Nice Video! My neighbor's brother Frank Slater was on the USS San Francisco CA 38 & was killed on it & the USS Slater DE 766 was named after him. He mentioned how the whole Slater family went to christen this ship.
Recently toured the U.S.S. Slater for a second time, if you haven't been you should, you won't be disappointed. Much respect to all the men who served on this ship. The staff's knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion make it a special experience.

@Blazetralr Thank you for the post. My Father served on the USS 239 Sturtevant during WWII. I plan to go and visit this summer and look over the ship. I would like to have seen the engine room. He served as a diesel mechanic.
Excellent job! You managed to strike the perfect balance between talking fast enough to get as much info as possible across without sounding incoherent. I just wish you'd spent a little time on the Hedgehog. Unintersting to amatures I know. Anyway I tried to plug you guys in my review of the Cannon class, I hope it sends at least a few folks your way. She's a fine example of a whole type of ship that rarely gets their due credit due to their size and the meloncoly nature of their task.
He needs to slow down. It is very difficult for me to keep up with him. Excellent tour though. Thank you who maintain the ship and manage the whole museum experience. As a "member" of the museum I wish I could sometime visit and tour but not likely. Again thank you to all who take care of "our" ship.
i remember when you could have free run of the ship, but as usual, scumbag people ruined it by stealing and damaging stuff....,great piece of history, seeing this ship is recommended! knowledgable tour guides. great experience!
My father was on the USS KYNE DE-744 as a machinist mate. I’ll be coming down to see the Slater this summer. Thanks for the great video.

We enjoyed the guided tour yesterday with our guests who were visiting from New Jersey.
