Make sure you also put NO TRESPASSING signs up too. That way if someone gets hurt or anything they can not hold you responsible as property owners. I would even go over board on how many signs you put up. I learned the hard way so please do post the signs.
In fact, check out the state statutes on this topic. In order for our signs to be “valid” they must be spaced every so many feet from each other AND around the perimeter of your property, (not just the road side of the property). We followed these regulations and angry hunters came through and ripped most of them off the trees upon which all four corners were nailed in tight…We took photos of the installed signage. Sadly it was before trail cameras were invented, or we would know who the perpetrators were…
True. Usually states require no trespassing signs spaced a certain distance around a property in rural areas, maybe 50 or 100 feet, in order for law enforcement to enforce no trespassing laws.
It's considered a 16 ft gate because once you install your hinges that go into your post and then bolt up to your gate Plus the latch on the other side you make up that extra few inches
You two young kids are the hardest working couple I have ever seen!! Your grit and determination are outstanding. Anyone with lots of money can rent a big machine to do your work, but the joy and satisfaction of working hard, and learning as you go will make you strong and able to tackle anything in life!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Kyle & Shanon are quite a pair. They always have a good attitude about everything - including missteps or delays. They are always respectful and encouraging toward each other. And they always smile, even thru the disappointments. They are always delightful to watch. K&S, Love watching your videos!
I love that Smokey plays with Nala and tolerates Herc in that older sister way. It makes my heart so happy to see Smokey playing. It’s wonderful to see your progress! And now I’m worried about the hunters on your land 😱 Blessings! ❤
I hope you remember the mounting hardware needs to be accounted for too, that's where it makes it a 16 foot gate. If it ends up being a little short then I wouldn't take anything off, just switch the mounting hardware to the front or back of post instead of inside.
Love seeing the 3 pups playing together 😊 You two are working so hard, all your labors will be blessings down the road. Take care and God bless, love you guys 💜😇
Get you several cans of purple spray paint and walk around the property lines and spray trees. Make or buy posted signs for private property and no hunting.
Once you get the posts set you can always cut off the top of the taller. Got to have room for the hinges as well. A lot of young goats stick their heads through fences. What goat farmers do with a young goat that does that a lot is tie a stick between their horns that keeps them from getting their head through then after a few weeks remove it as they have learned not to do that plus they are a little larger.
Every year I would post No Trespassing No Hunting signs around perimeter of my Dad’s 300+ acre property. One side backed state land that invariably a hunter would cross into our land…and right past florescent orange signs placed just a couple feet apart. Thankfully no one was ever injured.
You need to put purple ribbon around a lot of your trees throughout the woods. That way it indicates that it’s private property you might as well start at the front of your property and just do it around the edges and then throughout the inside of your property it lets hunters know that it’s private property. Love your channels.
Personally I really like how you are socializing the three pooches-doesn’t impede on Smokey’s space but she enjoys playing alongside them. I think your gate will be terrific and taking time now to get it to your specs just means not redoing later. Great video people
In TN, I even went to the sheriffs office and they had me sign a paper that swore I would actually prosecute if they caught someone and brought them in. There had been people who they got in and then the owner backed off on prosecuting them, that adds to wasted time and possibly putting them in a dangerous situation for nothing. But yes, the Sheriff's office was key
In the county I was raised in, you had to post no tresspassing & no huntting signs every so many feet. It basically worked out that you could see the next sign from the previous sign.
Hi Kyle and Shannon! The dogs playing are so cute 😍! So many of your viewers know so much about the 16 foot gates to help you out and posting signs! I learned from your viewers that the color purple painted on trees around the boundary of your property means no hunting! You both are hard working, your land is looking great ! Prayers 🙏 for God to protect and keep you safe. 🥰 from Texas
I just posted about the paint. I couldn’t remember what color, that you spray paint the color on trees and fence post. I remember my uncle , who was a farmer talking about the paint thing but that was several years ago. Bless his soul! Glad I seen someone else talking about it.
Everyone, check your local municipal rules Re posting. Not all US states have the purple paint rules like (WA doesn't). Some states say you have to register off limits (see you Vermont).
Your dad does such an awesome job with all the animals! His love for them all is so cool! How blessed you are that he can care for your animals as well. He’s just so good with all the animals. But I’m sure you can’t wait to have your animals at your own property. But at least you know they are cared for with so much love until you can take them home. And grandpa is always studying to make their lives even better. Also he’s always loving on all the animals. I’m guessing Herc will be pretty large and a great addition to your farm when your ready.
I love your podcast! I love seeing a young couple working together as a team treating each other with kindness and respect! You are a breath of fresh air! You are moving up in my line of podcasts I watch! You remind me so much of my husband and me when we were younger and building our mini Farm. We had chickens, Ducks, geese, guineas, turkeys, peacocks, pigs and dogs and cats of course!
I love it when the dogs get together---Nala may learn something from the Herc when you get moved onto the land. Plus it is great exercise for Nala when they play. Nala needs to go in with Smokey for the zoomies.
Kyle! Man you are hired moving that dirt like you did around that form with out filling it in or covering it up great job! Oh how cool Herc is defiantly going to be a great LGD, and I love the way he was interacting with both Nala and Smokey, it was fantastic, God bless you both take care and stay safe
I’m glad you can get the gate up so hunters can’t go on your property, make sure you have no trespassing signs up everywhere. I’m so happy that Smokey is happy with the other dogs. The goats all look really good. Have a great day 🙏❤️🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐶🐶🐶❤️🙏
You two are making great progress on the land. Can't wait to see what the boys and Herc all do when together at Shady Acres. They will love it. You will have to get one of those little hay feeders for them. Love watching you guys.
I really look forward to your videos. Enjoy your hard working and all the things you have accomplished. The way you two work together is so refreshing, you're complimentary to one another.
Aww! Smokey Nala and Herc are getting along! That's so sweet to see. Great video, once again. Love your little family. I'm looking forward to seeing you at Shady Acres fulltime, but I'm wondering what winter will be like out there? Do you know if it gets much snow?
So glad to see the interaction between Smokey and Nala and Herc. It's hard to remember what the front of your property looked like right. One day at a time guys. Cool video. Whew I didn't watch the video until later because of 🏈 I have no fingernails 😱 and it is a good thing I have a cardiologist appointment in 2 weeks! 😂😂! Prayers for your whole family. Love y'all ❤️ 🙏🙏 PS You notice I didn't mention the hinges. I think enough of us told you. I thought it but I didn't say it. 😂😂😂
You two are sure, some hard workers. You don't see much of that in young people today. I just love your dad's little tractor. It is just the cutest! You can put a stick across the goats horns so he can't get his head through the fence. It looks funny but it works. You can get a med for the car sickness for Hurk.
Kyle & Shannon love watching your videos, just as much as the rest of your families channels. I learn so much about farming. I will never have a farm but I love watching you both with your animals. ❤❤❤❤
My daughter's grandpa had a 125 acre farm. He had posted signs EVERY few 10 or so ft. Still, when I came home from night shift, I would see cars/trucks parked off his property. I would go tell my daughter's dad, and it seemed like only 10-15 mins and you would see hunters getting into their cars w pissed off faces cause he always found them SO fast lol. He doesn't hunt, but would put down a badly injured animal. Hunter's on his property, even though also posted, would be met by him and his " pewpew" as Chad would say lol.
@@stillwatershomestead6242 yea, the posted signs were overkill, but the farm backed up to a huge golf course plus the NYS thruway, so too many thought they could just hunt wherever.
Tedious work setting posts , your gate will deter trespassers. Happy you are getting things done on your trip of building your farm . Best wishes on your journey to home building. Love and prayers 💕💕🙏🙏
I saw that reel, laughed my butt off. Ya'll are doing awesome. I love watching all the puppers, and I'm so happy for Smokey even if she's still not totally back to herself. Nala is looking amazing! 😊 PS. If you're in a high Leptospirosis area, please make sure Nala and Herc get it. Smokey too, but I know she's Grandpa's. Also, a tip; when you move the goats to Shady Acres, pick up Luigi first to load them (since he's subordinate to Mario). Otherwise, you'll never catch him.
showing off them muscles ...huh...great job...you two are doing a great job on the place and you will really enjoy it because you did all the work yourself..God Bless
I love watching you both and the projects you're completing!! So happy for you both and the hard work you have put into Shady Acres!! Many blessings to you, Kyle and Shannon! Keep up the good work 😊
Great job on setting the gate post. Anytime you feel like digging feel free to come to my house. Hopefully the hunters get the message. Love seeing the dogs all playing together. Make sure to post the signs on all sides of your property at the required distance. It helps to do so. Again, great job you two.
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on. May the Lord bless and protect you and Shanon and putting up the gate and make sure you post no trespassing private land
You guys have come so far in a short time on your farm. So proud of you both. I hope you can see the improvement as much as we can! I had a thought about the hunters... I would find a way at the back of your property to put no trespassing/private property signs because of the way the land is behind it. It looks like it would be a perfect way for hunters to come in on 4 wheelers, park and come in to hunt. Just a thought. Loved the video, updates, and love love love seeing the 3 dogs play together. 🤗🤗Sending many prayers, blessings, and love your way. ❤❤
Love seeing you with the animals as gives us an insight into how you'll be at your Shady acres. If your wanting to build gates and fences quickly and efficiently go watch some of Lester's videos as he started using some quick set foam that's especially for gates, could help you get jobs done quicker although if I remember it is a little more expensive but when you've got a lot to do and time is short for getting the jobs done perhaps it's a good fix.😍👍👌👊

