I started keto . I found a huge bad of powder stevia on sale and started to using it . After watching one of your videos where you mentioned maltodextrin . I decided to read the ingredients of the stevia bag and maltodextrin was first, and then stevia. I was sad but my the Choice to toss it .
Hello doc im from indonesia, im so interest with ur presentation, well if i can request may i have some news why did "they" create maltodextrin ?
In vitamins and medications , how do we solve that ?
Sometimes we can't.😥
I think the biggest thing is to avoid the bigger items like sweeteners, and per packaged foods that contain it . In my opinion the amount in pills and vitamins aren’t enough to effect you . I’m okay keto and I’m selective about the artificial sweeteners I use and I still take my prescription medicine and vitamins which is about 10 pills or more a day and the pounds are still dropping. 😊
I’ve always been slim and I don’t deal with sweeteners or packaged food , I grow my leafy greens , and here I think including detoxing foods like ginger ,cilantro , garlic , turmeric and the like would help !
Buy bulk and make your own
For vitamins that is😂
Dr Berg, thanks for another helpful video :D do you have any suggestions as to what to do after a meal ? Should i rest or should i partake in some sort of low instensity activity or something third ? Thanks :)
Just found that maltodextrin is the first ingredient in Great Value (Wal-Mart brand) bag of Stevia sweetener. Wth!
Same! 😜
Yup. I made that mistake. Gave it away to my neighbors.
Hi Dr Berg, my word it’s in everything. I went and looked at something’s I have, and I couldn’t believe what they put maltodextrin in. Thank you so much for your information. ❤
Please make a video on aspartame as well. It is still used in some beverages in some countries.
Aspartame is awful its artificial & 200 times sweet than table sugar but its in most “zero sugar” drinks
Thank you Dr. Berg for this important message!! God Bless you abundantly!!
thats why people are getting sicker and sicker with unknown reason
they'll find something else to blame it on, like meat consumption or something like that, or high cholesterol, etc..
some sweeteners contain human tissue
Z zz 🤢🤮
Just one of the reasons! Detox daily for heavy metals we're breathing in from the nanoparticulates sprayed on the entire world daily, to make us all sick! Research! ALA, NAC, VITAMIN C, D3, K2, MSM, DE, GROUNDING oneself several times a day, and limit EMF exposure as much as possible!
One of many reasons!
Would you really trust a list of ingredients?
@@Eternitynoteskevinwwalton Yes because (if memory serves) there are laws to be abided regarding ingredient lists as well as specific claims (ex: the product must get approval to be labeled "organic" but other labels like "free range", "cage free", & "humane" have no legal ties & mean nothing, sadly).
@@ItsLoriK Understood. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
God bless and best of health to you & yours.
From , someone.
@@Eternitynoteskevinwwalton Thanks & no problem. Take care!
Thanks sooo much Dr. Berg!!! You're opening our eyes & saving lives with your very informative videos, & we really appreciate you & everything you do!!! 🥰❤️
Thank you. Glad to make videos that can help you all.
You're very welcome!!! 😀
It's in the stevia we bought at Walmart 😣 guess it's time to throw it out
Try to use loose leaf stevia its green ! Its the real stevia you cant get it at walmart
@@valjean2036 thank you!
Sweet Leaf brand on Amazon! Costs less than Truvia at Walmart and is waaay less bitter than most all of them! I am buying Swerve today but will need to be careful not to mess myself up!
Same happened to me at a store named aldi I love to shop at it was the first ingredient.
More people have adverse reactions to Stevia than realized. It might be "natural' but it messes with our gut and brain in negative ways. Soy reactions are off the chart, but people still think it's safe to consume as a food - but it is not. Please do some research on Stevia, it's not as good as it is touted.
It seems to have helped me substantially with my GI issues.
I'm so sad. I found a bag of monk fruit sweetener and when I went to use it I looked at the fine print in it said it's mixed with maltodextrin. So I'm guessing I shouldn't use that sweetener, huh? It was expensive too!!😒😞
Wow such useful timely information-glad you are the warrior wonderful
I was looking at a package of stevia in the grocery store to use as an alternative to sugar, and found maltodextrin listed first in the ingredients! So it would cause an even greater insulin spike than the sugar I’m already using! I’m headed to the health food store to find pure stevia.
The liquids are usually pure
Did you find it? I thought pure Stevia wasn’t available in the United States
@@metabaron6664 Amazon has 100% Stevia.
