I was there ! Bleacher Bum since I was 10! years old.. I had to go home many times because they called the game due to darkness. I cried when the lights came on. I cheered but I cried. So you can imagine what happened when my Cubs won the World Series! No matter where I live, I will be a Cubs Fan!
God I miss Harry. He was the reason I became a Cubs fan. I'd tune in on cable where I grew up to watch, or if I was busy doing homework from school I could listen to him calling games and he was always informative and entertaining and good hearted. They don't make em like him anymore.
That summer the Chicago area experienced a terrible drought. Most of the summer was extremely hot and extremely dry. Of course the first night game in Wrigley Field history gets rained out during a drought.
Yup I worked construction all summer it seemed to me the drought started my first day and ended my last, believe that night was the only rain that we had and it was good ol Chicago night rain storm
The numbers are borderline. Dale Murphy has slightly better numbers and 2 MVP'S with nearly identical at bats. Dave Parker and Fred McGriff both have substantially better numbers than Sandberg. McGriff not being in is especially egregious especially with players like Harold Baines, Larry Walker and Ted Simons being inducted.

I actually have a copy of the Phillies broadcast from this game. Unfortunately my VHS tape ran out before the ☔ delay.
I was 17 and an usher that night. Good memories

Cool! Does anyone know how to watch a Cubs game from 8/6/1988? My family went to that game, and Harry announced our names on air like he used to do.