Thought I would give you a tip: purple spray paint spray up and down trees on border of your property. Purple spray paint can be seen by people who are color blind and of course people who are not. IT MEANS: NO TRESPASSING.
Nala just loves running with Smokey and Hercules loves slobbering on everyone. LOL Good job on the post you guys, just do it your way that is the way to go. As always another great video thank you guys very much for that! I'm sure you already have? God bless you your farm and your beautiful animals as always your RUclips friend. Tony
The 3 doggies running together was so sweet, best friends. Do you know yet when you'll be able to live on your property? I know it's one day at a time, just curious. You're doing a great job. God bless you.
Y'all are doing a great job it's looking so good.i was excited to see water still coming out of the hose it has been awhile.you might want to go along backside of your property and mark your trees with whatever color your state uses for no trespassing ours in south Carolina are purple horizontal lines to keep hunters away.call your local wildlife.God Bless y'all are doing so much one day at a time
Shanon and Kyle thank you so much for sharing all of your projects the wins and the struggles. I have learned so much from you both. Much love from Newport, Mi.
I love big dogs. Herc is adorable. I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback who was 27" tall and weighed 110 lbs. I got her at 7 weeks and she lived to 13 which is good for a large dog. She passed away this past April and I still miss her a lot. She was the best dog I ever had. Love seeing Smokie and Nala running. Herc is so cute.
The gate , if like in Australia.. is “to cover a 16ft span” that includes hinge and fittings.
That’s what I thought too.
@@mem518 I was wishing I could text them to put the hardware on the gate to get a true measurement.
I agree. They are not figuring in the hinges & hardware.
They weren't thinking of that, I bet.
To late now.🤔🥴

