    I just bought a Sonic Squire Bronco bass (red) used but barely played with a small amp for $200 Canadian, also comes with a jack and gig bag, so I think I got a pretty good deal.

    Sounds great. This really seems like an incredible deal. The fact that it has a 4-saddle bridge and satin finish neck make it a serious contender regardless of your budget. I just wonder about how noisy that single-coil pickup is in a room with fluorescent lights, and also how consistent the fretwork is. (Still… for 200 bucks I could probably live with - or just fix - any issues it had.)

      There’s a whole cottage industry of boutique pickups made for the Bronco/Musicmaster. Although some actually love the cheap-ass guitar pickup vibe.

      is there any good suggestion for a pickup replacement for squier classic vibe 50's precision (telecaster) bass single coil pickup? @@davidsmisc1351

    • @trappenweisseguy27
      @trappenweisseguy27 3 месяца назад +1

      Many replace the pickup because it’s a six pole Strat pickup under the cover and the strings are not always under a pole piece. That’s why blade pickups are a common replacement, no worries about an inconsistent magnetic field.

    I am a tall man, but I always struggled with longscale because of my dyspraxic. For me, a Squier CV '60s Mustang Bass transformed the playing experience. I'm thinking of selling my P-Bass and getting a Bronco as a backup, though I might have the pickup replaced with a true four pole.

      They’re the stock Mini tuners also used in the Squier Mini P.
      A VERY good little tuner which is much better than what was on previous Broncos.
      Bridge appears to be same as well to the mini P and is again an upgrade in similar fashion.
      Neither are “premium” but don’t necessitate swapping as once was such for the Bronco and affinity Bronco.

    I plan to get one in Arctic White. I love that it's said to be lightweight. Curious how much weight that is, but I guess I'll ask the music stored. (Am in U.S. sorry.) It's really for me to do some Acapella app recordings in my bedroom. I have an acoustic uke bass, and that hasn't worked out at all.

    Thanks for the review. However, I don't get why the pitch to sell those basses is always towards guitarists, kids and small hands. It is a short scale bass with a nice tone, great quality for the price, that even established bassists can use and enjoy.

      Depends on your musical taste and style you play.

    • @ld4067
      @ld4067 11 месяцев назад +1

      any set meant for short scale bass should work fine. i've even put regular d'addarios on my 30" EB-3 copy; i just had to trim more off the end. really it depends on the feel and sound you want.
      roundwounds (like in the demo) will have a bit of grip to them and will sound much brighter.
      flatwounds will be smooth to the touch and generally have a warmer, less treble-y sound. i switched to them because i'm into jazz and reggae lately and they're a lot of fun on a short scale like this. they also can last pretty much forever if you wipe them down when they get gross 🧹

    The Sonic Series Bronco is serious upgrade to the old Affinity series Bronco. It really is the best sounding and playing short scale bass that money can buy if you just don't wanna spend a lot of cash!
    The Affinity's Agathis body sounded dull in comparison to the Poplar Sonic series body, and the lighter weight of the poplar body is also a big improvement over the old one. I liked the more vintage look of the older 2 saddle bridge more, but the four saddle bridge is indeed better to intonate. I was suprised to see that the ceramic pick up has a whopping 12K! output, but that gives this bass it's full on and gritty sound imho. I did change the stock pu to a vintage style Alnic Music Master bridge as I use my Bronco as in conjunction with my Squier Mustang bass.
    I have an old "Batz Maru" Affinity Bronco pick guard (from the Hello Kitty series) that I might slap on my Sonic series bass, although it will need some work to alter the controls...

      Plus you can easily swap the pickup to something more powerful, but judging by the samples here it packs quite a punch.
