Beautiful project and execution! Interesting that this is pretty much what I did imagine to my home when I was a kid +35 years ago. My project is still in progress, but the path is the funny, not necessarily the end result. Today's technology turn this easier if you have some money and time. Your project is amazing. I know that's lot of equipment that costs some decent money but that's none with 'just' money that can execute a project like this. This is for serious hobbyists like you. Congrats for the accomplishment!!
I'm happy to see you have Crown amps (especially the CTS 600's) in your rack. I worked at Crown and had a hand in assembling, testing, and packing many amplifiers. I had my hands in / on many CTS 600's, 1200's, 2000's, 3000's and so many other models I've lost count. Chances are pretty good you might have an amp I had a part in manufacturing personally. I am one that had a lot of pride working there, it wasn't just about another paycheck. It was a labor of love. I hope you enjoy your amps!
If you wanted to reduce noise and interference between each component, you can run a filter to each of your power sockets and externally Earth each component. Russ Andrews does some awesome cabling.
Very impressive my friend, amazing job. I had started a similar project at my previous home but ended up selling before completion (just prior to installing stadium seating). Really impressed and can appreciate how much effort went into engineering the system.....wow! One lesson I learned from my installation was to reduce the number of wire ties when dressing up cables....I used wire loom for the cable bundles and wire tied the sections of wire loom together which drastically reduced the number of ties needed. It made it so much easier to add, remove or replace cables. Again, amazing job...I'm extremely envious!
I'm rarely wowed by gear anymore, but I had to pause and walk up to the screen to check out your amazing cable routing. Thanks for making me feel like a lazy bum! Nice room too!

When I started watching this video and your incredible setup and expensive equipment I thought you were going to close out the video with some 4k JVC or Sony projector $15k plus. I was very surprised your projector is easily a 7 year old projector and still looks that good. That goes to show you that expensive 4k projectors are great but so are 1080P and sound sometimes is 60% of the movie experience. As a lot of people have commented here already, your attention to detail when it comes to managing those cables is impressive.
Very Nice Set Up. Im just Beginning my own diy home theatre. Question?? does anybody know what they call these stereo/computer rack systems? Please let me know. I tried to google but dont no what they actually call them or where to buy.
Nice wire management. You should think about zero height wire management bars for horizontal each unit. And rings for both sides for the vertical that would look fantastic. check CPI or Panduit
Tottaly different to my home cinema which isn't pernement since the same room is used for a pool/snooker table half the time. When I want the cinema on I have to setup the screen, put the table away and bring in an extra sofa. The sound is all done with proffesional PA speakers and amps that you would normally find at a small concert or DJ event. I have 6x HK RS082 tops, 8inch, 250w for the frount, side and rear fills, 1x HKRS112 for the centre speaker, 1x HK RS115sub which I recently just added a new cone/driver too and will easily hit 20hz at 85db and that is complemented by a ButtKicker audio transducer attached to one of the sofas. The amps, like yours are all in a rack with a DBX system controller. What is unlike your setup is the lack of networking, wireless devices or a media switcher. Instead it is all run of a single iMac which is above the amps and I then have a BlueTooth keyboard and mouse in the cinema (I can use the keyboard to adjust vollume and eject a disk) and then a USB 3.0 blueray drive the sits above the centre speaker. All in all its a great setup and the speakers then can be removed for work eleswhere when required. The projector however is 10 years old now and certainly needs upgrading to something that has a higher contrast ratio and 4k as apposed to 1080p which is what it currently can handle.
What I like about this build is that it's clean, crisp, but also seems "doable" (it's a normal sized room, and normal people actually live in normal sized rooms).
Really nice, impressive! Hw EQs are so cool. I don't get why not more people use them. Was there any particular reason u went with HK for your receiver? Havent seen too many enthusiasts choose that brand. Great setup, thanks for sharing!
I recently got a 5.1.2 system for a small living room and it is really worth it. There is a ton of atmos content out there with blurays and Netflix, but the dolby surround upmixing works really well. I wish I had a home theater like you, and I would definitely upgrade to at least 7.2.4
you can use vantablack or black 2.0 to paint the ceiling around your projector to perfectly hide it so you can watch movies without noticing it because it doesn't reflect light. but it kinda expensive so don't tell your wive that i told you about it.
Awesome! I love these videos. Great HT setup you've got there. I've been contemplating going with the ultimax 18 and a crown XLS. No atmos though because the house is a rental with a normal (crappy for acoustics BTW) tiny living room.
