The scene is actually cleverly set up. They show Walker with no oxygen on to give clue to the audience what it looks like without Oxygen. They also show Ethan with the oxygen tube pulled out so we understand its importance. Thus, we’re able to easily understand what Ethan is doing to Walker’s suit when they’re falling and why it’s so important.

I tried to think why this felt the greatest skydiving scene of all the movies I have seen and I figured that the whole flying sequence took place without any cut. Notice that between 2:40 and 5:07 there is no change of shot which makes this scene nonetheless more engaging.
Also it's remarkable how they kept the descent time so accurate. In this scene, Ethan stayed in the air for a little more than 2 minutes and that is close to the actual time it would take for a man to freefall from a height of 25000 ft and reach the ground. Due to this, the tension felt incredibly real like as if we were falling along with the two of them.

I know I overexhagerate but this is basically what directors do to games and then they wonder how the hell did it not work? :-D