I suggest that you spray purple paint on your trees around the boundary of your property. Purple is the recognized color for NO HUNTING.
Don't forget the measurements of your hinges and bolts going into your posts. They will close part of the gap.

So happy Herc, Smokey, and Nala are getting along!
dont forget to count in the hinges, they are 1-2 inches and then the latch
They measure the gate to include the outside hardware I think.
Remember to allow for the latch and hinges
There has to be some room for the hinges so that could take up part or most of the 5 missing inches.
Put some no trespassing and no hunting signs out all around your property and private property signs
Allow for your hinges and latch on the gates that will make 16 ft
Good job getting the property posted! And I figure that by now you have the gate up and have figured out why you needed extra inches. 😉
Love seeing the 3 pups playing together 😊

Think the gate is shorter, cause it accounts for your hardware, that would add about the 5 inches

Painting the top of a fence post purple in most states is legal for no hunting. Like with the no trespassing signs it has to be every so often.

As always another great video thank you guys very much for that! You need to make sure that you guys post no trespassing signs all across the back side of your property aware I think those power lines were? Etc please please make sure you post it. I'm sure you already have? God bless you your farm and your beautiful animals as always your RUclips friend. Tony

Hey guys, When you set the next post, just use a couple of 2x4s to keep it level. Much easier! God Bless!
The 3 doggies running together was so sweet, best friends. Do you know yet when you'll be able to live on your property? I know it's one day at a time, just curious. You're doing a great job. God bless you.
Trespasser! My God! In French we said : « One house, one master, » So ,you are the boss!😊

You two work so hard! You're doing really great! 🙂👍 That gate is going to look good 💚💚💚 Cant wait to see you and the animals on your land 🙂
Kyle aka Dances with Goats. Hercules is so cute and such a good boy. He is going to have one heck of a bark.
Make sure you post all of your land and tell your wildlife management that's it's posted
