As a 60 year fan of all types of racing, Ross has become my favorite Nascar driver. Besides the fact that he looks like an identical twin of my East Cape, Baja fishing friend!
7:15 Here's the thing. The greatest racers of all time understand something. You always remember what it's like to miss a car payment. To miss the light bill, or to have your house in danger of foreclosure. Whatever it is. You remember those struggles it took to get you into a comfortable position now. You appreciate that comfortable position but never EVER forget the fire and drive it took to get through the struggles. If you drive every race like the light bill depends on it, you get Dale's father. And that man did pretty damn well for himself if you ask me...
This is such a good point, there are a few outliers I feel like, but all of the older generation of greatest drivers had to fight as hard as they could every week because it was they’re only income.
Ross’ family owns a farming company with hundreds of employees. They’re a huge company. Not some small town family farm. He was never going to miss a car payment. Stop it.
@@ScottXC91 You really don't get it. Did he have a safety net? Absolutely. In Farming. Is that what he wanted to do while he was a young man for a living? NO. He wanted to go racing. Guess what. Dale had a safety net too. It was called Fieldcrest Cannon cotton mill. And he did NOT want to be a mill worker the rest of his life. Did Ross's dad help him go racing? You bet. So did Ralph with Dale until the day Ralph passed away. Ross's dad might've kept the lights on for him a few times, but trust me. NASCAR is attempting to put an IMSA product on Oval....it doesn't work. That is why Road Courses are more exciting and why Mustang is dominating IMSA in the races I have watched. Camaro's don't seem to be able to work in IMSA, however, Corvette's are magic. HMS needs to switch to the new Corvette Body...sarcasm. But, there is a sweet spot for each manufacturer and with only a short practice period, they are not likely to find it.
