I'm still not quite sure how you manage it, but you always bring a certain comedic excitement to 'the everyday' which makes these videos very pleasant indeed to watch! Two very worthwhile additions to the van, I'd say. 🙂
Here, here!
I think it's his face. 😂😂😂😂😂.
Joking of course.
I too don't know how he does it. But he does.
More power to his elbow.
I agree. 😂
He was a professional reporter for a tv station. He is trained and also talented. I have watched a 45 minute video of David replacing his shower lining on his boat and been truly captivated by his presentation along with his professional level production quality. A youtube gem.
Have I really been entertained hugely by a man being really chuffed with a new bin, flip flop and kitchen roll holder? Why yes I have !!! Top work as per mr John
Hahaha thank you
The gleam of unparalleled joy in your eyes is almost overwhelming :)
Almost alarming, isn't it?
David, "binprovement" just might be the worst pun you've come up with so far.
Well done, m'boy! I'm proud of you!
Thank you
You should have put a 'may contain mild thrills' disclaimer at the beginning. Off to a darkened room now for a little lie down.
Sometimes it truly is the 'little things' that add joy and convenience to daily life.
Its bin a while since you showed us the van.
HAHAHA! Your excitement and exuberance of joy was quite infectious. Made me laugh and got me excited about your purchase of a trash can and a paper towel holder! Ahhh, the simple joys we find in life. Thank you sir!
It's the small things that make the biggest difference. Do like your new bin👌
I certainly do
Practical gifts for your van. Absolutely brilliant. Your enthusiasm rubs off. Truly delightful video. Thank you.
Great video as always! You definitely don't have to explain how small victories and simple things can excite you so. As we mature we learn that it's usually the smallest things that bring the most joy!
I draw house plans for a living, and I'm constantly surprised by how little thought is given to trash cans in the kitchen.
I ask people 'what item do you use the most in the kitchen? and nobody has ever given the right answer. It's the trash can. There is almost no action you can do in the kitchen that doesn't produce something that needs to be thrown away.
It's about the small things that bring the biggest joy. Good finds.
I am sorry but I think that it is brilliant that we get so much joy out of a garbage bin .... excellent...
Omgee you always make me laugh but I have to agree that it is the smallest things in life that make you the happiest
it is amazing how much some of the simplest things--like your trash bin and your towel holder make a world of difference. safe travels to you.
The best type of rubbish bin is one without a lid, place it in the far corner so you can practice throwing things
from a distance. Every time you hit the target it will give so much pleasure as to make upfor the ten others
that will have missed. If your morning tea bag hits the target the psychological boost will indicate a good day ahead.
If not it's all going to be uphill.
I'm excited about your bin as well. That dual lid is a neat job of engineering. Please post bin use updates for us waste receptacle design fans.
I will!
David, after watching some popular RV channels here in the US, it's refreshing to see that you have designed and built a small camper which is usable and unlike the gargantuan, incredibly expensive RVs which are reviewed online. It's often the smallest upgrades which provide the greatest convenience and satisfaction!
You’ve made my night 😂 your future travels now have no bounds x
After 18 months and many uses of my camper, I'm still finding things I want to add or modify which is a good argument for starting very simple and then figuring out what you need as you go.
I fully understand your joy. We have a small popup caravan. Campings are fun but it is full of inconveniences. ANYTHING that improves your enjoyment is a big plus! Even little things.
Don't forget to keep us updated on Mr Bin.
It makes complete sense that you would be so chuffed about the bin. It's the little things that really make you happy in life.
That is the cleverest waste bin, as you call it, that I've ever seen. I want one!
Never be ashamed of getting excited about the mundane. There is always joy to be found in the boring. That dual opening lid. Mind blown...
I have visions of every time you brake the Kitchen Rolls swings forwards reverting to the unravelling Kitchen Roll, The phenomena of the unravelling Kitchen Roll seems to have overruled the Law of Physics and perpetual motion. I squash the role into an oval thus preventing the free flow of tissue to the floor, alternatively a loose rubber band around the roll (one of the preparing to move chores) will also keep the roll intact. The excitement generated by the bin should not be diminished by errant kitchen roll.
Thank you for sharing your unbridled joy with us 😀
Damn. I just went to the supermarket in the van, I should have checked the kitchen roll status on my return.
I love finding cheap fun solutions to lifes little problems aswell David ☺
actually - I was waiting to be underwhelmed but that bin is a clever bit of kit with the double opening lid.
Isn't it?!!
@@Vandemonium one of those things that is inexplicably so satisfying
David. Three vlogs in such a short period. I am in heaven.🙏👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Looking forward to report on caravan show end of February. The bin seems very handy. Easily movable. Great towel holder. I look forward to your videos and your down to earth explanations. Keep 'em coming
I have to say David, you are getting much better at DIY. In the beginning these jobs would have led to at least 3 rants and a meltdown.
Looking good
It’s the little things in life 👍🏻🐶🐶🐱🐱
I’m totally convinced by your bin. Teabag dispatch will be something to look forward to.
Yes!
