Throughout the first 3 parts of this series, I sensed the passion and love you have for this machine. It means a lot to many of us out here sitting on your shoulder.
Them not discovering the Killswitch is karma for all that stupid chrome. Good God. Great find man, watching through this series now hoping you end up keeping it. Honda ‘blades are great bikes!
I don’t know why but I have got lil tears by the end of video ... your happiness is just so genuine which is difficult to find in current RUclips scenario
Ahhh... That feeling! I know THAT feeling very well. I have a project bike That I finally got started last Fall. I just took her out for the first ride a few weeks ago. Much like you, I still have a ways to go before she's perfect but it's always a thrill to hear their voices for the first time after so much work.
I initially thought you were mad buying the bike, thinking about all the money you’d have to spend on it. But your low budget hard work approach has been really good and somewhat inspirational. Fair play for saving the bike. Looking forward to similar content in the future.
Great video! An idea for you - what I do is have one "daily runner" - and one "fixer upper" - when the fixer upper is complete - it becomes my "daily runner" and the old "daily runner" gets sold to buy a new "fixer upper" - each time the bike values go up and the bikes get newer! Hope that makes sense? Keep up the great work - so looking forward to the next episode!
Great videos. It’s an a great feeling to take something that been out of commission for long time back running. I recently brought a 1990 vfr750 that’s been sitting for 15 year back alive and on the road. It’s also had the chrome treatment from back in the day. Its a blast bringing something back that others have either given up on or feel it’s not worth it. Good job man look forward to seeing it on the road again.
It's amazing what you can get for cheap. I picked up a 02 Honda VT1100 with 12K for $250. It was a no start that was not winterized. Pulled the carbs, cleaned them up and have been riding it since early May. 2000 miles later its still going strong.
Great result for a minimal outlay of time and money. I had a similar story with an old Sportster. Sat in someone's basement for 14 years and after picking it up for pretty reasonable money, it took about 20 hours of labor and about $200 in parts to get it back on the road. I rode it for 3 years and recently sold it after I bought a Heritage Softail. I even ended up getting a good bit more than I paid for it when I sold it. Don't be afraid of a bike that might need some work!
I dont even want to touch my v4. That thing is crazy complicated. I have a stunted out 636 ninja as well that needs a bunch of odds and ends adjusted and replaced
Hey man, there's always something special about reviving an older abused motorcycle. I've done several now and each one is as special as the first. Guess that's why I have own 7 cycles! lol I cant bring myself to sell them when I'm done. Good job!
This is going to be your favorite bike once it’s complete and you finally get to go for that first ride. All that work will pay off man nothing like restoring/ working on your own stuff
The chrome is electrostatic-ally applied. It's dipped into a bath of several compounds to achieve this, so it's in layers. Best way is to grind or sand it off. They do make a compound that will strip it off though. Man love these old Baba san bikes, the last of the true blade.
Damn bro!! Nice!! There’s always room for another bike!!! Going through the same thing with a 07 1000RR, picked it up wrecked, last owner was a hack. Tons of work, tons of fun!! Keep it up and ride safe!!
Hero, I do powder coating at home as a hobby as well. Any other parts that are chrome and is in good shape you can actually powder right over it. You will get more of a glossy finish. Love the bike love the build love the series keep it up.
Acid bath is how chrome is removed. It also removes any traces of left-behind rust and/or grease so that a new layer of chrome or paint can be safely added to the clean surface. Sandblasting can also be done but then there's a risk of damaging the metal (making it thinner) when not using the right grain.
Man, Keep it build it up. Its a very fun bike to ride and gets a lot of attention. Im sure there are parts everywhere for it . I still love the 954 and love the RC-51.
I say you should keep this series going and get a new project bike. It’s pretty obvious that you really know what you’re doing when it comes to fixing bikes, and that’s good content.
Its definitely a keeper. Its a Honda classic. You should keep it (for 6-12 months at least). Not only because have spent time and money on it. But also because you've given sweated it out and given it the care & love that a classic bike deserves. Who knows may be you'll love it more than can imagine. Just A thought Bro !
Congrats. I am so glad you got it ruuning. The owner you bought it from, sounds like he was an airhead. Well, you're not complaning, although it's gonna be a heck of a job still to get it properly fixed. Awesome bike. Beautiful. Hope you decide to keep it in the end. It's almost like a puppy that you rescued. Ha ha. Thanx for posting. Safe driving.
Awesome work and luck. You never know 100% what you have in situations like this until it finally runs. Hopefully the transmission and clutch are good. I have done this several times. Usually less than $400 bikes with good titles that just arent running. Victory!
Love this series man. So cool to see. Would love to do this someday and learn my way through it. My worry with non running bikes is they have a catastrophic fault like a floated valve or spun bearing.
Woo hoo!! So pleased for you mate. Bikes - notice how its slowly crept into your life like an abandoned puppy!😀 Enjoy. Fireblades are a seriously trick piece of kit.
Enjoy it. Keep the bike. As for chrome, it might be easier to restore some of the chrome parts than to remove all chrome entirely. I’m not a chrome guy either, but long as it’s smooth and looks good keep it.
just enjoy the bike! she is a great bike to have! i think she is a future modern classic in the making, just because they were built only fro 2 years. i have mine and i am not selling it!! in Portugal where i live a good one is selling for 4000 5000 usd. keep up the content.
Yeah, I hate electrics! Intermittent electrical faults have been the death of many a good bike, so well done for tracking it down. Can't see why you would chrome all those parts on a sports bike. Think you are doing the right thing doing it up a bit and enjoying it for a while. Enjoying the content -hello from Scotland
that 954 is the best bike ever made. I am the only owner of my 2002 954,,their worth running and great shape like yours if you can find one for sale,,i havent seen one under 3500 yet and only have seen 3 of them for sale
U bringing back memories of me rebuilding my 03 954.....I've got just over 5gs into her and she's a gem now ! I LOVE what ur doin...keep up the good work Check out the Dominator GP muffler...put one on mine and the exhaust note and tone is intoxicating !!

