A "no fault eviction" in California can only happen under very specific circumstances. Look up the 2019 law revision and know your rights as a renter. Unless she is moving into the house herself with the intent to live there for at least one year or doing a major renovation/update (she has to show you contracts that have been signed with dates), then she cannot "no fault evict" you. So sorry you're going through this!!!

Jaci, if you haven’t already, I would read your lease and CA housing laws carefully because there are laws that protect tenants against this sort of thing. If you are on a month-to-month lease, which is the only way she would be requiring you to vacate at no fault of your own with such short notice, then you have the right to give notice and move out sooner. Worth looking into! Xx

I had a similar situation! Put all your things in storage! Get a 2 bedroom Airbnb that’s month to month and call it a day! We stayed in a one bedroom for a month before moving to our house! Baby sleeps beside you so you’d be fine in a smaller place + you’ll literally be in sweats everyday so you don’t need much. Anyways! Wishing you the best!

A very different, but similar situation happened to me when I was 7 months pregnant. Similar because I had an idea in my head of how I would bring my baby home, etc., so I can absolutely validate your feelings of having to adjust your expectations when you already have a plan around every little thing. It so so so sucks and I’m proud of you for problem solving through this. You are so strong & capable, mama, and you will have a safe and healthy home to bring your baby to. I’m sorry you have to go through this experience 😮‍💨

I was in a similar situation with our first. Renovating while pregnant while kind of in limbo.. THE WORST. we ended up just house sitting and living with family for a little bit . It was WAY easier to do the storage route and be nomadic for a bit. Luckily, our house was “livable” by the time baby came. 😅

This also happened twice to me! First rental was sold and second the landlord moved in. I was pregnant with my 3rd and moved two weeks post partum with 3 kids, in the summer. I feel your pain! It’s emotional roller coaster and the financial stresser. Our landlord gave us a “deadline” and she confessed that the deadline wasn’t definitive, they can’t kick you out until you’ve found a place. Not ideal but if your lease isn’t done legally your under contract. Our landlord said she would’ve let us stay longer since we had a baby on the way but it worked out we found a place before her deadline but that would’ve been nice to know we weren’t under that pressure. Hoping it’s less last minute for you guys and it works out perfectly!

Unfortunately, I think this is a common occurrence when you rent in a major city in California, especially from private owners. I had to move out of my apartments twice because the owner was either selling the property or decided to renovate to flip. I know people are saying things about renters “rights” but long as they give you the appropriate amount of notice they can choose to not renew your lease.

I’ve been through a really similar house situation right before getting married and it was so stressful. is she “breaking” your lease early if you guys have a 12 month contract or something similar? if so, you have tenant’s rights and you have the right to stay in your home until the lease is up. I’m sure it varies by state but it’s worth looking into (I’m sure you’ve done some research but feel obligated to share that). it’ll all work out ❤️‍🩹

This happened to me and my spouse in 2021. Our landlords decided to sell the condo unit we were renting and were very sneaky and shady about it and didn’t tell us and then gave us 2 weeks notice to be out. Had to get a paralegal and take them to the Landlord Tenant Act (we live in Canada). One of the most stressful times of my life. Definitely look into housing laws in your area and your lease if you haven’t already - there is a lot of illegal things Landlords get away with unfortunately.

Put a bassinet in your bed room where ever that is. Go live in a hotel long living situation. Less space to clean. It’s going to be ok. Ask friends and family to help. Make it ok quit crying smile and make the best of it. Go on vacation for part of the time.

Can I please speak to the landlord for you. She has no right to quick you out with such short notice. Check your local library where you can usually consult with an attorney at a low cost to no cost and they’ll guide you as to what to do.

Is Lady registered as an emotional support animal? If not, I’d look into getting that done for her. It might help you get around the no pet policy. So sorry you have to deal with this!🫶🏼🫶🏼
