    Loving this batch of Catchupaloozas, these are probably my favorite. I'm loving hearing about people trying "older" games for the first time. Please keep them coming.

      I also appreciate the "Buy it, bring it, bury it" as its nice to hear everyone's overall thoughts summed up.
      Keep them coming :)

    I'm so happy this series exists because I believe it is essential when Dice Tower does their Top 100. I always thought, 'how would Sam's list be different, if Tom and Zee let him play games with them?" Hahaha~ Love all your hard work. You all rock! I can't wait for the newer members of The Dice Tower to share their Top 100.

    I love this game, I bought it originally due to the Miami Dice episode you guys put out years ago. Still holds up and like everyone said, the tension ratchets up quickly, it’s very easy to learn and quick to play.

    Originally discovered this game (the 1st Edition) through The Dice Tower many years ago! I've been fascinated with it ever since. The 2nd Edition is even better, with support for a 6th player and some minor updates and additions. It seems like it may be out of print again and prices on the second-hand market are climbing. For anyone that likes that Citadels-esque character selection with a bit of area control going on, it's a wonderful time. I'm very proud to own it and it's the kind of game I will never turn down an opportunity to play or teach. Cheers!

    I tell new players that they will be very lucky to pull the travel agent off on the first turn.

    I say “bring it”. I had both editions, but fell into the same sequence of characters whether it won or not. I can be happy with that fun in a city builder like Vegas Showdown, but not in a take that area control.

    Sounds a little like Imhotep in terms of putting people on ships and ships can hold different numbers of people. I like Imhotep and Citadels, so I think I might like this.

      @Webhead123 2 года назад

      @@KrastyoKrastev I never thought about that but you're right. It does feel a tad like Imhotep in terms of trying to get your pieces on the ships you want before they fill up or leave without you. So yeah, if you like both those games, chances are good you'd like this one.

    Did Roy not notice how similar this game is to El Grande? Same exact round structure and it's area majority. I'm surprised he didn't mention anything about that.

    I like this game alot but I have a subject adjencent comment:
    In recent videos Ive noticed the DT hesistating and flopping betwixt terminologies "area control" & "area majority."
    Control is controlling by whatever means the game directive states via puchasing, conquering, 'first to', etc.
    "Majority' is a just another type of control where more than one player or player-like element could legally share an area.
    So i believe "Area Control" is always a suitable term.

      We just went through the list of Catchupalooza games and picked ones that seemed like they would play live very well. They happened to be a bunch of games Zee had already played because the man has solid taste.

    My question will be how this compares to the new Libertalia🤨. Libertalia has more variability of the cards like Citadels but I love the area control of MRP

    • @Webhead123
      @Webhead123 2 года назад +3

      I've gone back and forth on which one I like better but, currently, MRP takes the honor. I do like the insane variety of Libertalia's dozens of characters...but I find MRP's area control and secret missions overall more satisfying than Libertalia's set collection and nighttime bonuses elements. Still, both are excellent games...I just personally think, if invited to play both, I'd side with MRP.

    Instead of explaining the buy it/bring it/bury it explanation each time you do a Catchapalooza video, how about there be a little tooltip that appears on screen as soon as the question is asked?

    • @DTChrisYi
      @DTChrisYi 2 года назад +1

      Worth considering. Though, the biggest holdup I can think of is that we do the audio version of these shows on the DTV Audio Podcast, so explaining it briefly is really helpful there.

    Thank you for this, I cannot stand the Steam Punk theme which is why I have always avoided this. At least now I would consider playing it but I cannot get over the theme enough to put money down. In Roy's defense this is not typical Sci-Fi but Steampunk Science Fantasy which are not the same thing. Steampunk idiolizes obsolete victorian era technology and is not futuristic.
