That 55 fathoms is gorgeous! The sheer beauty makes up for everything it's lacking in specs.

Love the clarity Hardlex provides on my SKX781 and SKX007.

Yeah mate don’t pay retail for 99% of the seiko; unless you want to lose money. However same thing can be said to any other watches in the world

So, if I understand your points correctly:
    1) Hardlex looks better than (uncoated?) sapphire
    2) Hardlex is hard enough.
    3) You have no experience of scratching Hardlex.
    4) A person mostly appreciate a nice, albeit technically flawed design, rather than a boring spec-monster.
    My replies:
    1) May be, I never experienced uncoated sapphire. Looks-wise, I find that geometry matters more than material.
    2) I agree. It's hard enough for certified divers and that's hard enough for me.
    3) I scratch mineral crystals all the time. All of my mineral-topped watches are scratched, except the protected G-shock. Hardlex isn't much better than ordinary mineral, I've scratched the back of my Alpinist just recently.
    4) I agree.
Summary: From a technical standpoint, Hardlex is fine. However, the market has learned to expect AR-coated sapphire above a certain price point. Clomages and microbrands have sapphire with good AR at about 200 $, Seiko starts at 600 $. I think they should bring it to 500 $. (Flat, of course. Domed sapphire is fine at 700 $)

They are exactly the same thing as mineral. I actually prefer them

They are between mineral and sapphire.

Hardlex doesn’t scratch easily. I love my Seikos

I agree, I like Hardlex. The truth is, Hardlex has better clarity simply because it does not show finger oil smudge as foggy coating on the surface that you have to constantly wipe down like on sapphire. Seems like guys that truly know watches like Spencer Klein like Hardlex and beginners for whatever reason automatically put down Seiko Hardlex.

So true mate so so true, I don’t have any problem with sapphire , and absolutely no problem with hardlex

Just because you have not scratched a mineral crystal, does not mean it does not happen...a lot.

There is no better Seiko to show off the beauty of Hardlex than the double domed crystal on the SBBN031 Tuna. But, it does scratch. If i ever replace it, it will be with OEM Hardlex. It is a large part of the Tuna's vibe.

I had an SNZH that was modded to be 55 Fathoms and I gave it away as a gift. I regret that choice

I didn't get it, did you say SNZH5? Is the left one some brand new version? Or is it the orignal SNZH5? It doesn't have a crown protector like the newer Seiko5-s. It looks good!

@@Felix_love_watches I see, there will be 2 remakes soon, black/gold and blue/white versions. To be honest your original SNZH55 looks a little bit better. I have 2 Seikos, but these remakes seem to be good, and aren't too expensive for me. I might buy a 3rd one, when Seiko releases the new SNZH remakes.:-)

Seiko 5 sports brand new 800$.
Next day at the pawnshop it's 50bucks.
At least in Greece that's the case.Nobody buys them any more....
Beautiful watches but unfortunately not everyone appreciates them.

    • @Felix_love_watches

Really? Come on man that’s just in the pawnshop, massive community online and on Facebook, eBay etc…no one selling these 2 at $50 bucks mate.
