Fixed my gfs rouge thanks to this video. The connector was still locked in but removing it and putting it back in fixed the problem.

There is an on/off button on the drivers/window side, last one on the first row. Make sure that button is on the "on" position before checking fuses or ripping apart the car. My husband reminded me. I remembered my knee hitting those buttons awhile ago and must have turned it off. I've been using the remote to open the hatch up until now as well as the button by steering wheel. I pushed the on back on and wah la! It works again. No need for new part.

Wow✨ Thanks sooo much for the comment @Margi Nagy …I couldn’t figure out WHYYY the hatch would go up by remote but not down, until your comment !! I had no idea that I hit the Power Door switch to the off position. This saved me so much time & trouble!!🤩

Thanks for the insight regarding removing the panels. Needed to do this on my 2019 Rogue in order to replace the power liftgate motor cylinders. Also had to partially remove both of the upper panels in order to get at the power connector for disconnect of the old cylinders and connect the new cylinders.

I just wanted to say thank you. My rear hatchback stopped working and I had no idea why. So to RUclips I went. I saw your video, and as a baker by trade was very intimidated by the process of getting the panel taken off. I did nothing about my rear hatchback for 2 months because of my apprehension and nerves of just making things worse. I broke this morning and decided that I was going to fix it, rewatched your video and had it fixed in under 20 minutes. Along with being put back together. Very simple process. All I did was unplug and plug those two plugs in and out or I guess out and then in. Walked around the back of the car hit the button and WAMO! I thank you very much

So helpful. You saved me hundreds of dollars with video. I didn’t have a socket wrench so removing the bolts on the panel was a bit harder but still managed with a normal wrench and a butter knife!

Thanks for posting this! Today I was driving home and kept seeing a red line underneath the picture of my vehicle on the dash. Couldn't figure it out as I heard a strange rattle. Turns out my hatch wasn't locked. Buttons no longer operated the power lift and for the life of me I couldn't get the darn thing to lock. Can't drive around with an unlocked liftgate!
Used your method and now it opens, immediately closes, and latches. I'll take it until I can get to a mechanic.

The hatch on my 2016 rogue stopped working 6 months ago. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the connector but warranty ran out and that there was no fix except putting a new door on. That's ridiculous!!! And I told them not an option. They gave me bs and said they would try playing around with it. Probably did the same thing you did in the video. It worked for a month then crapped out again. I will try this on the weekend and if it works will have some words for Nissan dealership. Thanks for your video.

Worked like a charm, my man! Ours stopped working after going through an auto car wash and one of the flaps that cleans your car hit the switch on the outside and started opening the lift gate mid-wash. It stopped, but I guess it overloaded one of the those switches. We did what you said and it started working again. Much appreciated!!!!

Thanks for posting this. I had to spend $1k to repair the lift gate last year just two weeks past my warranty. Nissan would not cover the repair due to my vin number. Now, one year later, the lift gate is not working again (completely dead at all optional controls). I'm hoping this is the reason what's wrong and I'm not having to spend another $1k to fix this again. It's very hard to own an SUV that you can not access the back cargo area.

Taking the panel off was very easy, I did not take mine all the way out. I left it attached near the back seat. I disconnected the plugs and reconnected them and it did not change anything. Do you happen to know where the fuse is located for this? I will probably put a new module in (if its not too expensive) and see if that fixes the problem.

I have a 2016 Murano...stopped working about 2 weeks ago. It would not beep or function with the key Fob or the inside button on the dash. Checked glove box and that was still enabled. I unhooked the battery and that got it working but only for 3 days then crapped out again. I unhooked the battery again and it lasted only x1 day. This problem definitely doesn't seem to be a mechanical issue otherwise I'd think resetting the battery would work permanently. I am reluctant to spend $1000 to have the dealer start replacing hardware on the car. I may try this to see if it helps

    • @chozen7777777

Take a screwdriver (flat). You have three lines on lower inside lift gate. The top line has an opening. Insert your screwdriver all the way to the left side of that opening and pull it to the right. There is a release in there. Keep strong hands because it takes a little grease.

From what I've noticed, this is a pretty common Nissan SUV problem. I know that the two are similar but in my personal experience it never beeped. It sounds like yours may be a locking mechanism issue, after the beep can you hear the motor noise? Like it's trying to open but never actually does?

This procedure did not work for me. In fact it made it worse. The power tail gate wasn't working properly, but at least it was working in manual mode. Now it doesn't even work in manual mode. The latch actuator isn't doing anything now and the tail gate won't close all the way. The connectors weren't loose at all, and there was no debris or corrosion to clean on them.

This works for me.. but i keep having to do it. I have noticed as strange as it sounds, it only " fails" when I use it first thing in the morning. If I drive it first it works just fine. My side panel in the back is all busted up inside from having to access this stupid thing all the time. If I have to use it first thing in the morning i push the button to open it right as it goes to latch and close it again five or six times till I think it might work right. See it only does this when it closes. The scan tool say closer condition and the only way and I do mean only way to clear that code is to unplug this thing and then clear out the BCM code that will happen because you unplugged it. If you dont clear the BCM code the door will fail more often. Im at 8 months of playing with the door on my 2017 Rogue. If anyone has anymore ideas.. please tell me.

I think there's a moisture problem that a cheaply manufactured connector can't handle. Ours keeps recurring after rain. I'm going to try to seal it - someone in this comment thread mentions 'silastic', i'm gonna see if there's a permatex product.