It's in can Starbucks drinks too . 😮 My big brother fussed at me told me I should drink my coffee from home with organic products ....lol I dismissed him . Time to own up to "crow" he was right .
Also if you get your own beans and crush them and consume in a short period of time it has amazing benefits apparently
@@20alphabet , full of pesticides, as is all wines made in the USA!
I get organic beans at Costco and grind my own coffee. It's more work, but so worth it! Dr Berg, please do a video on GMO vs NON-GMO! Thanks!
My dad, being diabetic, has recently had higher than normal sugar levels. Upon looking at the sweetener we have, it contains maltodextrin so I've got them looking into an alternative. Myself, I use honey in coffee & tea as I won't even use sweeteners myself. Everything I buy, I check the ingredients to see if it or dextrose is included. 😊 99% of the time, I put back and avoid. But occasionally, I will have those chicken tikka satay skewers as they're damn nice. 😊
How do u know the honey u buy is not contain syrup or any other culprits? Pay a lot and buy genuine manuka and the most expensive one , only that way i know u get best, i never buy honey from supermarket
Your Dad’s sugar Levels
will Definitely Decrease.
Good Eye.
do not put honey in hot beverages, only room temp or slightly high
acc to Ayurveda when honey is heated it destroys enzymes and produces ama (toxins) and disrupts digestive process.
Is tapioca Maltodextrin a better alternative???
I meant to look this ingredient up the other day. You read my mind Dr. Berg.
I came here as I was reading the label on my Maca capsules! I bought them a while ago wasn't into all these sweeteners thing yet! Now I'm SUPER ANGRY! Why on earth would they fill a supplement with such stuff!!
I've been trying to reduce my sugar intake and curb my insulin resistence. So I opt for natural sweeteners like stevia, inulin or monk fruit. My hubby was sweet to by me a box from the super - and the brand lists maltodextrin as its first ingredient. So it means this sweetener is not even stevia! I was so pissed off at the company for such fakeness!
Great Stuff! I’ll keep my eyes open for it, moving forward.
Thank you SO Much Dr. You're really awesome 👍. I'll take your advice very seriously, for the feeding of my family!
I been doing Herbalife shakes for 9 weeks n have lost 21 pounds and it has it in it.
I just saw maltodextrin as an ingredient on a can of sardines, but it was less than 2%. Is that still a big deal, especially when it isn't found in any other foods that I eat. If it is an issue in even that minute an amount, I'll return it to the store; otherwise, I don't see anguishing over it.
thank you again
👍👍
Anytime!
Excellent information ! Excellent video !
5⭐
Thank you Dr Berg. I have been using a health product and just discovered Maltodextrine was in it.
Just bought a brand of “organic” mixed nuts from stater bros turns out it had maltodextrin in the ingredients even though states on the bag it has no preservatives. The reason why I eat nuts is to NOT spike my blood sugar…ridiculous
Thank YOU!!!!
Welcome!
Thank you for passing along this information. Let me guess? This is banned in all other countries.
Thank you Dr Berg!!🤩🤩🤩
I think maltodextrin stalls my weight loss on keto and I'm just finding out. For months the scale wouldn't move. Because I used boullion powder and taco seasoning with it. I stopped and boom
I saw this as an ingredient in a bag of "Macs; salt and vinegar pork rinds." Decided to look it up. Thanks for the info Dr. Berg. Threw the bag away.
Recently heard they tested 19 brands of beer for glyphosphate-roundup
And found it in all the beer except for 1 did'not have it present
Sure, but if you drink enough of the beer you won't notice it!
Which one ? Pray tell
Just got my probiotics and there's potato. Maltodextrin
Thank you Dr. Berg!!! I just have been to Starbucks for ice latte , and I just asked if they had any sugar free vanilla or caramel syrop , they said they had. So asked to show me the bottles with ingredients, and the second ingredient was Maltodextrine. I didn't know what it is , i understood that it's a sugar replacement but i didn't dare to try it out before I find out what it was. Thank you so much for the information you give! Because I am already one month on keto and intermittent fasting, i have great results thanks to you ❤️ You saved my diet ! ❤️
Hey Dr. Berg, what about maltodextrin derived from tapioca?
Wondered what your thoughts are on digestive resistant maltodextrin? I came across this in a new protein bar i was looking at.
I saw this productive in a new conditioner that really hydrates my hair. What are the effects of it on my scalp, hair etc?
