I think the musket is one of those weapons that can be really good if you know how to use it, but absolutely horrible if you don't. However I would agree it is one of, if not the most balanced weapon in the game, and all around a great weapon. Great video Colton! Keep up the good work man!
The musket was ahead of its time, it used the most popular weapon from amarica, the gun, and the most popular from Britain, a knife for stabbing, the bayonet is epic.
The headshot damage reduction is NOT the same 54.5% damage reduction. For normal zombies, any pellet that hits the head will instantly kill the zombie, no matter the health. For zappers, headshot resistance means the pellet no longer 1shots, but rather 2 shots. So if a zapper had 2 health, 1 pellet deals 1 damage, but if it has 10000 health, 1 pellet deals 5000 damage.
The musket in my opinion, certainly is balanced. my only issue is using the bayonet constantly against large hordes (with no officers) since the bayonet can only hit one at a time, it makes more sense to use your actual melee to hit more rather than a knife attached to a gun that can only kill one.
@@edge209 the high damage, coupled with having the fastest melee swing speed in the game and consistent insta-kill headshots makes it great for linear hallways in objective maps so long as you can consistently headshot (which I admit is a pretty tall order for people starting out with the musket)
@@IrascibleTankyou're right, pro players can hold entire hordes by themselves by only using bayonet which otherwise would take around 3-5 people to hold it
@@Dorles-sf2ot doesn't that cause tunnel vision, cause it requires you be looking straight and having you move your camera bit upwards? using up thrust is too slow and the down thrust is more easier to use in first-person then third-person. thats how you easily get surrounded by on all sides / ambushed.
@@edge209that's true and main reason i dont use bayonet, still some players are truly good with it and just destroy everything, sound being their biggest ally since runners (being one of the main threats) make a unique loud growling sound when near, and if things ever get out of hands or they dont feel comfortable, they just change to heavy sabre and play in third person
I definitely agree that the musket is the most balanced. Minimal weaknesses, consistent damage. Though with the sabre, I feel like your issue is mainly a matter of getting headshots. On regular difficulty, the thing has the potential to hold back hordes much like the bayonet can when you figure out third person headshots with its side swing. It’s already a pain to aim in console though, so it’s more so a difference in platforms.
As a person who uses a carbine as the main weapon, *DAMN* the musket’s strong. If you know how to use it, you’re probably gonna carry the frontline. I usually have maps with a lot of crowd control needed, so I use the hand axe, carbine, and grenades. I do also have the pike and heavy sabre in case heavy melee is necessary.
The musket along with the sabre are probably the most well designed weapons in the game balance-wise, and to me represents the fun and unique combat aspect g&b is known for.
The musket is basically just a sniper, high accuracy and distancs (the rifles is sorta unnecessary imo even tho the iron sight is well designed) it has a pretty okay reload and a bayonet thats good with charge, the musket itself is easy to get used to, but newer players often dismiss the bayonet due to always missing there headshots or getting grabbed or hit in first person, but then pros (kevviz) use musket cuz of the bayonet instead of being a sniper, odd how one thing that new players think is useless is what a lot of people consider the most op part of infantry
The musket (based on irl info) can shoot up to 100 yards accurately, with spread being a few meters around 300 yards. G&B maps are made to be small so that the game isn't a boring walking simulator. So unless the shamblers are in a perfect straight line, or are 300 yards away, the Rifle's accuracy is quite unnecessary
Imo the musket is really good for melee because of bayonet (being best melee in the game imo) but not the best gun for shooting, in my experience i've gotten more consistent shots with blunderbuss and if i ever wanted faster follow up shots i would use carbine, pistol/navy pistol. Still, if a player dominates headshotting with bayonet they could easily kill the entire horde with it or with heavy sabre, and if a bomber came close, due to the lack of shamblers around they could safely trigger the bomber and walk away, removing the need of shooting it.
base stats, have to be fair, not one way or another, otherwise people wouldn't care about that class, id say the devs nailed it, to make your stock weapons your most reliable all-rounders. (I compare them to tf2's stock weapons, your base kit is your best choice because it's reliable and you most likely have the most experience with them so make them fair and balanced.)

I agree with you ,Colton, The musket IS Perfect. because every other weapon has its serious downside, The carbine’s accuracy is low and has low penetration, The horse artillery Is like the Carbine but with an extra barrel, The rifle’s reload is too long, Therefore, The musket balances all of these, With good penetration, An alright reload speed, B A Y O N E T , Good accuracy and penetration, so therefore, this video is valid👍 (This comment sucks)
Although Musket is balance and B A Y O N E T, often use by the pro player which can solo the entire objective map by themself if they want to and it's FREE... i would still prefer (or remain on using) the Carbine + Heavy Saber combo aka the "when Pistol and Musket have a child" combo, the Carbine have a fast reload time almost same as the pistol but with shove and longer range, while Heavy saber is the scuff B A Y O N E T... it may not effective as the B A Y O N E T but still, a weapon is a weapon. Tho that combo is useless as i most of the time would be Surgeon healing my teammate azz off and scream at the top of my lung when seeing my teammate get maul infront of me :sob:
I would do a 🤓 explanation but I'm too lazy but erm, the carbine is just straight better in literally every way, plus due to the short reload and being able to shove you'll actually fire more shots than with the hap because of the hap's longer reload and less checkpoints, plus have you ever considered the FUCKING COST?
In the position of a mobile player (me) the musket is..............................HORRIBLE, The bayonet can be exchanged for a heavy sabre and the blunderbuss is the divine weapon, but before giving your opinion, I am a mobile player, so weapons with two shots (like: nock, dbl Pistol, Horse arty pistol and the blunderbuss) give me more chances of hitting the shot The musket isn't that bad, I just called it that for your attention, I think it's average
@@Yummysoup1 you can cancel the reload to a minimum of 10-11 seconds (same as the musket or blunderbuss), and you won’t really need to load all 7 pellets anyway in most situations

Heavy Sabre is like that

Funny thing is that the rilfes reload time is more historical correct as a professional soldier of the time could get 3-4 shots a minute

same as pike however after equip pike the walking speed will decrease,so i use bayonet instead
