It's pretty surprising, dare I even say shocking, that Toho let this get as far as it did. And I must say, as a trivia buff, I enjoyed the heck out of this episode. All the backstory and info, you have a knack for documentary-esc video.
The cynic in me wants to say “well, that’s just about how i expected this to end up” 😅 But i do applaud their efforts over the years and the fact that they brought it to a conclusion (of sorts) instead of just dropping off the map like so many other fan projects 👏🧐 Thanks for the retrospective and review, Casey 😁
I'm not a lawyer but I'm assuming since you would be using un-licensed copyrighted characters and publishing it on a public platform which itself is monetized even if you aren't it would be. Like imagine pre-youtube, you made a Godzilla short. You didnt make money off of it but you made it for a vhs that is being sold. Pretty clear violation. And since RUclips will just monetized popular videos of unmonetized channels this could very well happen. But I don't think Toho would care or take action. RUclips seems to be this special case for copyright as is anyway. Thanks for watching
@@MINILLA_PRODUCTIONS The thing is youtube itself could monetize the video even if your channel isn't but the main thing is- you're not going to get a lawsuit for some fan stuff that isn't being backed by major funds. Probably they wouldn't care but if they did you'd just get a cease and desist or it'd be through Toho and RUclips/Google and they'd probably just take down the content of their platform. Which I understand could be discouraging but that's the risk you take both with using unlicensed ips and with hosting videos on someone else's (youtube's) service
@@interwebkaiju im the same guy, im just saying this on my other channel but, like, should I take down all my Godzilla content? And that’s like all my videos, so like should I take my channels down.
I recall this from the Fundraiser!
Thanks for watching

Thank you
I saw Godzilla Lotus and when It finished, I was like, ".....was that it?" Where did all that money go?
Oh wow. It's been years since I've heard anybody talk about this.
I was very surprised when I saw the video pop up
It's a shame that it couldn't be done the way it was intended. Great review Casey.
Thank you Jason
Kickstarter getting after it! Nice to hear from people interested in the project! Interesting to hear the back story! Nice video bogzs
This is fascinating! I learned a lot!
Thanks for watching
Imagine if this would have been done now. Speaking of which I can't wait for a -1
Same. I hope it comes out on physically over here soon. Thanks for watching

Seems like they took quite a risk!
thanks for watching Dan
I enjoyed this, Thank You
Thank you Pap!
My question is if it’s illegal to make a Godzilla anitmation on RUclips even if you don’t make money and credit Toho?

@@interwebkaiju but like I don’t make money at all on my channel or anything, not even a single penny or sent, so even then it illegal
I cannot stop worrying about Toho striking down my channel and getting me in a lawsuit for over 2m dollars
