  • Perfect Stealth Docking Alignment.
    In this video we go over the perfect alignment to drop in to a station so we are facing the entrance every time.
    How stealth works for target locks and evading detection.

    To better verify your alignment to the station in supercruise, roll your ship 360°. If the holographic display's orientation stays the same and only rolls with you, you're dead center. But if it wobbles around while you roll, then you need to adjust.

    I've been playing since beta and never realized this is why my alignment was always slightly off... thanks for the tip! o7

    I have 1000+ hours in this damn game and I always thought that being teleported off to the side despite a “head on” view on the hud was some bug or something stupid. Holy shit bro.

    I got into the game to be a smuggler. But there's just no point. It doesn't pay like smuggling should pay and there's really no mechanics around it. The game revolves around piracy, there are gadgets to make that gameplay possible and the flight model is even designed to make it feasible. So why don't we have a scrambler module that mixes up the ships scans? Why don't we have missions to smuggle contraband into stations to undermine opposing factions? As is, smuggling is just an empty way of feeling a bit naughty.

    Figured this all out like a month ago while grinding Federation rank with passengers missions. Author did a pretty good job putting this all together.
    BTW you still can be scanned while in a silent running but it takes more time, or they need to be closer to you. So if you hear Scan Detected - RUN! 🙂

    I wish there was a reason to actually do smuggling in game, its just trading with more steps and less profit margins, once you can fly in a straight line and cool your heatsinks the "challenge" of smuggling is just non existent, likewise piracy is really just not viable in the game either

      Piracy is deffo viable. It doesn't make much money but that's not the point.

    I just got scanned during silent running yesterday. I wish i could find more clear information like exaclty what my heat is and how that translates to the distance ships can target me from.

    I seem to remember, from back in the days of long range smuggling mission being the credit meta, that the entrance to a station is usually faced towards the planet or object its orbiting, a quick tip to help get roughly aligned before making the final adjustments

    How did you request docking that quickly? @5:28

    • @StewiePlaysPC
      @StewiePlaysPC  19 дней назад +1

      The keyboard I use is a gigabyte k8100, it lets me make macros to handle key strokes for docking requests , you can do the same with mouse side buttons on most gaming mice and flight controllers . I have it set to activate as follows.
      1 Q space D space E 1
      with a timing of 60ms for each action .

    I usually get in by timing my release of the heat sink according the flight control speech. Do this correctly and only slight speeding is required.

    Thank you ! 😃
    Your explanation, and demonstration of the technique, is very helpful !
    I can understand now, that the view perspective of the pilot is what is affecting the display.
    So, is this the same for all ships?
    Or do different ships display a variation based on the position of the pilot seat?
    eg a central seat vs an offset seat?

    • @StewiePlaysPC
      @StewiePlaysPC  3 месяца назад +1

      Oddly the offset seat of a Python had almost no change that I could see out side of human error on each drop in.
      I was expecting more of an adjustment needed in testing but ended up putting it down to development staff saving time and work by just copy pasting values and not re adjusting it for the off sett seating.

      The best thing to do is to look at your own ship hologram. It too as aligned to the front of the ship and so you should imagine the optimal angle to be the mirror image of that ship hologram.
      Essentially if it looks like the holograms on both sides of the scanner are pointed to the same point you're aligned

    Great video! I have over 1000 hours in this game and still learned something new from this. Is silent running foolproof? I have been scanned while silent running before, and i have no clue how that was even possible. I couldnt tell if it was a bug or something else that i may have done wrong.

    • @StewiePlaysPC
      @StewiePlaysPC  3 месяца назад

      While silent running / heat sinks drop's the heat out put to 0 , we can still be detected if we fly very close to the target we wish to evade.
      Its the same with Thargoids they can see us from far out , but as soon as we go to 24% heat and under we are free to fly about the Titan as long as we don't get too close to a ship.

      Silent running/being cold makes you hard to resolve on scanners, not impossible. Depending on the sensors of the ship trying to scan you you'll be resolved on their end at about 150-300m, drastically increased if the ship in question is a player with Long Range engineered A rated sensors.

    Have never used Silent Running or been bothered by my thermal signature, I'm just boosting on Beluga inside or outside the station. I still fire Heatsink when see the scan, but it's purely automatic reaction and unnecessary, unless you are super drunk and missed the slot. Master speedy docking/undocking and you won't be bothered by scans.
