Wow, this is the most useful retime tutorial on Resolve I've came across. I often get confused with the UI and just manually cut the clips or use Fusion but this is gonna be super useful in future for me. Thanks.
Well, you made the freeze frame effect easy and used a fitting example to showcase it. That is like a 20-second effort (for me, 5-second for you). Thank you.
Finally, a clear explanation of retime controls! When I tried searching for tutorials about this a while back all the videos were about the curves only and didn't even mention this other way of controlling clip speed and I'm glad to finally have that knowledge gap filled ✌
Hi thanks for commenting. I talk about the Retime and Scaling settings (with regards to retiming) in a previous video. ruclips.net/video/2EPflZ0vgDo/видео.htmlsi=xv3pzixsceKiw950 Hope this helps! 😎
THIS IS A VERY CLEAR AND HELPFUL VIDEO FOR VIDEO EDITING, have you considered changing the title to like THE ONLY SPEED TUTORIAL YOULL EVER NEED FOR DAVINCI RESOLVE or sth, and change the thumbnail accordingly cause I think the image is too small for people to see what the video is about. I say this because the views isn't matching how good the content is.
Awesome! Thank you for commenting and thanks for the tips! I think you might be right and that my titles and thumbnails are understated. I'll take your comments onboard and look at updating things! Much appreciated 🙏🏻
Not as far as I’m aware. However, if you just want to adjust the whole clip to 40% of its original speed, you can do this in the Speed Change controls in the Inspector. HTH.
Thank you, very clear ! I regret not being able to directly type the percentage and having to choose between the presets or the mouse. This would be a nice improvement for a future version, right?
I agree. It's a shame we can't do this at the moment. Being able to type in a custom speed for a speed segment like you can do in the speed controls in the Inspector for a whole clip would be very useful! Sounds like on for the feature request forum! forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewforum.php?f=33
i have two question sir first when copy speed ramp from clip to another is not working second when rest clip from speed ramp is not back to same length of clip
Yes, I am getting a problem when trying to paste speed ramp attributes from one clip to another... results in the target clip being shortened to one frame... If you've got Resolve Studio you can submit a bug report at www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/ I'll be doing that as soon as I've finished this post 😇 Or post the issue on the Resolve forums: forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewforum.php?f=21 When you reset a clip's speed, the clip maintains its current duration as expected. HTH
Hello Chris. Can you help me with another issue? I am using ready made text animated templates. I would like to know if it is possible to stop the animate out on the ready made text template? Coz sometimes the ready made text do not stay long enough over a shot, and animated out on their own, too quick. Would appreciate any help on this. In FCPX any ready made text, in the text inspector has a check box to uncheck to animate out, so the text does not animate out ans stays on screen. Thank you.
Hi. Some 3rd party templates have this option, but if you are using the built-in Fusion Titles then you will need to modify the title in the Fusion page to get the specific results you might want. If you're wanting to just disable the opening/closing animations, a quick workaround is to nest the title in a Compound Clip and trim the start/end off. HTH.
How are you adding speed points with the keyboard Or shortcuts? I looked it up you cannot assgin shortcut to "add/remove speed point". Do share how are u doing this? scripts maybe? @3:42 and @07:04. Thanks
Hi! No big secret and no scripting either! When the Retime controls are active on a clip you can add a speed point at the playhead position by pressing Cmd/Ctrl-[ I didn’t mention it explicitly in the video but the shortcuts are mentioned in the description. HTH!!!
Hello. I have a retime question. So when we use the rim tool to ripple the timeline up, it wont ripple all the video tracks at the same time? It will only ripple the next clip in the particular video track? so how can i ripple all the other tracks too? Is there any way?
Hi... This *should* happen automatically. If clips in other tracks aren't rippling then make sure the Auto Track Selectors are enabled for all tracks (that's the square icon to the right of the Lock in the track headers). HTH.
@@Chris.Roberts Thank you very much. this was very helpful. :) i may have many queries, as i am just switching from FCPX to resolve. Will it be ok to ask questions? Thank you.
You can, so long as the audio is linked to a video clip. The speed points won't show up in the audio, but will remain in sync with the video clip so long as the two remain linked. To apply variable speed changes to an audio clip you'll need to use Elastic Wave in the Fairlight page. HTH!
@@Chris.Roberts I tried and the clips are linked. It seems to work only if you select speed change for the entire clip, but when using speed points for variable speed it does not stay linked.
Weird. This is bugging me now... I tried this on the free version for Windows and it seems to work. Check this out and see what's different. Please excuse the ham-fisted use of shortcuts... I'm not used to Windows! ruclips.net/video/1Z4gO5nFI5k/видео.html
