"Elbows are ugly. Make them disappear."--my instructor, c. 1992. The actors in the Glee segment were never taught this.
LOL ballet instructors have the best quotes.
So are knees
My ballet instructor: your dégagé must be 2 eyeballs off the floor! (this has now become an inside joke)
Mine used to say ballerinas don't have elbows hahaha
How revolting. I’d like to see this dreadful teacher get through life without elbows.
I almost cried when Rachel from Glee went en pointe. I wanted to yell at whoever made her do that. It's sooo dangerous.
Yes - I felt the same when I was watching the show. They had 2 very good choreographers on Glee, so I was surprised they did that.
RIGHT?!
Ryan Murphy is a little cray 🤷🏼♀️
When you look at her feet she’s also on the outside of her feet it looks like an ankle could snap at any second
@@nouki000001 Ik! I feel so bad for the actress. She probably didn't even realize how dangerous that was...
Taylor swift came across as a real sweetheart in that interview, she was so nice and respectful of ballet dancers’ hard work, she wasn’t afraid to have a go, and she wasn’t afraid to laugh at herself! 10/10 attitude
This is why I love herrr
@@addieschmit9366 sameeee 🥺😍
She is actually super nice and a sweetheart from what I've heard/witnessed... just don't throw a kegger on the beach in front of her house. I've seen her walk up to little girls who were obviously fangirling but too shy to approach her and she would just say hello and ask the girl what her favorite song is or something like that.
IK!!! she clearly picked to do her shoot based on ballet because she’s fascinated by it but she didn’t try to say she was a ballerina or that she was dancing on pointe she didn’t take it to far but she did express her love for it and her interest in it
All of the lifts in the Glee number are obviously to minimize the amount of time she has to actually be on her feet on pointe lmao
*en pointe
@@meganjones4301 oui oui
Josephine fitting Taylor Swift? Yes please!
Yeaaaah!!
I may actually die of excitement
Heck yes!
Omg such an underrated comment
Yesssssssss!!!!!!! 🤩🤩🤩
The girl with actual pointe shoes is Isabella fonte. She is an actual ballet dancer.
Yes, she is really good
She may be a dancer who is en pointe but she’s technically not a ballerina she’s not planing on going pro she’s an Instagram dancer
Yeah, I’ve never seen her actually dance, it’s more of poses in pointe shoes. I wouldn’t exactly call it ballet dancing.
@@sasha.casha.simakov although her Instagram ext may just be poses I believe she does do ballet classes as well because without the training she probably wouldn’t be able to do splits /leg holds also from what I have heard I believe she is a trained ballet dancer
yeah, shes so good!!
My little ballerina Glee heart was so nervous for Lea Michele when she had to do that pointe scene. I was sitting there yelling at the screen “please don’t break your ankles!!!!!”
SAAAAMME
I doubt she's ever danced en pointe, but as someone who got her start on Broadway as a child, I'm sure she's had at least some ballet training, on top of the other styles she would have learned.
@@megans7504 Oh i'm sure she has ballet training, most performers do, but I agree. I doubt she's ever had pointe training. She's not over her box and she's sickling.
ME TOO! I was dying when I watched that scene, and my family all thought I was crazy, and that she was great. 🤦🏼♀️
Her when talking about glee: “this is like so serious but like so hilarious. I don’t know if I should cry or laugh”
Me: yep, pretty much sums up the whole show
I had a dance instructor who was obsessed with making sure that our knees were aligned properly. If your knees were out of alignment, she would always yell, "that's airport dancing! There will be no airport dancing here!!!" The first time she said that, we all cracked up - after we figured out that she was referring to strippers.
😂😂😂
Lea Michelle is trained in Musical Theatre so she must have taken a ballet class somewhere along the road but clearly not en pointe or at least not in a very long time. (I used to dance en pointe, but I quit about 9 years ago, it’s been so long that my ankles are not what they used to be...)
True!
the first video the girl on pointe i think is isabella fonte. she's actually a trained ballet dancer.
Yeah she is
NICE!
She is
do you know what video that is by chance?
