What the fungtion of make the knot in the center of the rope when you tie it first before make double figure eight?

Hi there, the overhand knot is only there to mark the middle so you definitely get the double figure of eights either side of the middle. It could just as easily be rigged without.

Yeah, no problem with that. The bolts will still be equalised.
