Braveheart! long time ago I played a starcraft use map settings called that way, you spawn with an army and you cant replace the units that you loose in battle. English have to kill wallace and scottish have to kill longshanks. Good luck
I know its late but I love to see Battle of Nagashino scenario, which arquebusier or any matchclock unit form three lines behind a stockade behind shallow river firing massed volley fire against enemy cavalry
It amazes me how the same game has players who play the game completely differently and get enjoyment out of it, I think the game is timeless too because we all enjoyed it when we were kids. What a great game
I remember playing with the map editor and how I'd meticulously spend hours prepping the fortifications and my troops for my defenses, then when I finally start playing, the freaking AI sends troops entering my defenses' flank thru a glitch on the map.

Make a canyon with siege onagers on both side of the hills and make em attack ground the road below. See if anything could withstand the barrages of rocks
I have a better suggestion, make a 8 player map, 4 vs 4, build huge forest around you, leave a narrow space to get out, only way to come in and go, have all your team inside the forest, towncenters and villagers inside the forest, have gold mine, stone, bushes, deers everything inside that and seperate trees for them to cut, build walls layering the forest, so the villagers dont go and cut, inner layer by the wall of your team, outer layer by the wall of enemy team. Spawn all the enemy team outside that, build another thin sea layer around the outer layer of the wall, leaving a narrow space for the enemy, have enough army for yourself, limit the population to 100 for all teams, if you want a smooth experience, add 99999 wood, gold, silver to all teams.. watch the battle. Make sure you have goood army, it can get pretty close. I even go far and build houses for all teams, so they can produce more, i surround it by forest and walls, so noboyd can destroy it.

I love when unice teutonic civ bonus for siege really works. I had a few situations like this. About 10 games in 1000 :)
It miss this game so much! I think my mother gave away all my old video games without asking after the main PC in the house died. She said the new owners love them, but she might also been have been taking about the board games that I did not keep which I have feeling she gave away them too. Do they still sell Age Of Empires 2? Maybe after the pandemic is over I can buy it, and maybe some of the Total War games too. Yet my current laptop is for writing my children’s book, and not for gaming.
This is more like a multiplayer map, unless you figure out how to get the AI to be more challenging... Seems very easy About the game play, you should try and avoid friendly fire, and use the movements/battle formations dynamically instead of letting it static... That way the video gets entertaining (you can check some castle blood maps, in case there are pro players still out there those days)

The bridge needs to be wider or have multiple bridges to make up for the horrible AI pathfinding. Not really a battle, just a slaughter
