Magnifique.
I’ve never seen videos of them playing together. Thanks for sharing!

2:08 Vladimir smiles in friendly gratitude at the page tuner. In 50 years of classical music watching I have never seen such a thing.
It's rare enough to see a tennis player smiling at a ball boy. Smiling at a page turner, unknown!
The non-smiling nature of most Russians has a justification or rationale. To smile is to show servility; it's wheedling, self-humiliating, abasing oneself like a servant in the hope of some advantage such as a tip. The idea of a higher status person smiling at a stranger (such as at a person who serves you in a shop or in this case, a page turner) is alien to most Russians. It's the same for Commie Chinese, I've heard. In the PRC you demonstrate and underscore your superiority by being as rude as possible to (for example) waiters.
But humans are so wonderfully varied and individual. Vlad Ashkenazy was born in USSR yet by nature he had none of the rudeness, surliness, arrogance, venality and brutality of Communist Russians. He HAD to get out of that horrible country and join the West where people smile and say good morning to the 'lowliest' teenager who serves you a coffee. What a mensch he is.
but then 3:07....
West people "smile and say good morning" but don't mean it, just move their lips and inside their mind is - f...k you all......