A few years ago you could still say there wasn't enough 4k, atmos, dts:x content, but now that's not true. You can buy 4k blu-rays to all modern movies and most of them have atmos or dts:x. The only place that really lacks 4k is TV programs.
Agreed! I'm not sure if he was just saying that cause he truly ignorant to the fact or it's easier to say cause he's already spent so much on the setup. Either way 4k is a must in 2019.
Hi, how do you do maintenance and the kind of maintenance that undergoes on the rack (back)? By the way your setup is very impressive particularly the cabling works. Cheers!
@@Trialnerror I mean the rack (backside) gets accumulated with dust overtime etc. Just like the server cabinets from data center. How do you maintain them and keep em clean in pristine condition?
This is an amazing set up! But I started getting intimidated once you started showing the rack of electrical equipment!!! I think most of that went over my head. Surely you must come from an electronical background!!l Very impressive sir!!
19:00 why didn't you just use a bipoles for your side surrounds? Also when your looking to upgrade to 4k check out the Optoma UHD50 it's a freaking steal at $899 .
Yes I agree with you sir!! I have so far got one DTX movie, Jason Bourne and Roger Waters The Wall in Dolby Atmos and eighteen other Dolby atmos movies and also seasons 5 and 6 The game of thrones in Dolby Atmos. All the above sound fantastic!!!
Trial n' Error you have to pay for the ultra Netflix subscription. It's $15.99 and there's a good amount there. But the best Atmos will be in 4k blu ray.
I just bought me the sony master series z9g 98 is a little pricey but you can take it outside by the pool and still the image look perfect. I’ll recommend to you.
I do the same thing. Except I use a Optima GT-750 projector. It only does 720p native but is able to do FULL 3D and I run all my media through a Sony Playststion 3 (which plays 3D BluRays + is also my DISH Joey) and for sound I use a Older Samsung 5.1 Home Theater System with wireless Rear Speakers and Fiber to the Sony PS3.
I got my PS3 for Free. I got my Optima GT-750 for Free. Only thing I paid for was my Samsung System (Which has Kelp Speakers & a Microphone to balance sound levels) and I paid $229 for that plus what ever my fiber cable cost. Like $300ish for all. My screen is a hand drawn size from where my projector was located. Killz Ultra White paint for the screen.
I think I subscribed to this channel faster than any other. 28 outdoor speakers is my kind of channel. Great property you have there! Keep up the cool content.
As an aside, it's just before 11:30PM here, I'm drinking some Japanese whisky and writing some code for work (automation makes everyone's life easier) and just wanted to take a break to say: Subscribed!
Something don't jive with me when I pause at 8:20 Why are you using the speaker out puts on the Harman Kardon for signal ? I have a Harman Kardon avr740 it has rca out puts for all channels I'm pretty sure your Harman Kardon does too ! Are you using a high low converter ? And if so why ?
That’s a great HT setup. But I have to really disagree with you on 4K content. Just about all movies are released in Dolby Atmos or DTSX sound tracks. And in UHD4K. You think your system sounds great now, just wait till you upgrade to a 7.1.4 Atmos. Talk about night and day!! Yes it’s more $$$$ but compared to what you have already invested it’s a small amount to have the best available. But as always, it’s just my opinion.
Trial n' Error The first and best way to get it is a 4K HDR Blu-ray Player. Physical UHD4K disc will give you the best sound and picture. Since you have a projector you would also have to upgrade to a native 4K projector to play the content in your HT.Or you can go with the projectors that use pixel shifting to play 4K disc. Epson and JVC make great models that use this format. And of course with a 4K player you can always play them on your 4K tv. I myself am using a Epson Pro 4050 and a 140” 2.35:1 Cinema scope screen. With a 7.2.4 Atmos setup. It is not nearly as well put together as yours, but it looks and sounds awesome. And don’t forget you have to have either a AVR with Atmos and DTSX or a Pre/Pro with Atmos and DTSX.You can stream and get a good picture and sound but it doesn’t compare to the actual disc. The best I have seen is Vudu. But they’re are other media players that support it also
Beautiful setup, man. I have some nice gear too, but unfortunately I don’t have such a nice dedicated space like this. Live in an apartment. Fortunately for me I live alone, so no wife, girlfriend to nag me or tell me WTF I can, cannot do, so I turned my living room into a kinda mini theater/ media room. It’s pretty nice for what it is, but nothing beats having a space like this.