@@danmi7 It's an instagram video from the account @modelsdoingballet
When you said “nice fish” during the Glee segment, I was like “and nice sickled foot.” Lol!!!
It’s crazy how that glee scene was almost a decade ago, and I still remember my horror from when I watched Lea going on pointe.
The whole ballet world collectively cringed
I really loved watching the Taylor Swift video because she goes so much in-depth behind the scenes and she just shows that she is a fun person.
the first girl en pointe is Isabella Fonte and she is a professionally trained dancer/ballerina and model. She has also been in a few Jordan Matter videos.
I came to the comments to see if anyone else recognized her
@@aminamunz2376 same

I can relate to Taylor Swifts enthusiasm in regards to Ballet. I did it as a child for a few years but my teacher bullied me the whole time for not being skinny so I eventually quit but I absolutely adore ballet dancers and the art of ballet. I try and see the ballet as often as I can.
Omg....I CAN’T with the fake dancers. You are so right...there are boatloads of awesome, beautiful, capable ACTUAL ballerinas out there, why do we need to use a model?
ikr.. it makes actual dancers look like fools.
taylor is so adorable and sweet in the interview for the ballet portion of the shake it off music video! she was so astonished by the skill of the ballet dancers it was so sweet!! i loved it !
"its so serious but so hilarious and i dont know if i should cry or laugh" is one of the best descriptions of glee ive ever heard
i love how taylor swift complimented and appreciated ballerinas...and it surprises me that she can do splits and stand on pointe... oh oh oh... can i say...you remind me of park shin hye
I get really mad when people especially celebrities just decide to do pointe because its cute or something. Ballet dancers train for years to be on pointe. Its dangerous and insulting when random people do it for fun. I had a girl that is not a dancer ask to borrow my pointe shoes for some random ballet they were making up for an English project. I was like "well the shoe is fitted to fit my foot, not yours and you would probably break your ankle." She thought I was being a bitch but its true
if you wanna try to do pointe, why not? if smth happens, its their responsibility. let people be, stop gatekeeping shit
Marissa Urias I think that’s exactly her point... pun intended😂😂
@@zenka3018 it’s not her fault she wants to stop people from totally disgracing this art form she spent years of her life devoted to.
@@vivianchen8607 yeah I totally agree she should stand up for herself and her art, and it’s quite nice she didn’t want the other girl to seriously injure herself simply bc she had a stark misconception about ballet. Shame she didn’t believe her but yeah. Pointe shoes are also super expensive I wouldn’t give them to anyone else if I were a ballerina. They can be $70+
@@zenka3018 its not just preventing this person from breaking their ankle is also preventing this person from destroying an expensive personally fit item. It's like giving a 5 year old a professional race car and saying have fun.
I think we need a Josephine fitting Taylor Swift for points shoes video. 😀
That would be the highlight of my life. Just bury me after because that's where I would peak.
@@ThePointeShop this NEEDS to happen
I love how Taylor Swift acknowledges the dancers and their hard work.
Also, beautiful performances by the ladies in Glee.
Also, the first group of ladies had good flexibility
I love how Tay respects and includes real ballet dancers
I hadn’t watched that clip of Taylor in forever but I forgot how much fun it is but also how amazing it was like even just the background stuff
"I don't know if I should cry or laugh". 🤣Love your vids!
It would be so fun to see you react to videos of ballerinas breaking in their shoes! I love watching those videos because each ballerina does things a little different. It would be interesting to see if you would recommend different types of shoes for ballerinas just based on what they do to break them in
The way I NEVER got on pointe correctly in my 4ish years of doing it and TSwift did it in one day... 🥺
Taylor has mentioned she does/did take ballet classes as an adult
And Taylor Swift actually does have a ballerina’s body...naturally thin, with long legs and arms couldn’t really see her feet though. Her music video is actually pretty funny..her ballet moves are exactly like me trying to sing! 🩰😂 🎶 😂
I love Taylor! Watching her fan girl over the trained dancers is so sweet.