I've made chocolate pudding out of an avocado. Yum.
math you, Care to share your technique and recipe?
Yes this was my thing before keto and if you freeze ice cream 😍🤩
@@vickieturner8688 It's been a while. I forget exactly. You definitely want to use a mixer or processor. All I had was a fork and it left bits of avocado which made the taste not as thoroughly enjoyable as it could have been. I used organic cocoa powder non-alkalized which has more polyphenols (antioxidants) than alkalized (dutching). As far as a sweetener I forget if it needed it or if I added sugar. Today I would use stevia if it needed it. Sorry this isn't more informative. I was playing up to Dr. Berg's sarcasm on store bought pudding. :)
@@Matthew-e3u7r Thank you! I will definitely try this simple concoction! Dr. Berg has such a wonderful sense of humor, doesn't he? There are quite a few of the regulars in the comments section of his videos that make me laugh, as well! Have yourself a most wonderful day!!
@@vickieturner8688 LOL Yes. Also, I just thought of this... maybe add a little organic virgin (more flavorful than refined) coconut oil for an added layer of taste to the pudding. Best wishes.
Dr Berg is always dropping gems💎💎!
As a type 1 diabetic, I intend to make a homemade energy drink to maintain stable blood sugar levels for endurance aerobic excersise (my case roadcycling). What more natural ingridients would you recommend for a fructose + glucose + electrolyte mix?
Potassium salt, water, honey
I was about to get a lemon non gmo , organic powder but it had maltodextrin. Glad I looked it up and you were 1st on my youtube feed. Thank you Dr Berg
Towards the end of the video, you mentioned whey powder and hinted that it's high on the glycemic index. There are several keto powders out there that use whey in their powders. I searched your videos, looking for a video warning against whey powders but found none. Could you do a video on whey powder?
I agree, i'm confused. Whey protein powder consist mainly of fibers and therefore has a low GI. can you please back up your statement with data?
Many powders have maltodextrin as one of the main ingredients. And they advertise "no sugar or low sugar" 🙃@yvonnwilderx3362
Thanks so much for this information dr. Berg! I only use erithritol as a sweetener
Good Lord! Who knows what to eat anymore:(
Just eat meat. Red meat and only red meat.
@@maxvitality8598 I love red meat but I also love fish and eggs so that rules me out
@@nnr2dm243 Fish is probably okay if you get a low mercury fish like wild caught salmon. But eggs cause a lot of people issues.
@@maxvitality8598 I won't knock your diet (it works for many people) the Mercury thing can be an issue as can the eggs- mine are pasture raised at a friends farm but even then they could cause issues for people- as for red meat I might have to raid the fridge and have some bacon right now
*that's why I try to eat as little as possible and I've already started eating once every other day*
It’s also a filler in paint ~a paint maker
There is one huge problem with Stevia. It comes in two forms, with the most popular by far being "Stevia in the Raw", which can be used teaspoon-for-teaspoon in coffee and cup-for-cup in recipes.
PROBLEM: It is made up of only two ingredients; Maltodextrin, and Stevia extract. Thus, you have vast majority having a GI through the roof combined with a minuscule amount of the namesake having a GI of zero.
When I consume any foods containing maltodextrin I suffer a lengthy headache that starts within a couple of hours and can last 24 hours or more. Any tips Dr. Eric Berg apart from of course avoiding it - does this indicate other problems? Thanks
Thank you that's a real eye opener. Your a very good teacher. God bless you.
Thank you Dr Berg. GREAT INFO
Most welcome! Glad you found it useful!
Very nice. Thanks. Following
What is the maximum dose of maltodextrin we can use in food product?
Here in my country(India), companies are selling weight gainers to skinny people that contain more than 70% maltodextrin.
Can you imagine what taking scoops and scoops of this stuff would do to your body considering its high glycemic index.
Apprently maltodextrin is a "complex carbohydrate" technically and thats how companies are getting away with it.
Thank Doc you always give us such beneficial information THANK YOU!🤗
I suppose when fat is removed from food it needs sugar to make it taste nicer and if this stuff puts bad bacteria in the gut or allows the bad bacteria a foothold then that bacteria will require feeding and then we (a proportion of the mass population) goes back for more and so the cycle continues.
Whey protein powder is high in GI ? FROM WHEN ?
Now I know why there are never any bugs in my pudding.
😂😂😂
Thanks man, Dr. man. We love you.