Aleks Barbour yes and since the HP filter is going to bring the eq down at 60Hz instead of 25, get rid of the crossover and plug the sub directly in to its dedicated preamp port on back of the eq.
I have one (assume you mean the avc-x8500h). Went back to my marantz sr9600 within days. Horribly weak amplifiers in the avc-x8500h for the price, no match for the sr9600.
This is impressive but it just comes down to how much money you are willing to spend. I have 2 Marantz tower speakers from the 80's, a Yamaha RX-V1050 receiver, a (shitty) Vizio TV and we stream content from an older Mac Mini. I dare anyone to come over and tell me its not a good movie experience
Love the set up. I'm in the middle of building mine. It will feature an Epson LS10000 laser projector and Monitor Audio in wall speakers. My question is, I would love to hide the subwoofers behind a stage like you have but have been advised by numerous "experts" not to do this. I'll be using 2 AVS ported subs (PB1000) so I'm confused if I should box them in or not? Any thoughts?
Hope you find a good amp to replace yours with...I am fixated on Storm Audio and Auro 3-D that uses PCM to do their magic so content is not an issue. Why are you replacing your sub? That wiring is NEXT level man...mad props!!!
@@Trialnerror I hear ya! And totally understand, but in my line of work, nothing is absolutely permanent. I have done tons of installs for a nationally known A/V company and in multi million homes; when it comes to upgrading customer's equipment and to replace network cables and others, we spent countless time clipping them off. But great set-up!!! Can't wait to start to build my own man cave soon. You have a new subscriber.
There are some really cool ideas in this video, from the way you run your cables to the projector housing that you built. Your set up is REALLY nice. A bit much for me in some areas, but nonetheless, your system is beautifully set up.
Lots of things are nutty, that is not one of them. First off the closet looks different but also rad when you opened it and there's all these led's filling the space. Good job on all.
Trial N' ERROR, you can try a THX Sound Systems which you can use DVDs or Blu-rays or VHS or Laserdisc. you can record all different THX logos one of these historys.
There’s tons and tons of Atmos available... and every single new release comes with it at least on the 4K. There are some titles that aren’t, but that’s like 10% of all released. And there are plenty on Apple TV 4K too not even out yet on disc. Sooo much. Get at it! It’s totally worth it
Trial n' Error you won’t regret it. If you got everything set up and calibrated correctly, Atmos/DTS:X can really lift any movie. And it’s not just about shooting sound into the overheads, it’s about blending the sound into the room and creating something that is much more immersive than only having ear-height speakers. You really feel like you are inside a bubble of sound with Atmos. Even the sounds at ear-level in height sounds better because the sounds aren’t sendt to individual speakers but are also shared between speakers to place a specific sound more precisely, fx in between two speakers.
nice set up. but i think you have to go to a scope screen with a projector that automatically switches like i have set up its amazing. im using a panasonic ae7000 i got on craigslist and think it’s amazing. on a homemade scope screen.
Trial N' Error ya it is a bit confusing to set up but once it works and your in 16:9 mode and put pop in a wide screen movie and it automatically zooms the projector out and the move get huge it’s so cool.
Hey Sir. Great video .. I have a question. I am actually moving to a hose where there is a Mother in Law room Similar to your size and i building my HT there. My question is When I will need AMPS etc ? I have 7.1.2 set up, for now, I am using a PS$4, Xbox, Bluray DVD.. Will my receiver will be enough? Thats what I have been using with no problem .. So that's why I am asking Thank you
Absolutely love the in wall rack!!! How did you change the cable-inputs(the typical dj cable) to an rca for the Harmon Cardin receiver? The remote setup is Amazing! The Logitech is an amazing remote. Have one. What is the other remote? And can I do a similar setup on an iPad? Looking for a good app.
One of these days, it is a dream of mine to make a full blown minimalistic theater setup so that I can have an excellent experience between gaming and movies. I want either a 7.1 or point 2 or a 9.1 or point 2 surround sound setup with at least a 140 inch or more for the screen display and a 4k projector once 8k becomes the norm because by then, 4k easily become affordable.
How many times must one adjust the focus and keystone of a fixed installation? Everything else is digital, and a single peephole for an IR eye should permit the rest.
You sound like you know audio a lot. I was wondering about the impedance setting on receivers. I have a Yamaha rxv667 that has a setting to switch between 6 and 8 ohms. Should I switch this to 6 ohms if I have 6 ohm speakers? Or do I leave it at 8? The guys on the youtube channel audioholics say to leave it at 8 but, I did and my receiver got very hot after a long listening period.
