There are American cities that are also dying and are growing smaller and becoming violently crime ridden and worst, becoming environmentally toxic for the remaining inhabitants to further stay there like Michigan's Chicago and New York City's surrounding communities and the list goes on and on and on.
Living in a dark city is really a challenge. Thank you for showing the world this part of your country, I understand a big part of this country is above the polar circle, I knew it, but it is better to really see it and understand!

You could say that the people in Vorkuta are living decent, albeit hard lives as opposed to surviving, just look at all those kids and people enjoying their time in the city center
I have been living in a town 70° north (Vorkuta is 67° north) and the reason why people want to move is the polar night. I remember the night lasted 3 months and so many people found all that darkness very depressing. I just took a job there for a year, and I'm happy I experienced it. I found it to be beautiful, but many of the locals I met there sounded like they wanted to get away due to the cold and darkness.
Thank you for a very informative (but much more to learn) tour of Vorkuta. I especially appreciate the respect you possess for clothing styles, foods, people who are different from you. It is extremely unpleasant to watch reports on places that reporters degrade. Local citizens of Vorkuta taught me much in their words. These are strong and seemingly compassionate residents of a rather beautiful place.
I remember a pedestrian bridge with "max 1 person" sign in France - not very relaxing... With this kind of adventure, I would be very careful. It could be the last mistake to try it.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this video ! My boyfriend kept saying "yeah, I wanna go there", only wishing travel to Russia was available. Maybe one day we could :) Also, your editing skills are insane, and I loved your little apocalyptic homage
The one thing that i have come to understand in the last few years is that people are incredible…I don’t care what country you’re from, I don’t care what religious beliefs you may hold, I do care however that we must be respectful, responsible and not to be judgmental when seeing other countries behaviours. That is the work of politicians and not the people themselves…
The polititians are somehow a mirror of their people. It is easy, but apolitical to just blame "the polititians" for all the evil ignoring that we are political animals ourselves. Without ordinary people polititians cannot do anything. That does not mean that I agree in every aspect with political leaders and want take all their responsibility. They have duties, but their failing is also partly failing of their societies.
Interesting place. I like to visit places like that. You appreciate the small things in life more. I have a sport house above the arctic circle where it can get below -50 Celsius. Also very peaceful place with friendly people.

WHEN YOU ONLY NEEDED Vitamin D or Iron This iscso prevalent.. Understand Doctors are ALLOPATHIC Not taught about preventive...no Big money in it..insurance only pays drugs So it is important to be WISE They do not know ..so you MUST MUST REQUEST A TEST FOR DEFICIENCIES BEFORE any suggestions of drugs..just because it's suggested does not mean must accept God Bless You Really enjoyed video..I live learning about different places You presented 🎁 this so positively. as friend telling us about Vorkuta. Russians, meanwhile are making idiotic videos like this distracting from the horrors that they are inflicting on the Ukrainian nation! They have stolen over 160,000 of our Ukrainian children after slaughtering their parents and have legalized "no questions asked" adoption. I'd love to stay there for a whole month, being in the military myself, I've always found the people in the worst and remote places are the best. To be honest, the city centre there looks very pretty.
In the early 80's I spent 5 years of my youth in Maine, lots of "hicks" guns, hunting, gardens etc.Really I enjoy being with rural people who know how to live off the land and practice frugality as a necessity. The gentrifiers who have moved in along the coast are hostile to the 2A but really it's a way of life for many people. No murders, drug problem or big crime when I lived there. That's changing with "progress" unfortunately.
There is some logic behind it as in such places you only survive by cooperation which requires some kindness and empathy. The parts of the city with inhabitants look somehow pretty, but it would need a new target, entreprise or similar. Otherwise the future of the city is questionable.
@@horatio1962 From former wars we know that war crimes depend less on the ordinary behaviour of the people envolved, but the circumstances. Unfortunately, there is few such thing like a typical war criminal and a never endangered personality you can detect from miles away. Living in a dark city is really a challenge. Thank you for showing the world this part of your country, I understand a big part of this country is above the polar circle, I knew it, but it is better to really see it and understand!
Hello everyone ❤️❤️❤️
Hello Anna 😊
I'm from Russia and I watched this video when being stoned. It's soooo cool.
I hope they can revive this city that the inhabitants love to live in. Amazing, how in this dark environment the people brought the light through happiness in cute coffee shops, children activities and color added to building facades. Enjoyed your video.
It’s hard to live there. Go and try to survive when winter goes 9-10 months. What’s the point
@@1227-z5w , you could be a remote worker and enjoy the lower cost of living.
@@1227-z5wDidn't they say 7 months ? Big diference from 9-10 months. So glad we are not all robots otherwise life would be so boring. Very interesting video. I like all your videos. Thank you from Texas.
Hi Eli.

