Well done, Bill. Hoping to get that AV reissue. I just upgraded to the 2M blue Ortofon stylus with an acrylic platter, too. A nice configuration for the Debut Carbon. Thanks for sharing this. I've never really tried to remove hype stickers, but your idea of putting them on the new inner sleeve is a good idea as I also replace both sleeves. Cheers, Jeff
I know this is an old vid, but appreciated it. I have similar steps but do a little different for me. I put the paper sleeve back in the record jacket - sans the disc. Inserts such as lyric sheet I do not put in the jacket - but along the back of the album jacket inside the clear album sleeve (Sleeve for all of album not just the static free sleeve the record itself. I also put my record itself in it's new static sleeve behind album jacket. So it is album jacket - inserts - record. I like your process though and really just do my way for ease of getting out what I want when I am ready to play it. My cleaning process is almost identical. One note someone might find helpful: If it is a gatefold I take a piece of waxpaper and put inside the fold (Cut to fit). I live in a humid area and do not have AC as it does not get hot where I live. I do run demhumidifiers but I still worry about a gatefold sticking - though it has never happened for me.
I just picked up Apple Venus myself Bill. The only difference was I threw it right on my turntable. I am going to have to borrow some of those tips. Well done. Sharp editing~ Rob/Boston
You have good taste in music, I keep my cover and inner sleeves separate inside the plastic protective sleeve, just for easier access to the vinyl without having to access the cover each time, I suppose it helps preserve the cover moreso, but most of my collection are second hand records but I do have some original albums 40-50 years old that are like bra4nd new too. I do much prefer vinyl that is pre-1997 as I feel that the audio quality is superior, that is my own opinion and I shall stick to that although I do have some recent albums on vinyl and they seem decent enough quality.
Great way of preserving your records. BTW, they make the same "disk-keeper" sleeves with a round bottom that I use that fit better into the original inner sleeves. Could I ask what brand of goat-hair record brush do you use in the video? Is it the one on Amazon sells for 15 bucks?
Is cleaning a brand new record necessary? I am just wondering. I might buy a Spin Clean some day. All my brand new records i open and play then replace inner sleeve if needed. Hype stickers i use to peel sticker off but now i cut around cellophane and stick in album sleeve. The inner sleeves i use are the ones you slide the record into. Im not a fan of the ones with the flap with glue im afraid I'll accidently get the cover stuck to it and rip it. I have a 2M red Ortofon cartridge that sounds darn good.
Nicely done ! But, one other thing that caught my eye. Your record collection is as of a radio station. Can you listen to all of them, at least once a year ? Or.... ?
Great idea with the clamp on top to flatten the record on the turntable! I have the same disc cleaner bath - question - how do you work it so you don't get drips running down the label?? Cheers, Craig
I enjoyed your video - thanks! Do you find that cleaning your records with a brush on a old turntable before using the Spin Clean gives a better result than the Spin Clean alone? And do you use the Spin Clean fluid on the brushes, or simply use the SpinClean to rinse?
A lot of new records aren't really treated too well. Sometimes they show up static-y, messy, and sometimes even scratched or warped. I've had my share of issues with new records, and cleaning them is just part of the process.
Pretty much what I do - I'm not that good at removing stickers, so I cut the cellophane and put in the sleeve. But every new record gets a bath and a new sleeve.
Yes you clean brand new records because from the factory they have a film on them that releases the record from the record making process which is on the record this is why you clean new records
I have a question...I have some albums that have not been played in years. They are stored on a record shelf in their sleeves and jackets..What should I do before I play them?
Someone had commented why would u clean a new record Well let me tell u Even new records have to be cleaned because there is dirt particles that float around in record factories if u are an avid vinyl collector u would know this
Wow, a real house with dirty laundry, wood paneling, and a cool space for vinyl! Awesome, keep it real! Thanks.
And most importantly of all, don't forget to listen to. ;-))
Grettings from Austria.
Great vid...Record collecting is a whole ritual.😎

Thank you, Rob. I clean all new records before I play them the first time, then a quick once-over with the carbon fiber brush before each listen.

First thing I’d do is send it back. The sleeve has a bumped corner.

Purest Audio brush at $11.99 is the closest to what I have. I only use that brush on new records.

Thank you, Craig. Honestly, only 1 out of 10 records get any water on the label, and I dab it off with a towel before putting it out to air dry.
If You use the solution that came with It, You shouldn't get any water on the Label. I never do.
Is that XTC on Geffen, Virgin or Nettwerk?
Ape House.

In this video, The Spin Clean is distilled water rinse only.
Even the top of the line disc cleaners always do a Pre-Wash.
The price we have to pay to keep our LP’s in good condition.
What the outer sleeve you are using?
if it is brand spanking new, i throw it on the table and play it

A carbon fiber brush to get rid of dust before each play, if the record is already clean.
not to break balls, but isn't that cloth just putting fibers back on to the record?
Also static
Two words: Okki Nokki ;)
repair this poor old Turntable^^
