You opened my eyes to a lot of details I missed in the track. I agree with your review!
This is the least viewed video that I have ever seen that someone with over 1 mil subs has commented on.
@@jbyker5851 Rabid here. Fun fact, I got doodlechaos into Line Rider in the first place :) We still collaborate on line rider projects sometimes.
@@LineRiderReview that's impressive
As a casual viewer I had NO idea so much went into Omniverse 2! Thanks for the video!
What a great video, I really like your enthusiasm. I really love line rider as a art form so it's great to hear the perspective of someone who knows much more than I do. You did a great job of helping me get why this track is so special. Thanks! I hope you do more if these
Thank you! We will definitely be doing more, a second one is already on the way! :)
I remember watching this video 2-3 years ago. I still haven't forgot how well this video is scripted and how you picked apart this track, just showing how memorable this game and its enjoyers can be
Man I had not thought about Omniverse II enough until this video, it's awesome! It's tough to see a path forward for this 'type' of track, because it was intensely meta in its storytelling. Similar to Post-Modern art, are we going to just get really abstract in our tracks? I personally would rather paint a dance than a landscape or portrait haha (least that's how I view it).
Great video! Despite our differing views, I always enjoy watching your reviews of LR.
(edit: posted comment on wrong account lol)
Glad you liked the video! I don't think there needs to be a "path forward for this type of track" - this track did a lot of unique things that there wouldn't be a need to duplicate or build upon. I think it's common to think of Line Rider tracks as attempts at perfecting a style or genre, but I don't think that's a necessary lens. Though it's certainly a valid one!
@@LineRiderReview I was just looking at parallels between contemporary painting/art in general and Line Rider. There are commonalities between the progression of the creative outputs, and we tend to talk about LR in terms of era's haha
With any great art comes a lot of talk about it. For example, there are endless upon endless dissertations, papers, reproductions, analyses, etc. about the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare. As a play, Hamlet would last about 3-4 hours, whereas going through all of the content made about Hamlet would take... a decade? two? more?
All to say that a 20 minute video about a 4 minute masterpiece is actually pretty short all things considered. Omniverse II is an age-defining Line Rider track, and will probably be taken as an example of what can be accomplished in Line Rider for years to come. If anything, the video is too short. Excellent analysis!
Really enjoyed this one 😁
Soooooooooo, Omniverse: Alyx when?
no
@@conundrumer 😀6 hours ago? EXACTLY 6 hours ago I saw a DoodleChaos track and I remembered about Line Rider, so I'm sort of binge-watching stuff.
I had never heard about Omniverse until half an hour ago. Man, you're both crazy and awesome.
Heat death of the universe
This was super fun to watch - I loved the track, but also your essay!
It is really interesting to think about what Omniverse II would have looked like in like 2010, if he had just used Beta 2. I could see most of the scenery being very similar considering how creative people were already getting with scenery before Omniverse II beta was even released, although simplified to some extent do to how much slowdown happened from scenery lines in flash. What would have looked very different is the ending for sure. From the techniques available at the time, I can only guess is that he would have had to do something similar to the movement produced in the final product but with a very fast flat sled section since the high powered quirk techniques would have been very crude at the time. The animation at the end would have probably been able to be made, but in a much simpler way using flat 2D shapes to keep the amount drawing to a realistic amount. The recording would have been pretty time consuming as well since it would have had to been recorded in splits at 1 or 2 frames a second then edited together. It's nothing couldn't have been achieved at the time, but the improvements in the tools, technical skill, and understanding of how story telling in Line Rider works all came together in a fusion of old and new to create a track that nobody would have predicted in 2008.
👍🖖😎nifty art good finale end
so good!!!