It's so strange that i stay so far away from this place but feel connected.
Thanks to your simple and beautiful narration.
You did a marvelous video.
Keep it up . Stay blessed.
Leave or starve. That has been the motto of many in small towns in Montana USA for several years now. It is uplifting to see the spirit of the people of Vorkuta.
I've never heard this of Montana

Thank you for your stories, Eli! Badly needed content in such dire times. Russia is so huge and diverse and I‘d love to explore its richness in cultures and landscapes one day. I‘m glad we can do so through your eyes.
There are American cities that are also dying and are growing smaller and becoming violently crime ridden and worst, becoming environmentally toxic for the remaining inhabitants to further stay there like Michigan's Chicago and New York City's surrounding communities and the list goes on and on and on.
@@darthvader5300 Chicago is in Illinois and not Michigan. it was also voted the most beautiful city in the world so maybe not the best example. A better example would be the rust belt where America's industry went to die after globalization crushed it

You did it again Eli. Thank you for showing the world this. Most people never get the opportunity to travel and see what a beautiful world and people there is on this place we call earth. Hopefully the world will change to where the future generations can enjoy a world with nothing but peace and love for one another. The truth will set us free, and love will bring us together
I'm American and I loved this vlog, the people seem to be so warm , respectful and so proud of their town ,if I was younger I dearly would love to stay in this town for a month's vacation and knowing me I probably wouldn't want to leave because of the beautiful people and not a big city. I prefer smaller towns and this town fits my desire.

You could say that the people in Vorkuta are living decent, albeit hard lives as opposed to surviving, just look at all those kids and people enjoying their time in the city center
@@Dart_Conscript yes indeed
If you think about it they were the intelligent people who rebelled against the establishment, who wanted change who were sent there.
With real reindeer, superb!
Eli , cross that bridge in your life when you come to it. I'm sure with your sense of adventure many more bridge's await you !
that took some real courage & adventure, don't you agree?
I remember a pedestrian bridge with "max 1 person" sign in France - not very relaxing... With this kind of adventure, I would be very careful. It could be the last mistake to try it.
Great video keep them coming. Interesting
Thanks so much Eli; your efforts to make Russians human and normal are very much appreciated.

@Chiroylik dunyo what's the matter?
@@florianmeier3186 this is true also…thank you for a careful and respectful response.
Very well said. I think most of us would get along with all our brothers and sisters around the world.
Interesting place. I like to visit places like that. You appreciate the small things in life more. I have a sport house above the arctic circle where it can get below -50 Celsius. Also very peaceful place with friendly people.
The people with the reindeer are Sami, just like here in northern Sweden and northern Norway.
It is too cold outside to care about fashion. Very well explained. Thumbs UP!

I really appreciate your effort in presenting this material. That life isn't for everyone and I can't help but think that cases of depression must be higher than normal.
Yes, Vitamin D deficiency is rampant in our World..and many are unaware why they suffer from depression..
Lack of vitamin D causes depression and also the same for Iron Deficiency
So ND aware because Doctors are really ignorant and are in league with BIG PHARMA.. and will make it worst for you . WHEN YOU ONLY NEEDED Vitamin D or Iron
This iscso prevalent..
Understand Doctors are ALLOPATHIC
Not taught about preventive...no Big money in it..insurance only pays drugs
So it is important to be WISE
They do not know ..so you MUST
MUST REQUEST A TEST FOR DEFICIENCIES BEFORE any suggestions of drugs..just because it's suggested does not mean must accept
God Bless You

#GetOutOfUkraineRussianMonsters #ChildrenOfUkraine #GenocideOfUkrainians #RussianArmyChildRapists #RussianWarCrimes #StolenChildrenOfUkraine. In Ukraine, we have had >500,000 people FORCIBLY MOVED TO CRAPHOLES LIKE THIS IN RUSSIA! Many had been raped, tortured, had children taken off them, sent to "filtration camps" and are now forced to work in labor camps on Russian soil. Russians, meanwhile are making idiotic videos like this distracting from the horrors that they are inflicting on the Ukrainian nation! They have stolen over 160,000 of our Ukrainian children after slaughtering their parents and have legalized "no questions asked" adoption. Many of those children end up abused, exploited, and murdered!!! WORLD, wake up from these hypnotic videos - OPEN your eyes! They rely on the world's naive desire to give everyone the "benefit of the doubt" and constant second chances...
If a Russian speaks, Russian lies!!! This will save you YEARS of HEARTACHE. They pretend to be helpless, but really, they despise every other nation! It is the Russian way. They don't send in boys from Moscow to the frontlines, look at where most of the casualties are from - ethnic minorities in Russia!
Open your eyes!!! Just pause and open your eyes to what most Russians are really - MANIPULATIVE MONSTERS WHO CHANGE MASKS AS IT SUITS THEM!!!

“Very pretty…..” !!???
There is some logic behind it as in such places you only survive by cooperation which requires some kindness and empathy. The parts of the city with inhabitants look somehow pretty, but it would need a new target, entreprise or similar. Otherwise the future of the city is questionable.
What do you mean by 'worst and remote places are the best'?
@@horatio1962 From former wars we know that war crimes depend less on the ordinary behaviour of the people envolved, but the circumstances. Unfortunately, there is few such thing like a typical war criminal and a never endangered personality you can detect from miles away. Under specific setup, many are capable to do extremely ugly things and the current storytelling of Nazi and disrespect for Ukrainian state as such combined with desperate situation and violent leaders favour such crimes. Workuta is famous here for its extremely harsh prison camps in the past. Therefore, the rather friendly main street is somehow surprising. However, I can hardly imaging living there longer time in this darkness.
Just thinking about that atmosphere was scary but the words of the locals in the end were so reassuring.
Excellent video Eli very very interesting and a shame so many have left the city ,but people need work for sure..let's hope there is an other commodity near to support the city or perhaps the coal will start up again.
I doubt. If not as prisoner or for some goldrush, such places are only for very few people as they are very costly and nevertheless lack comfort.