Also, good thing you kept your old receiver I have an old Yamaha rxv667 that beats even $1200 reeivers of today. It has pre outs for all channels and I was thinking of using crown amps for all channels!!
@@Trialnerror How many years has it taken you to spend that? I know you said some gear you bought around 6 years ago? Does that take into account upgrades you've done to equipment or just your current set up?
Very very impressive set up Sir I have some reservations though about your choice of surround processor and blu-ray. Seriously, Arman Kardon?!?!?!! They haven't produced any descent movie gear in decades. I trust you will be upgrading to a nice Denon, Sony or even Yamaha combo so that you can, finally, extract every bits out of your movie collection.
Yamaha, not my preferred brand, has some of the best receivers on the market at the moment while Sony has a receiver that was voted best in class according to What HiFi.
Impressive collection of equipment and attention to detail*. However, this was an episode of the Flintstones. Without a minimum of 7.2.4 channels of Dolby Atmos and/or DTS:X, your theater room went Jurassic the second you plugged it in. I have a 1/20 scale model theater setup compared to yours so I got a pretty good idea of the work that went into it. Really should have taken the time to go to AMC and see a Digital release of a new movie{ Captain Marvel for instance} to get the proper perspective of visceral SOUND that comes at you in all directions. Your eponymous moniker is spot on. Upgrade that sound processor and install those 4 ceiling speakers! I sure the rest of the guys will put a lil money on your book when the wife has you committed :-}
I love it. I have a 65. 4k 5.1 set up but I have a 110 electric screen that comes down.in front of tv with a epson 1040 1080p as well. Mine works great for me.
Nice set up! FYI, there are tons of contents with Dolby Atmos and DTS: X readily available these days. You can even get Atmos through Netflix and Vudu streaming services.
Seeing that graphc EQ makes me smile, I just ordered a Technical pro EQ from 123DJ but they sent me a Technical pro power conditioner instead, its a nice power conditioner but not what I wanted so I had to ask for a return lable (took me severral repeat calls minutes apart) before they sent me one. lol!
I just went to Harmon Kardon's site and they have gotten out of components altogether!!! It now just headphones and speakers and a home theater 5.1 speaker set!

I feel the same way man. Live in a small apartment too. I get so jealous when I watch guys with these beautiful man caves.
That equipment has to be generating allot of heart...man it looks awesome
n ERROR
LMFAO you lost me at " POWER CONDITIONER " 😅😄😄😆😁😂😂😂😂😁😆😆😆😁😂😄😅😅
Cable management is superb 👍🏾
As an aside, it's just before 11:30PM here, I'm drinking some Japanese whisky and writing some code for work (automation makes everyone's life easier) and just wanted to take a break to say: Subscribed!
Awesome! How much power are you using and how many separate circuits did you use to run this setup?
What kind of chairs/sofas are those? how did you build the stadium seating? I'm trying to do something similar in my basement
@@Trialnerror That makes sense why I saw the speaker wire outputs being used ! Harman Kardon receivers have great sound and high output!
Awesome setup! Thanks much for taking us viewers for a tour.
Use the high pass filter on the EQ instead of rolling off by using the low EQ channels.
Aleks Barbour yes and since the HP filter is going to bring the eq down at 60Hz instead of 25, get rid of the crossover and plug the sub directly in to its dedicated preamp port on back of the eq.
if you ever replace the receiver you should get the Denon AVR-X8500H receiver.
I have one (assume you mean the avc-x8500h). Went back to my marantz sr9600 within days. Horribly weak amplifiers in the avc-x8500h for the price, no match for the sr9600.
I love the look of the ramps in your theater instead of steps, I have lighted steps but I might have to copy you :)
Extremely nice set up. However, all movies blueray/4k now are Atmos you should check out movies released now.
What is the brand of the high gloss black paint used on the trim and the raised stage? Very sleek looking!
@@Trialnerror Thankyou!
Hope you find a good amp to replace yours with...I am fixated on Storm Audio and Auro 3-D that uses PCM to do their magic so content is not an issue.
Why are you replacing your sub?
That wiring is NEXT level man...mad props!!!
You Sir can literally charge admission lol. Tons of good info here, thanks.
Kudos for the beautiful cable management!
Nice set-up! Dump the zip ties, though. Use Velcros instead. Curious about any exhaust system our vent system to cool your nifty set.