So Basically u did what professionals COULDN’T? You should be hella proud of yourself man Congratulations
Yessssssssssssss. Love this series. Such a great bike.
Oh maan I've been waiting soo bad for this video
I have a friend that has a REALLY nice 954...unfortunately he got a project truck and hasn't had the bike out in 4-5 years.
@@d.fresh.750 you could take care of her for him, felt bad for that 954 to be treated like that
If that bike can talk, "It's been a long time, thanks mate." :D
The Kill switch Killed it!! No way! next time I have a bike cutting out, that's what I'll check first, love'n the story so far, you a clever fella :)
Dude try selling it and keep doing rebuilds they are my favorite type of content. Maybe even try setting up a patreon and doing rebuilt give aways.
I’ve been thinking about it. But am not sure i wanna do that. We will see though. Maybe the next build
The last owner seems to have liked chrome a bit too much...
Should have just got a Harley.
Hmmmm...never heard of a squid on a Honda......

Fantastic. We can hear the joy in your voice! Watching things like this helps inspire me to get off my ass and get things done!
Please make more series like this one on different bikes loving these vids
Best series on RUclips right now.

My dad would love another fireblade, he had 2 before but sold them to pay the docter's bills for me and my sis
Gift him one when you are financially able to. He'll definitely cherish it.
Take care bro.
Best dad ever right there. the guy above is right if you got the money gift him one.
@@slayerplaysgenshin9842 as much as I like bikes, gifting a motorbike to a loved one, feels just wrong.
Don't give up bro, somehow this series is helping me get through a low point.
Nothing more rewarding than fixing a wrecked bike and riding it. Great job Hero! 👏👏👏
That overwhelming joy you feel when something is working after hard work.. Especially when its a bike!..

Get a battery powered angle grinder for 40 bucks with sanding pads. Worth it for your budget!
Was at a bar talking to a girl. Before getting to 2nd gear I saw this notification.
Now I'm back home with headphones on watching this with a beer.
Your enthusiasm to bring her back to life is very cool!
thank you for saving that bike. I saw the look in its eyes, it was terrified it was heading to the scrap yard but you saved it!
Really gives me hope that I can tear apart my clapped out 636 and fix everything on it. Thanks, dude
