Very cold here in Australia at the moment. Camerons Kick is a go to and one of my favourite cocktails any time of year. Thank you for introducing me to the Flannel Shirt, now on the Winter list.
I just purchased the Charanda yesterday and love it! Right away you get that Jamaican funk similar to Doctor Bird, Smith & Cross and most Hamilton rums. In the Oxacan Dead you definitely get the mezcal but you also get the Charanda!
I tried the Flannel Shirt with Highland Park 12 as per the original spec, and while very good, I wanted to try it with more smoke, something that evoked fall smells of burning leaves, fires in the hearth, etc. Switching to Johnny Walker Double Black was very nice without breaking the bank. But a wee float of Ardbeg 10 might do the trick too.
The Flannel Shirt and Cameron's kick sound delicilious. The problem with the cameron's kick for my bar is that I can't find affordable Irish Pot Still Whiskey though. Is the power's blended but completely made with pot still or is it a single pot still? Much love, Leandro and hope you and your family had a fantastic thanksgiving.
Hi, first of all, thank you for showing us all these lovely recipes. Could you clarify for me the Flannel Shirt and the Apple cider? Is that a non-alcoholic or alc type of cider? The only stuff sold here is the alcoholic sparkly apple cider (like Somersby). The one you've used looks like a homemade non-alc kind of cider. :) I would like to make Flannel Shirt at home, but I'm unsure how to proceed. :)
The recipe changed for the Oaxacan dead with the omission of Tapatio 110 and upped the charanda to a 1/2 oz. I don't think you addressed this, but i take it you felt like the agave spirits were overpowering the charanda? For context I finally got my hands on a bottke and am working my way through charanda recipes lol
Jow Leandro, me again... the one who often finds some kind of improvement. The camerons kick is not in the descprition and I have to mention this, because this might be one of my favorit cocktails ever! I still have to make that Flannel Shirt
The Oaxacan Dead as a Rum & Mezcal zombie-riff was on the opening menu of Fairweather in San Diego in 2014 as one of their original recipes. 🤔 Bryan was in San Diego for sometime before moving to LA… perhaps it was borrowed. Gotta give credit where credit is due.
For the Cameron’s Cup pretty sure that it was the orgeat I used, but when I made it, we only tasted lemon. The orgeat I bought at Total Wine was separated, so the bottom was clear and all the particulate was at the top. I shook it, but it was still not as thick and syrupy as the syrup Leandro used in the video. I have to say though, for 2 oz of whiskey, and 1.5 oz of citrus and syrup, you sure don’t taste much of the spirits.
I can’t get my Mojito right but I managed to get my gin and tonic so perfect. Even people who never enjoyed cocktails saying that if all cocktails would be as great as mine they would drink them always 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Is apple cider in the flannel shirt non alcoholic? In the UK I would understand apple cider to mean a “hard” cider. Not sure what the UK equivalent of a non-alcoholic apple cider would be - a cloudy apple juice? (As you say in the video)
Question for you, if you don't mind. I've been building a home bar over the last 2 years. Haven't bought an Amaro yet -- a bit overwhelmed by the choices. In buying a first Amaro, is there one that offers more range of cocktail suitabilities than others?
If your going to buy one that is most used in cocktails I’d go with Cynar or Fernet. If you want something that’s easier on the palate amaro Nonino, amaro Montenegro or amaro ciociaro are your friends. If you want something a bit challenging and delicious Braulio!

Flannel Shirt is a great fall drink name. Looks like a great drink too!

love winter because it means it's time to go snowboarding! best portable cocktails to bring to the mountain and drink later?
The Urupan Charanda is really good. And it comes (in CO) in a liter bottle, so it is super reasonable, AND 92 proof! Makes a really cool daiquiri.
lived in beford, ma for 2 years as a kid. loved the winters out there. but it was very cold.
El Diablo is probably my favorite cocktail at the moment. Though I generally enjoy all Ginger Beer cocktails.
Whoa, that spoon pour method is a game changer.

They all look good. Not sure which one to choose. Maybe the Cassis.
Love the El Diablo, great choice on El Tesoro Tequila Reposado!!! 👍😋👏
As a fellow LA person, winter is my favorite season here, and it was my least favorite season as well when I lived in Boston.
Ditto!

My neighbour and I are obsessed with the El Diablo! A spicy ginger beer works really well with it. Such a great, simple drink!
Thanks for these! Flannel Shirt is quite tasty!
That flannel shirt cocktail is incredible! Thank you for all the awesome content!
Great job on cocktail choices. I really enjoyed this episode!
All right! You finally made the flannel shirt! Very good drink
These all look really good Leandro, The Camerons Kick for sure. I know I will have to make the flannel too.
Well, I guess I’ll be trying on a Flannel Shirt this evening!
Don’t drink too many or the Flannel Shirts start coming off
Great video as usual. Love me some Morgenthaler drinks
For the Oaxacan dead, could you batch the tequila and mezcal?
What can you substitute for the Charanda? Blend of Jamaican and Agricole?

"Boston gets inhumanly cold." Laughs in Canadian.
i wish boston was colder than where i live lol
Can anything be used instead of Charanda?

Hey can you please link to your bitters bottle! Thanks!
Awesome video, I normally don't watch videos over 10 min but the pacing was great. Can't wait to try a few of these recipes, thanks!

Let’s take care of our kidneys and liver as well, recently my bar manager died at 39 from cirrosis. Everything in moderation guys.

Los Angeles' air quality must turn people into Oaxacan Dead....
This is dumb lol. You’d have to batch this for any kind of bar. Idc how fast you are.

Yeah they’re quite different