Is this a new theater coming near my area?, I want to know the name. Ready for the premier.
The screen seems a bit high for the front row?
If you going for the 4K transition I could really recommend the Epson 4010 for the most bang for buck!
Absolutely luv it. Very nice job, looks neat and tidy as well...
There are some really cool ideas in this video, from the way you run your cables to the projector housing that you built. Your set up is REALLY nice. A bit much for me in some areas, but nonetheless, your system is beautifully set up.
Great job on cable management! Super refreshing.
Got the same projector, best investment ever
Your sound system is just perfect wow! Congrats!
I am rocking the z5500 from logitech 😅
Imagine a safe room like that , you’re almost sad when home raiders leave
I approve!
My wife thinks I'm nuts and I tell her everything costs the sales tax.
Screen looks a little small...
So have you upgraded to Atmos yet? It would be great to see how you choose to integrate it.
No but someday I will! Ceiling speakers will probably be my only option
Nice room! Acoustic panels w frames, did you build or buy?
Thank you! I built them. Wood frame, 1" high density foam and cotton fabric cover.
Even the sounds at ear-level in height sounds better because the sounds aren’t sendt to individual speakers but are also shared between speakers to place a specific sound more precisely, fx in between two speakers.
where did you get that audio track at 22:45?
nice set up. but i think you have to go to a scope screen with a projector that automatically switches like i have set up its amazing. im using a panasonic ae7000 i got on craigslist and think it’s amazing. on a homemade scope screen.
So that's why I am asking Thank you
@@Trialnerror Thank you. so much
hi where do we buy the 'now showing' item... ? thanks in advance
I want either a 7.1 or point 2 or a 9.1 or point 2 surround sound setup with at least a 140 inch or more for the screen display and a 4k projector once 8k becomes the norm because by then, 4k easily become affordable.
nice setup sir! well done. looks and im sure sound amazing.😀
Thank you very much for the kind words and for watching!
Amazing space could you tell me the two wall colors that you have?
Adjust your white balance to compensate for the violet LEDs, ad you’d see.
Awesome HT! You should def add Atmos, as there's more than enough Atmos content. All 4k movies have Atmos lol.
how do you access the projector with the way you have it
How many times must one adjust the focus and keystone of a fixed installation? Everything else is digital, and a single peephole for an IR eye should permit the rest.
Oh man! This is awesome! Great stuff man! Cant wait to do this!
What projector do you have?
How much all this cost? I might’ve missed it in the video
@@Trialnerror How many years has it taken you to spend that? I know you said some gear you bought around 6 years ago? Does that take into account upgrades you've done to equipment or just your current set up?
We need a quick update of this theater.
are movies at the theater Shown in 4k or just 1080p that’s OK at the movies means something different then for tv
Michael Grosz *than
I am speechless.
So I am just gonna say WOW!!!
Impressive collection of equipment and attention to detail*. However, this was an episode of the Flintstones. Without a minimum of 7.2.4 channels of Dolby Atmos and/or DTS:X, your theater room went Jurassic the second you plugged it in. I have a 1/20 scale model theater setup compared to yours so I got a pretty good idea of the work that went into it. Really should have taken the time to go to AMC and see a Digital release of a new movie{ Captain Marvel for instance} to get the proper perspective of visceral SOUND that comes at you in all directions. Your eponymous moniker is spot on. Upgrade that sound processor and install those 4 ceiling speakers! I sure the rest of the guys will put a lil money on your book when the wife has you committed :-}
I love it. I have a 65. 4k 5.1 set up but I have a 110 electric screen that comes down.in front of tv with a epson 1040 1080p as well. Mine works great for me.
Very cool design and execution
your wife thinks you're nuts ?? i'm glad you still have them.
mine... not so much..
i'm giving you my like.
Nice set up! FYI, there are tons of contents with Dolby Atmos and DTS: X readily available these days. You can even get Atmos through Netflix and Vudu streaming services.
Seeing that graphc EQ makes me smile, I just ordered a Technical pro EQ from 123DJ but they sent me a Technical pro power conditioner instead, its a nice power conditioner but not what I wanted so I had to ask for a return lable (took me severral repeat calls minutes apart) before they sent me one. lol!
How do you build a projector box?
I just went to Harmon Kardon's site and they have gotten out of components altogether!!! It now just headphones and speakers and a home theater 5.1 speaker set!
So sad. The market is drying up.