These vlogs are so educational. Regarding the bin, I have never seen the like! A lid that hinges forward to enable brushing waste stuff straight in from the work surface is just so incredibly useful and simple when you think about it and yet it hasn't been the case for donkey's years. Thank you David and as always, best wishes
A happy life is full of simple pleasures. Good on ya.
Just spent the better part of the week binge watching all your videos. I searched for your channel after a reference was made, I think, from one of your Cruising the Cut videos.
If you find the paper roll unrolls itself, attach one end of a bath plug chain to one of the screws and dangle a length down in front of the roll. Leave enough to have some weight. That’ll add sufficient drag but remain flexible enough not to get in your way. 🙂
Top tip!!
Now I want one of those bins. :) That flip-forward lid is genius!
The simple things can bring happiness. 👍👍
A good bin in a tight space is fantastic, especially given the fact that you’re a tidy person. Best of luck with them all!
So now I don’t feel so bad being proud of the bin in my kitchen that is tucked behind the door of the cupboard under the sink (lid opens as door opens) - I get a warm glow every time I use it - and it has been ten years!! I hope the pleasure you get from your neat solution lasts as long for you. Happy New Year!
Haha that sounds splendid
If you haven't already clipped the screws, you might want to consider placing a small nut on the screws before clipping them. That would give you a more secure hold on the assembly.
I really like your new gadgets, especially the removable bin. Going to look for one for our camper.
Stay safe and warm! Cheers from South Carolina!
As always, the best gifts are those given with care and thoughtfulness for the recipient. I can tell that you know your van well and know exactly what will best please it. 😉😊 Sometimes the little things are just the best.
Oh how I have missed your videos. Thank you for the chuckles on a cold, gloomy Sunday. Congratulations on your campervan windfall of riches, David!
Oh the excitement of it all! Glad to see you've been corrected about kitchen roll orientation. What day are you at the NEC show? Might see you there with autograph book at the ready!
Not sure yet, might go more than one day
The little bin has the neatest lids I’ve ever seen. I'm excited for you. Truly.
David, measure the length needed, and change those wood screws for the same size machine screws, washers and nuts. Saves cutting them off or them pulling out. Thanks for the videos. Jon
Too late!
Happy New Year David. It's nice to know that there are some of us left who are pleased by the simple things in life. Happy travels.
Your new bin is especially brilliant. Thank you so much for link. Love the Queen's English, too. I would have said it was a trash can. Bin sounds so much better.
David, I only recently found this channel and have been loving watching you with your newly fitted out van. Such a delight to hear the joy you have at almost everything little thing you do. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, welcome along 😀
All great ideas David. When hubby and I camped, we had flip-flops if we chose to use public showers. The waste bin was a great idea and you had allot of choices where to put it. You could even use it as a footstool. Hey, travel safe out there and let's all "think Spring". Sandy from US
If you haven't done it already, I just thought of a minor enhancement - you could put a small fluencent light under the new cupboards to provide additional illumination to the cooking area!
Buy those disposable ones that you just stick on and press. They’re as cheap as chips and are great in difficult to wire places
Love the joy of the bin! Thanks for the laughs!
please make sure your flip flops are non slip...always be careful...hooray i love yor bin and hooks my kind of excitement too haha
Oh mom…c’mon. Its too late now. Gee Whiz.
Watch out! It will soon end in glamping!
:-D
Your excitement for the bin and it's holder was priceless, thx a lot for the laughter, loved it!
:-D
What a wonderful person. Your explanation and the sharing of attention to detail and exploration through imagination is just very nice.
I've bin waiting for this one!
You are on a roll
Rubbish!
Totally and absolutely get the new bin and the joy it has brought you 😊👍😉
Ain't life grand!?
I really enjoy spending some time with you, sir.
That waste bin is brilliant. Paper towel holder, as well.
Instead of flip-flops, we use Crocs for the public showers, etc.
The Crocs are much more comfortable and versatile than flip-flops.
They would take up more space in the van, though.
Good Vibrations
It is often the smallest things that bring the most satisfaction! Congratulations on your newest camper additions!
In LA, we chuck our rubbish out the car window. So good on you for being a responsible citizen of the world.
Keep an elastic band handy to put over the roll of paper towels when you are travelling so that it does not unroll itself if you do have an issue.
It's always solving those seemingly small problems that bring the most satisfaction, isn't it?
At a time, to get a toilet paper to avoid unrolling, I glued a little bit of rubber to the wall where the paper rested. That gave is a good amount of friction.
Cheerio!
Excellent David ! I have to say that your “perspective” on joy and contentment is quite inspiring. And here I was in the 🇨🇦 cold thinking that I was alone in believing how wonderful and satisfactory it would be to wire up a second electrical switch to control our storage room lights.
I have it from good authority that a young couple from Milton Keynes had their Christmas holidays ruined because they thought Santa was going to bring them a Bosch washer and dryer pair to go with their newly bought semi duplex.
Apparently they’ll have to wait till mid February. All in the eye of the beholder happiness is.
Cheers 🥂
A second switch! Luxury!
