Miki Liukkonen speaks about his novel O, subtitles in English. Interview by Claire Saint-Germain, video produced by FILI - Finnish Literature Exchange.
I've just finished the book. It is just amazing, deeply sad and smart. Totally accurate and desperate. For me an important piece that synthetize the 21st century's existential problematics. Wow !
@@vulc1 Miki was a true genious, the best, most talented, most innovative, most creative author this country may have ever seen. At the same time he was also opinionated and a polarizing individual. He looked like a rock star and at times behaved like one. He was a prominent figure and quite vocal of how he felt about the current literary circles in Finland. He enjoyed shaking things up a little bit. In that respect he was NOT shy. But behind the public front, privately, in one-to-one situations he was a very kind, compassionate and warm-hearted person. And extremely - extremely intelligent. There was nothing fake about him, he was brutally open and honest about himself, including his mental health and self-medication. Sadly, for the most part of his life he was also a tormented soul. He suffered from panic attacks, severe depression, anxiety and a some kind of personality disorder. He was in pain, you could tell how vulnerable and fragile he was. That was obvious. He committed suicide on Tuesday (Fourth of July) after an agonizing breakup with his girlfriend four months earlier. Miki lost his mom to cancer at the age of 18. It unfortunately sealed his fate and derailed him for the rest of his life. Now, 15 years later, they are able to reunite. 🖤💔🖤 Words cannot express the sadness we feel about his passing. Miki will be missed and I think he will never be forgotten. Hopefully he found peace - eventually. 🙏
Kiitos kaikesta kauniista Miki⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕
Toivottavasti kukaan ei vietä suihkussa 7h päivässä. Rip Miki😢
