    I almost didn't buy mine bc of all the issues I saw on RUclips reviews but for a micro 9 with a really good trigger in the mix I decided to take a chance. 200 rounds per range trip times 5 range trips and it cycles 115 and 124 gr (Blazer, Federal, Fiocchi, and Aguila) and 115 and 124 gr (Hornady Critical Defense) without one hiccup. It's crazy how experiences can vary.

      My new MC9 manufactured 3/2024 has no issues so far and has eaten 4/5 different types of ammo round nose, snub, and hornady defense. waited to buy mine and so far it seems Canik has made adjustments to fix the ongoing issues presented in early runs.
      Also left my slide locked open for about 5 days while also racking the slide periodically. Field stripped and cleaned / lubed before first firing attempts.
      Also convinced some folks are riding the slide release up or down with their thumb since its so long which could contribute to failure to return to battery and trigger press sends it the rest of the way.

      From my understanding, there's a bad batch of MC9s with feed ramp issues. They say if you change to the threaded barrel it fixes it. I'm about 500-600 rounds in mine now without a issue

    Bought my MC9 at its launch in March 2023. I have 12k rounds down mine, and the last 4k of those are with a compensator. Zero issues on mine, except some very cheap Monarch 115gr steel cased FMJ. It does like that round, but I haven't found any others it doesn't like.
    The early MC9s were known for failure to return to battery problems and I'd say I got lucky. The newer builds since about Dec 2023 seem to be fixed with a revised recoil spring and feed ramp redesign. I track forum and redit posts on complaints, and they've really died down on newer buiilds

    • @keithrange4457
      @keithrange4457 3 месяца назад +2

      @brandonsilva353 Disruptive Defense makes comps for Canik guns, I have their gen2 flat nose dual port comp. It requires a threaded barrel that is only supplied by Canik's US webstore. Cost was about $200 total together.
      A company 45Blast makes a pic rail mounted comp for the MC9 that costs $140. I don't think it is quite as effective because being rail mounted, the tolerance of where the bullet passes out has to be much looser and more gas will escape forward than up, but its a valid path as well

    I broke mine in with approximately 350 rounds of 124gr fmj before switching to 115gr fmj for a few hundred more. Of those I had 1 slide lock failure on an empty mag. I then have been using a few types of hollow points with zero issues so far. It's a very accurate gun! Breaking it in with 124gr fmj is probably the key solving the ftf others are having..would highly recommend canik!

    It's the return to battery issue known with the MC9 Mete. It's know by Canik because they replace the guide rod if you send it in or they send it to you. I'm not sure if Canik has fixed the problem in production, but what I can say Canik does know. Canik Mete fanboys with their anecdotal takes is always funny to see. No better than Ford owners that say "My truck has 500k miles and it runs perfect", but 40% of owners are having issues.

    I was confused as to why your trigger travel is so much longer than mine, but (at least with mine) it really has almost 2 walls - it initially builds pressure but then you really get to the actual trigger wall after some travel and it is a super short break, which is why the reset is so short it is essentially the same distance.

    The only reason it had a return to battery issue is because the length of the barrel is short, if you use a higher grain round for the first hundred or so rounds it will break the spring in and then there won't be an issue with any grain ammo you use after that. This gun is an exceptional subcompact/micro compact. Only reason I say subcompact/micro compact is because it bigger than most micro guns

    micro compacts tend to have a pretty hefty spring, Springfield hellcat especially. After breaking in it usually fixes it. also flatnose ammo like HP have a harder time getting up that ramp vs ball since the angle hardstops on a non-broken in spring

    I have realized with my Canik that when it comes to defensive ammo it will have failure to feed depending on how wide the tip of your hollow point is. If you use something with a narrower tip it works flawlessly and of course no issues with FMJ

    Had 1 replaced and was goingvsend the replacent back would not feed hollow points. We'll polished the slide really well and now will feed every hollow point. If you notice when slide open barrel is sloppy loose. If use the slide release this can be part of feed issue. If you pull the slide back to feed a round that action pull the barrel back on forces feed ramp down so ammo feeds better. It's definitely a canik flaw but like I said polish the heck out of that ramp should help with problem.