I've Bin considering a joke but when I tested it it was a Flop so I've thrown in the Towel.
🙄🤣
@@Vandemonium and a flipping reply.
Its the little things that make all the difference.
You just made my day, been cleaning my apartment. Thank you for making me laugh. What a glorious day it has been because you brighten my day. Thank you again and be safe.
Getting more like a boatman's cabin all the time. Nice job.
the genuine excitement over such small things... such fun...
I was so looking forward to you8r installing the towel holder backwards.
£10 on flip flops, fancy!
I slum it in my 99p primark ones.
You'll find the paper towels will unravel if you put them on "toilet roll style" with the sheets away from the wall, like you have it should be ok but if it keeps unrolling you may ned to wrap some rubber tape round the bar to add friction. Good luck, oh and love the bin. It's the simple things in life that metter!
That’s why I bought that one, so the roll is not away from the wall!
Secure the roll with a paper clip.
I am just as pleased as you about that bin! I love the way that cover works! And it is so mobile.
Amazing the little things that are the most important
It’s the little things that make the difference! I have that same bin for composting. It’s perfect!
I will say the biggest advantage of having flip-flops( It is hard to believe that terminology is used in both countries-usually the Brits have some unique terns to describe things, Or they seem to sound that way to me😊😊) is that it may prevent the dreaded athletes feet.
I am delighted that the small additions to your campervan have brought you so much pleasure and have added a bit of tidiness to your van.
Curiously an American colleague of mine (from Georgia) calls these "shower shoes", which (until now) I had thought must be the standard US terminology. You live and learn...
Seen all of your videos now, on both Channal at present, thank you for your entertaining a big well done.
Like ya new stuff but the paper towel is on wrong way you may find it easier to use the other way up! your choice of course though..
Indeed 🤣
Been wondering how you've bin. 🙂
There goes a happy man.
Old tip. Slightly squash the the kitchen roll so that the tube is not round to stop unrolling while traveling. I was first told this for toilet rolls
Ahhh but then it’s squished and I don’t think I could handle that 🤣
You may want to purchase a second bin for up front, for those times when you have waste in the cab. You might also purchase a spare hook assembly in case the hook breaks or otherwise goes wrong.
Ha ha, I share your excitement about your new bin. It looks fabulous 😂👏👏👍😀
You can't have incoming if you don't have outgoing. So I understand the need for a bin. :)
It’s “bin” one of those minor annoying things! Fixed! 😁
You are so entertaining and enthusiastic! You make a kitchen roll holder, removeable waste bin and a pair of flip -flops interesting content for a vlog😂
Well David, I'm so happy that your so happy on all your Christmas gifts for yourself & the van. Yourve got to spoil yourself sometimes & you gave me a gift of laughter & I sure needed it.
I can relate to everyone of those gifts you've given yourself, bc I to have had those same problems in my camper. I really like that bid thing & probably could use that in my house.
Great stuff. Have a great day, be safe & God bless,
Chris from Missouri
Top tier title pun
Ta
I'm always very impressed by David's pun skills. They are clearly very well honed. 🙂
How exciting David! Please scuff up the bottoms of your flip-flops. We dont want you slippin going or out of the showers. Why the price differences. :) I love the new bil and paper towel holder as well! Merry Christmas to your campervan!
It's the little things in life.
Ooo, that bin might just be what we are looking for for Silver Fox.
I understand your joy completely!
David, I've got a project suggestion for you. I was thinking of the places where you might stash away the garbage. At first I thought if you had 9 square inches or so of floor space clear underneath, you could install a flush door with a catch drawer under the floor that you'd access from outside. Nothing fancy, you could cut down an old file drawer with angle iron for slide rails. Might be hard to secure against wind at speed though.
Then the camera showed all that unused real estate on the back doors. On the outside of the door, mount a container a few inches taller than your garbage bag with a top lid that secures and something inside to hold the bag. Riveted-in clips perhaps. Cut an access panel through your back door just above bag height for a passthrough. No space lost inside and no stinky garbage inside either. Use the other door for your recyclables.
I’m not cutting holes through the doors, I spent ages putting all the insulation in to keep it warm!
@@Vandemonium My bad, skipped that part. Whatever part you would cut out would be used as the door for the passthrough, insulation and all. Add a bit of gasket round the edges, a length of piano hinge, and one or two of those tension flip latches to seal it. Can't think of the exact name of those latches. It's got a loop that goes over a hook or peg on the other side with a lever to lock it down tight, like you might find on a toolbox.
A rainy day type of project, to be sure, but you never know. One day you might be brainstorming for content and remember that ridiculous garbage can idea you heard once. I think 50% of that video's profits sounds fair, don't you? ;-]
In terms of enthusiasm, probably your best video yet! I was smiling with you all the way through.
It's the little things that make life easier. I could have used that bin back when I was living in my cabover
Loved your new gadgets for the van! So practical!!!
Well done you on your new van accoutrement. Isn't it surprising how such little things can make such big differences. Stay safe and well, Gloria 🐂
I'm excited about your bin too. The two way lid is brilliant.
