Man, your thoughts on aesthetics versus mechanical is spot on. I know when I’m doing a big job on my car and it’s going to be on stands for a few days I like to thoroughly clean it and wax it firsts. Seeing it shine gives me more motivation to get the job done.
Just randomly stumbled onto this video, it’s what I need in my life! A project, a bike heading for the scrap but someone takes it on to save it, and make it into a decent bike! I want to start my own RUclips channel, like this, and I hope here in Britain I will be able to get a fair few projects going! Subscribed!!
THIS moment you’re at right now is the most exciting moment when working on bikes and there are no two identical scenarios this is always a unique situation for any bike - LOVE IT 😍
You've got one or the better channel's, rapidly growing. I don't even watch Cycle crusade anymore. Luv these older bikes! I'm your old dude on the '97 Cbr1100xx!
Very excited to see you restore her. Good luck man. Try not to get frustrated. Some times you just have to take a break and walk away. That's if you having problems. Thanx herorr.
When you get to this stage: If you notice the gauge isn't reading your speed, take the tank off, unbolt the speedo sensor and see if it is covered in metal dust. It is a magnet so over time it collects metal dust from inside the engine case and it keeps it from working properly. A quick wipe will make it work again... A lot of used speedo sensors on ebay because people bought a replacement and then realized the old one still worked... Ask me how I know. lol
If only I had your mechanical skills!!! I'm going to absolutely love this series, can't wait to see the bike finished and running. Best of luck and thanks for sharing it with us.
heroRR i don't know if you read that, but you are my favorite yt by far . you make beautiful videos without promoting your merch and you have a realy relaxing style. please keep it up . best greatings from germany ;)
I bought a ZX6R from 99, for 450 euro, about 500 Dollar. Ireceived a 2nd frame, front fork, rear shock, brake calipers, and a 2nd engine with it. Only thing wrong with the bike was it didn't start with the button, only push start. After a week checking all cables, seemed that one plug had bad connection. It's still running fine!
I currently own a 954 , and the bike is an absolute dream to ride and own. Still looks great parked even next to modern bikes , and if u know how to ride it properly it's quite the weapon. I'm very excited about ths series cheers and best of luck to you mate hope the ol girl pulls through.
Good progress for a few hours. I look forward to seeing more. I have two weeks to get my Blackbird MOTed (its annual inspection) so you have given me the urge to get stuck in soon! I shall be doing a full serice, new tyres (tires) and a new head bearing.
Hey, I've had one of these for over 12 years, and have well over 100k miles on it. I've done all the work myself, your biggest issue is gonna be finding good parts. Good luck, bro.
@@amfinc2 absolutely, unless you wanna spend $800+ buying one from the factory. I've been trying to get someone to make an ABS shell for mine, but no luck yet.
Love it, i have the 06 fireblade and my girl has the 03. Hers is awesome to ride and i love the cargo room in the tail meanwhile still looking slick. looking forward to another episode.
I bought one last week in about the same shape. It did run and move but needs lots of tlc and little fixes. I stripped it down to where you are and working on cleaning up the crap wiring and cleaning the rest of the bike.
Usually it's the Rectifier or stator. There's a zenor diode that goes in the ignition which takes it from 12v to 9v that you need. You can check with the pink wire that goes to the computer, hook a 9v battery to it and you should hear the fuel pump prime. Those are the usual issues with fireblades. God bless and good luck.
@@HeroRR I got both rectifier and stator from Rick's Motorsports for my 929. I use a Shorai lithium battery. Haven't had a charging problem since. Shorai batteries are much lighter than an acid battery too. Great deal on the 954, the chrome bits and chopped up wiring means it was a flashy poser's bike, not a true rider. Probably had it scraping the ground and looking like a christmas tree... Glad you're saving it.
Good luck man I have a 929 and they are great bikes! Fuel pressure regulator is a notorious problem on these if you run into issues later keep that in mind
Man, I'm stoked to see you work on it. I hope you put up the next episode soon. Would love to see all your hard work come to fruition and see the bike run! Cheers!!
I love these type of videos! I’m not good at putting things together like you do with bikes HeroRR. Thanks for entertaining us with these videos! Keep up the good work!
My FZR400 costed me 989 bucks. Many things happened with the previous four owners. The first owner took care of it and kept it stock, but the next ones chopped the subframe, trimmed and cut away the tail to make it look sharper, and has a front tire mismatch as the fender is eaten away by the tire. Add all the cosmetic problems, very hard cold starting due to unchecked valve clearances, and all the bits and pieces. Brembo radial master cylinder and clutch lever up front, brakes are probably stock. Rear brake does not work. I was riding the thing home and got hit-and-run by a drunk driver. Buyback me about 600 dollars. Now the task is to find parts, recondition the thing, and fix everything up. Will cost more than two grand probably when sold. Just about as how much $$$ to be spent on repairs. Hope you'll do good on that one. Newer bikes tend to have simpler problems than classic ones! And it's a Honda, so great parts coverage I hope.
One common issue with this bike is the 2/4 shifter fork to go out. Make sure that when it is running to go through all of the gears and make sure it doesn't suddenly pop out of gear. Also, try to avoid synthetic oil as synthetic tends to make the clutch slip. These are great punchy little bikes that love to wheelie with their light weight and short wheelbase.
@@Marine450x I know it sounds like pathetic advice but disconnect everything and re install it. (Yes it's turning it off and on again essentially). You're probably more competent than I am with electrical things, But I do know for one guy that taking it all out and putting it back in made it magically work
I like half Valvoline full synthetic 10w-40 motorcycle oil and half Valvoline 20w-50 regular motorcycle oil, for the best shifting and clutch feel for my 2002 and 2008 bikes.
Wow what an awesome project bike. Great bones. Jesus the 954RR is a FAST bike. Can't wait to follow this build. Great channel too I love your other videos. I love your responsible nod to safety too.
Love to see how this goes! About to buy my second 954 cause my old girl is getting pretty tired at 70000km. Gonna do the old one up slowly on my Sundays. Keep up the good work mate!
Its bulletproof, just needs a decent spark and a bit of fuel.. I can hear it knock already . These engines are notorious for the cam chain adjuster failure.. i would HIGHLY recommend to change the hydraulic can chain tensioner with a manual adjustable one, while everything is easily accesible.. APE racing makes a decent one for like 60bucks.. Just dont be scared if it sounds like u shake a bag of nails when it actually starts...
Quick question about the bank angle sensor, is that just for telling if the bike has been dropped and if so to shut off? Or does it serve another purpose?
Great project!! I have one 954 and use it everyday, to me the best bike!! please revive this one because they are so rare and awesome!!! Keep up the great content!!
I had over 100 new video notifications and this vid was my choice. Love it, I also have a 91 mc22 and a 2000 sc44. Same dash in the sc44 as what your working on lol
Going good and to plan , great to see it coming along, it's far from a pile of junk , its something that's finished production and over the yrs they will get crashed ,scrapped etc and numbers decline , so one day that bike ur rebuilding will be worth much more than you bought it for including your time ,,,look forward to the next video , Shane uk

Make the video at least 10min, that way you can throw some youtube money at your “bad bike” 🤔

The 954 rr is one of my absolute favorite bikes. I owned a 2003 model red and black color scheme. Plenty of power, handled great. Great vid. Thumbs up
This is awesome, looking forward to the build!

keep these series coming man! They're very educative.
Stoked to see the finished product man! This reminds me of a Honda hawk my buddies and I have been building out of boxes of parts