It is your turn now J!!! Get fitted and show us your bourées... you have the gift! For sure! In my opinion the aesthetics of ballet are Extreme nowadays... I would like to start an adult amateur company to spread the word that we are all free to do whatever we want as long as we are strong enough. Beauty is everywhere but if you don't find it inside of you will never see it!
i LOVE that! I rarely put pointe shoes on but I did just to show you how different pointe shoes fit in the Wish Video: ruclips.net/video/wMIOAZDXElk/видео.html
@@ThePointeShop THANK-YOU for your amazing videos... a whole variation XOXO
Funny story, I’m from the same town as Taylor Swift and my hip hop teacher taught her when she was little
Omg that’s great.
Woah, Caitlin! Just flex a little harder, just a little harder
Josephine is more entertaining than the videos. 😂😂😂😂
LOL thank you
The scene from glee makes a LOT more sense with audio.
I love her laugh!!! 💙💙💙
Ballet like opera and classical music are elite art forms that take years to master. My respect for the amount of discipline and dedication it takes to make it as professionals in these fields is immense.
But ballet insiders probably should realize that hiring non-classical dancers to portray the real thing in commercials and still photo adds, is usually done out of ignorance and because the ads are aimed at general audiences who can't tell the difference between a professional and thin woman. All these ads with non-dancing models aren't some conspiracy to insult the ballet community or to cheat some classical dancer out of a job.
I really enjoy ballet and have always wandered why it isn't more popular. I know that the classical arts are not popular arts and that they never can compete for audiences on THAT level. But there have been ballet booms before like the 1970's and those eras make me wonder why there hasn't been a surge in popularity more recently. Then I encounter the snarky attitudes of SOME ballet dancers and ballet followers and I realize, that their condescending attitudes certainly don't help.
Great video! I’m going on pointe next week and im excited!
Lea Michelle looks like a linebacker with no neck!! Taylor Swift just totally gained some respect from me. She is so down to earth and actually respects the art of ballet!! Great Video!!
This was super fun, I'd definitely enjoy more reaction videos to ballet in media and movies and stuff 😊
Ballerina fan gurl here. I'm 31 and will be starting ballet lessons this fall. Im freaking excited, hopefully I can get on Pointe in a few years.
Love your videos .
This video was everything I needed today. :)
I stumbled upon this channel recently but I LOVE HER she is seriously the best.
I live my dreams of being a dancer through these videos
Thank you! As a photographer and ballet student of many years, it drives me nuts to see fake ballerinas! As if a pair of pointe shoes makes a dancer!!!
When I see you laughing and comment I laugh so hard with you!😂😂😂😂
I’m early yay! I love your videos!
❤️ this video. You should do more of these type of videos.
I have taken Ballet as an adult. It is no joke. I was an athlete when I was younger. BALLET IS THE GREATEST STRENGTH TRAINING AND TRUEST ATHLETES OF ALL!
Aww I wish you would have done more. I loved hearing what you had to say
love this!!
I’ve been waiting for someone to do this
I loved this video it's so funny!
I LOVED THIS
Ok...I love ballet...wish I could have taken more lessons as a kid...these videos make my day!
I had to train for years before I was allowed on pointe shoes. I had to special exercises to strengthen my feet and ankles but I absolutely stress it takes years to prepare for pointe shoes.
Josephine having a giggle 🤭🩰 Yes, please! What do you think of Black swan? (I know that they were somehow ballet trained.)
Oh, did you watched some of the World Ballet Day Thursday?
Black Swan had beautiful ballet (Credit to the ballet double). But I was so distracted by how scary the movie was LOL
@@ThePointeShop yes, it was! It's kind of like when I was 5 watching Jaws: you want to see it, but not too much. Peeping through your hands.
Shout out from Utah, TS used the tutus from our very own Ballet West's Swan Lake production!! 💖💞💗💓♥️💓❤️
that's awesome!
What was the first thing you were looking at? Not linked and I couldnt hear you mention it.
Can you please react to that infamous Free People ad from a few years ago lol
LOL oh boy.