    I bought mine in January on an impulse before reading any reviews. I had been saving money for a gun, even though my wife said I didn't need another gun. My first and last gun I bought was a used Glock 19 in the mid 90's and I wanted a micro for conceal carry. Anyway, I bought the MC9 and finally took it to the range on April 1st. I did read reviews since I got my gun and I was concerned I might have bought a poor pistol. But after shooting this pistol, I fell in love with it. I hadn't shot my pistol in maybe ten years, but my groupings were great. The only issue I had was the magazines wouldn't drop, but I fixed that in about 10 minutes and they fall easily. I love this gun and feel sorry for those that have issues with theirs.

      @juanrojas6805 I took some blue painter's tape and wrapped the 15-round magazine 2-3 times right up to the top. I then took my wife's hair dryer and heated the handle for a bit, then slid the magazine into the handle. I applied a little more heat once the mag was in. Then let it cool down. I pulled the tape off the mag and put the mag in the handle, then pushed the mag release and it drops easily. I have bought a couple 18-round magazines and drop easily as well, loaded or empty, the mags fall easily. I have sleeves for the 15 and 18-round mags, so there're no gaps, just one nice flush handle. I hope this works forever you.

Last thing I can think of is maybe getting a new recoil spring sent from canik. Wanted to make this my daily carry but due to the issues ive experienced i ended up sticking with the p365x macro tacops as my everyday carry

    Upon reading your article, i quickly noticed you reviewed the TP9SC, i am looking for a CCW and am a new gun owner, was wondering if you would do a side by side comparison? To me the guns seem VERY similar if not for the size... again, I am very much a beginner, but the reliability of the MC9 he me worried. The TP9SC has a better track record.... sigh... help?

      The SC is simply the cut-down version of the regular TP9 series and shares most of the same internal geometry that's been proven for years. The main difference with the MC is thickness (SC is about 1.25", the MC is about 1"). The issue with the MC seems to come from the fact they had to change their tooling and molds for a thinner gun, and they haven't worked out all the bugs yet.

    I’ve had failure-to-feed and return-to-battery issues. I think the FTF is fixed with a new spring from Century Arms, but the RTB I’m still working on. I’ve filed the burrs on the top edges of the plastic down at the slide. I need to get back out to the range to test it and fire more rounds through it, but I’m pretty strapped for time right now, so that’s been difficult. I love the gun, though. Canik makes some attractive guns.

    The feeding issue has been ongoing since the MC9 came out. People talk about how great Canik is yet they have to immediately do repairs to the guns. A good trigger means nothing if it doesn't go bang when you pull that great trigger.

    I bought one 3 months agos. Its a beautiful gun with and great trigger. With it comes a lot of things, great for its price,, but in my EXPERIENCE IT'S AN UNRELIABLE GUN. Mine has been failing since day one. Fails to go to battery, its jams a lot and it light strikes the bullet. (everytime I take it to the shooting range). Century it not of much help. I bought it for self protection but I think I will just take it to the shooting range. I don't trust it in case of a self defense.

    The Mete MC9 is infamous for out of battery issues. Sad to see they haven’t fixed it yet. There’s a fix, but why bother?

      You think someone would pay me for a review that shows a gun struggling? 😊 My qualifying statement at the end of the video was to make sure you tested various ammunitions. Once we got past the feeding issue of one brand of ammo, the gun ran flawlessly.

    • @KinetikES
      @KinetikES 4 месяца назад +1

      True! The thing is if it struggles with one ammo then it could have issues with other ammo. From what I’ve read/heard it has to do with low power factor ammo and the springs being deigned more for NATO +P loads. Most modern pistols eat almost any ammo you feed them (except maybe cheap junk-food ammo). Too many “ooh oohs” for my liking. I had seriously considered the MC9, until I saw all these issues. This just adds to the evidence. There are other issues like short barrel but tall grip, opposite of what I consider important in a small carry pistol (taller grip = higher possibility of printing, shorter barrel = slightly lower velocity). This is just IMHO.
