Thanks! Actually a LOT of clients say that Iceland is better than NZ! I'm sure I will make it there someday. Dude... Salmonfly is a gourmet delicacy compared to shark!
How was the whale meat? I was in Iceland a few years ago and ate Minke whale meat that was marinated and grilled. Very rich and tasty. When in Rome......
Just did a day with these guys. Impossible to truly capture the experience on film, or really put words to it. Fished a couple of those same spots. Worth every bit of time and money.
Nice video. I was in Iceland a few years ago and consider it one of the last unspoiled gems on the planet. Its kinda like the "outer limits" of fly fishing.
No doubt! Incredible over there. I was fishing this 50mile river and I was the ONLY person fishing it! Even fished water that no one has ever fished before! Incredible experience!
The shark is something you will start to like the more you eat of it, kind of like blue cheese, I love it. And I think good news as well as iceland is open now if you have your covid shots
Ok, I love food. I can freely say, I will never love that 😉 Oh, I am well aware. I have been keeping a very close eye on all that. I will be there in June! Luckily I am already fully vaccinated.
It's been awhile since I have tuned into your social media as I was taking a course in Costa Rica, but this is awesome! Looks like you had a blast! Just finished doing some Brookie hunting in the mountains of Colorado! Tight lines, Ken!
Nice video, I have a permit for Kaldakvisl this July. How’s that road access on the north side. See there’s a few stream crossing. Don’t mind a few stream crossing here and there. Any of them sketchy or they doable with most 4x4s?
Haha. Thank you very much for the kind words and support. Well... I’m actually supposed to be there for 2 weeks in June but unfortunately it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.
Are you going with a guide? Which guide service? Most guide services especially Fish Partner will have exactly what you need. If you're really wanting to take some stuff from home or tie some of your own that will be VERY easy. They only have 2 flies! Caddis and Midges. Mostly Midges. I would take some Elk Hair Caddis or one of my favorite patterns the EZ Caddis s16. Take some midges. Griffiths Gnat from 16-20 and some Zebra Midges. I would also take some Pheasant Tail s16-14. For streamer... Keep them small like Black Ghost.
Hey Ken, what were you guys catching the char on, nymphs? If so, what's your setup and fly choice for fish like that? Thanks man, always love the videos.
At the time we were using Pheasant Tails. I was using a size 12 and 14. I was using a double nymph rig at times and was also using a single nymph rig as well. Thanks for the kind words and support.
Haha... The Whale is incredible. We also eat Whale in Japan so it was nothing new. Whale is delicious! Did not try the Puffin. I would of but it wasn't around.
Of course! That first Brown caught was on a streamer. I mentioned it on the video. I have another video coming out where I caught some on a streamer as well.
Hmmm... really? They work fine for me. Where are you located?... you saying cheers makes me think outside the US? Maybe that's the reason, although they should work.
I go through the best outfitter in Iceland. Fish Partner. For future reference all that sort of information is in the description box below the video. www.fishpartner.com/
Yeah, I thought you were here in the US based on your RUclips vids. You know there is a travel ban to Iceland right now? Matter of fact I had to cancel my trip in June because of it.
That is correct. Everything is private. They do have a license for $50 per year for around 50 public streams. Although they aren't anywhere close to as good as the private ones. Iceland is an incredible fishery because of this. I fished on a stream that was 50 miles and I was the only person on the stream! Even got to fish water that no one has EVER fished before.
You should try Instagram! Best social app for fly fishing for sure! You can just follow fly fishing companies and fly fishing guides or pros and see nothing but fish porn! No BS like the other social platforms.
Great video. Iceland was loction to be in... BEATUIFUL fish and great Landscape. Message me the next time . You make it up my way. We can Run the Little J or Spring Creek together. Killer video. Bud. Killer
Wish4Fish Thanks, you should go to British Columbia! There are tons of different fish such as coastal cutthroat, wild rainbow, bulltrout, dollyvarden, pikeminnow and many other beautiful fish here!
Best video yet, felt like I was there.
New Zealand some day?
Come on, the shark couldn't be as bad as those Salmon flies?
Thanks! Actually a LOT of clients say that Iceland is better than NZ! I'm sure I will make it there someday.

Wich month you been there ❤
This was late June. Although, I have seen fishing peak in April as well! All depends on the winter weather. The peak might come early or late.
this was a great vid. have you ever thought about going to the UP of Michigan to fish for trout/salmon.
Thanks Daven.
It's on the list for sure. Although so are many places. Not so much for the Salmon but for the BIG Browns!
Did you do any streamer fishing?
Of course! That first Brown caught was on a streamer. I mentioned it on the video. I have another video coming out where I caught some on a streamer as well.

I am going to start hosting trip there next year so I will let you know what the packages cost soon!
Wish4Fish I'll see you then and there in that case!

Woah, the guy at 6:12 totally looks like Robert Pattinson in the lost city of z
Public water or private? I've heard and maybe incorrectly that most of the good freshwater fishing in Iceland is on private water.