I went into a dance shop looking for a fedora saw the turn boards and got into a conversation of how rollerblading is soo difficult especially on point its like ballet turns on pointe except your tip of youre big toe is around 4 to 5 inches off the ground
Lol “Nice Fish!”
i was so uncomfy when rachel berry went on pointe because i was like for a character who is such a perfectionist in performance shes not doing very well 🤠
There were three ballerinas that were stars in the 30, 40, 50s. Moira Shearer, Leslie Caron, and Ziti Jean Mere. They were classically trained. Hollywood always choreographed their ballet numbers to be a fast as they can go and twirl as much as possible. They did not show the beautiful control and footwork of classical ballets. They alway put the ballet dancers in bare legs and colored point shoes, which is glaring! Cyd Cherise never gets fully up on her points and dances on the flats. And don’t get me started on the “professional” couple dancing Swan Lake in Midnight Lace!!
New subscriber! Former ballet dancer, loves these videos!!
I love this!!!!
I saw a really amazing dancer who combined pointe and pole, and it was really interesting!
Loved this....and you are so right....hire someone that knows what they are doing.
Hi Josephine!! First comment oh my god!!!! Love you!!!!!Happy Halloween or whatever!!!!💗💗🩰🩰
what was the first music video
Lea Michelle’s flimsiness is what kills it for me 😂😂
Taylor Swift is truly adorable
What video is the first one it's not linked
Earlyyy, hiiii i love your vidss! I am a ballerina too! Hope to get fitted by u soon😊
I also want to get fitted by her. She's the best!💗🩰
Would love that!
This was hilarious and cringe worthy re-watching the scene where Lea Michele's character does ballet and goes en pointe. I was shaking my head the entire episode. Also seeing Groffsauce (Jonathan Groff) pre-Hamilton fame made me giggle. So over the top! There is one thing to note that Lea Michele's character Rachel Berry is considered a triple threat. She can sing, she can act, she go do jazz hands with the best of them and go en pointe. This does not mean the actress who is following a script is deciding on her own to do ballet. Her character is the dancer here, not Lea Michele. I'm sure she was excited and probably feeling trepidation that Zach Woodlee who did the Choreo for Glee had this in mind, but the entire show was filled with mostly non-dancers (Heather Morris being the exception) in the leads. Having said that, I just discovered your channel and love it! I am not a dancer myself, but I love supporting the arts. Performers are extremely hard working and they gift us with much needed beauty in the world.
Okay but those shoulder earrings 😂
Can someone please tell me who and what the first video is mabye a link or the name of the music video
Where can i watch the first video?
what video was the first one
This is exactly why I love Taylor Swift soo much!!
I think the girl in pointe shoes in the first clip is an actual ballet dancer. Im pretty sure I've seen her dance before I just can't remember where
I think I got a size too small for my first pair. Still using them but I could use some advice because I have no idea what to do. Thank you for your time.
wait was the first clip from ?
The first few seasons of Glee are intentionally satirical so it's ok to laugh lmao
What's the first video? 😅 I can't find it anywhere 😩🙏
MegaRed commercial with models in pointe shoes! Ahhhhhhhh! Add that one in next time lol.
What was that first video? there isnt a link
that's why I love TS

What's the first video? I can't find a reference or link
In the first video you watched she is actually a professional dancer if watch Jordan matter a lot she is in his videos on point
oh man. i’ve been dancing my whole life and it still took me years to get en pointe!!!! these celebs gotta be careful!
That was fun!
You should react to Lindsey Stirling, when she goes up on pointe in some of her music videos. ie. Shatter Me and Santa Baby
I learned to do the splits by age 6. It was not because of ballet, but I did become a professional ballerina later.
I was thinking the same with this ballet stuff in Glee. Let us stick to what we know Rachel.
Omg I remeber watching that Glee episode and I sent a screenshot of it to my group chat and screamed how her feet looked disgusting and they were like, wtf u talkin bout LMAO
Where is tge link to the first video? It's not in description box
Please react to Lindsey Stirling's "Shatter Me" music video 😂
Or her Santa baby
rihanna goes on pointe in her Umbrellausic video as well
