I used your previous videos to build an ancestor dashboard with locations, timeline and decade cards. I linked that dashboard to a research sources databases and added a linked research log, tasks and projects. I also created a biography database with rolls up of my citations, summaries and notes from the sources database. That has really helped me write the biographies of each ancestor. I loved seeing what you’ve achieved since the earlier videos. I have a whole lot more work improving what I’ve done after seeing yours 😂 Thanks so much for sharing. Notion is so well suited to family history I can’t understand why more people aren’t using it for that!
You are the most knowledgable person i seen on Notion and other apps. Have indepth knowledage and also explains very nicely and simple way for anybody to understand easily. Many thanks for these informative videos 🙏
This is absolutely amazing. I would love to hear more about how you are writing your family history up after you research. I LOVE this genealogy content!
Not sure what to say, but ‘Wow’ and suffice to say I am blown away by the amount of work you have put into this! I have just decided to record and research some of my family history and obviously your video which I am glad I found has been immensely helpful. Thank you very much.
I have my family tree research in Notion (that's how I started my journey with Notion few years ago tbh :) ) but your video gave me so many new ideas :D Thank you!
I expanded the ID# to contain sub's so instead of just 10 you can do 10.1 and 10.2 this allows me to handle 2nd spouses and step children. This notion database really helped me map out a bloodline for Italian Citizenship, using relation and rollup to map to-do's for finding paperwork and completing forms from discovery through to apostil.
Thank you so much for the template! I've just about filled up to Generation 15 and wouldn't have been able to do it in an organized way without this, I really appreciate it! I know it's not compatible with cousins as you mentioned in the video, but is it possible to modify the formulas or add an option to designate as a cousin? I've been trying to tinker with it but haven't found anything that works well
this is such an amazing resource thank you so much! 💜but i was wondering how you would enter occupation and school in family event/timeline? or would you not add that info there? thank you~
Hi, Thanks for this video I am a complete noob at using notion. Correct me if Im wrong but Im guessing the way to see and view the Family Tree using mermaid is not included in the video?
This is amazing! I am getting started making my own instead of just using familysearch. I do have a question though. How do you shown that one member got divorced and remarried? Of course that person wouldn't be related to the root member but say that family member has kids with root member's family, now those kids are related to root member. For example, my mom and dad got divorced when I was very young. My mom married my step dad when I was 5. I have half siblings from my mom and step dad. I added in my half siblings to my notion and added in my step dad to show whom their father is. But, I don't know how to show that my mother and father divorced and mother is now married to step father except through family events. Or how do you show if someone has a child in our family but is not married to the father but the father comes to family events anyway? My family starts to get confusing LOL
Hi, I love your video and I am using this to show how captive Orcas are related to each other ... I am having a bit of difficulty to handle all the inbred issues ... but I am just getting going really. I noticed though that you are showing the same grey male sign for New Woman (Not Related) and I was wondering where I can get a corresponding grey female sign and overwrite the template accordingly. Maybe you can help me with this. Thanks a lot. BR, Annette
Also, How do you change the template of a person ? I thought someone was my aunt and turns out she is one of my grandparents. So, originally, I had her in the non through template. I did change the through to Through instead of NonThrough but want the template to change as well.
great work but I have a question as to the use of this. Do you use this instead of desktop software? I am new to Notion and just came upon your video and this was my first question. Thank you
Notion does have desktop and you can sign in with same username and password and get to it that way. I use both the software and the web based app. Just depends on what opens first for me. When I opened the template and duplicated it into my workspace, it opened the web based app. So I am just using it from there.
Hi! Great video sent this video to my well-researched mom. This was very detailed! Just curious did you record this with Loom? Have you found any automation examples since recording this video? I know Zapier and Notion have some pretty powerful integrations. Thanks for any advice!
Huge fan from Alaska, especially of your genealogy-related templates! I have a problem with dates. I enter "Jun 20, 1870" and it shows as "June 19, 1870" - always a day off. Any ideas on how to correct this? Thanks for all you do!
I think I’m going to make a notion too but it will be scaled down a lot compared to this because I’m rubbish with notion but I think having a digital record as well as my ancestry tree for things and information i find on my family would be good
Should create a course! I know many people would be keen. I didn't like August's system, more complicated than it has to be and seriously costs $40k? Bruh?!
This is so impressive that I had to put it on Watch Later to set down and watch it thoroughly… however, I didn’t get why you need the ID # for members of the family tree, especially that you repeat the number for members at the same level and it won’t help in filtering, sorting or grouping, then why do you need ID# for???
There are other methods of sorting if that’s what you mean? Like a member with an ID of 10 can indeed occur more than once, but there are more properties to give that person a unique identifier like branch and family. You can sort those properties as well. In addition, that ID number is calculating a generation number that can also be very useful for sorting. Also for siblings, you can add a sort for date of birth.
I am also unable to add members to the table. The plus sing is missing in Notion. But others are getting the template to work even three weeks ago. I can't figure out what I'm missing.
Nice one. A lot of people have watched your budget management notion video and we need answers on how to edit the numbers in the budget and average tabs. Please kindly respond and I have personally DMed you instagram.

That's brilliant - what a lot of thought you have put into it.
This is absolutely amazing. I would love to hear more about how you are writing your family history up after you research. I LOVE this genealogy content!
And the best part is that you've documented ✨your✨genius with these amazing videos you create. What a gift, thank you again!

totally amazing, this dashboard is sensational

I am having difficulty adding 2nd spouses and step children and divorces. How did you do that? Also, explain the decimal numbers to me, please.
Love your videos! You're so inspirational.
Fantastic! Thank you so much. I am an adoptee tracing my roots. I'm also a Notion fanatic. So this is perfection to me.
Thank you so much for the template! I've just about filled up to Generation 15 and wouldn't have been able to do it in an organized way without this, I really appreciate it!

Love this dashboard but a little confused over the handling of cousins. How do I make them display correctly?
this is incredible, you're a wizard! thanks for all your invaluable content. you deserve so many more subs!
Do you think you could make a simpler version of this? I’ve been looking for a family tree template to use for my sims game 😂
this is such an amazing resource thank you so much! 💜but i was wondering how you would enter occupation and school in family event/timeline? or would you not add that info there? thank you~
To me, that makes sense to do. Like a graduation. But, maybe have to add it in yourself instead of using a template to do so.

@@musicchannel1809 I meant do they use Notion instead of Genealogy software ☺️

I don't have that issue but I do numbers instead. 06/20/1870 for example instead of typing it out as Red did in the video.

Eek! I am very happy to see this video!
Hi.
How do I manage divorces, children of a parent with a new wife/husband, new marriages, siblings with a different parent?
This is my question too.
Damn! Underrated Channel!
Should create a course! I know many people would be keen. I didn't like August's system, more complicated than it has to be and seriously costs $40k? Bruh?!
I love this, but how can I create a family tree?
It's more like a family database rather than a tree. But still created like a tree in finding parents of each child in the system.
Потрясающе!

@@RedGregory Thanx a lot that was helpful!!!
Thanks a ton 🙏🏼
I thought you might use Mermaid to make the family tree. Great video!
Hello does she mention using mermaid in this video?
Muchas gracias. Me sirvio mucho
Hey, am I the only one who for some reason can't add to the table???
You have to be tricky about it and add to the parents page to add a new child to the table.
I am also unable to add members to the table. The plus sing is missing in Notion. But others are getting the template to work even three weeks ago. I can't figure out what I'm missing.
