It wasn't really put up through any news media in fact it was put through his website on the RUclips and Twitter for free. It's Tucker Carlson that's not strike claiming anything. The guy really does believe in the freedom of press, which is why an America catches so much crap. You've got the conservatives and the liberals that both attack him just because he thinks people should have freedom of information. I mean just look at this interview none of his questions were biased all he did was ask questions and let the man respond and show it to the world. You got to wonder why do so many people think that's a bad thing?

He also explained how Poland started the war because they had the nerve to not just give their country away. Imagine calling yourself a journalist and stay silent while someone tells you that Poland is to blame for the Second World War. Not only that, but it was Russia that actually started it, with a secret treaty with Germany... Amazing how Tucker didn't say one word about this, must be those because of those journalist schools for rich kids...

@@quillo2747 the main take away from that it has nothing to do with invading Ukraine
I imagine plenty was left out but I recall many of the events and history he highlighted. That generally followed the evolution of the Russian state. Ukraine being a modern invention was news to me though. And even if there are several hundred year old claims to the territory I don't see the justification in expelling the people, language and culture that has arisen in its place since. They are ethnic cousins but it seems family fights, too.
There are plenty of videos picking apart the interview without having to go through the 2 hour of cringe fest.
@@TheRealAb216 it got everything to do with it. Uk. is a part of Russia. End of story. Western people do not understand the relations and that is precisely why he was explaining it.
I was expecting Putin to state that after over 50 years as a kgb analyst and 24 years as autocratic leader he was going to retire and work on his golf game
The irony, he was a KGB agent persecuting anyone related to Christianity, then in this interview he was using Christianity (Russian Orthodoxy) as a reason to claim that he can “unite” with the confused Ukrainian people who don’t want to be friends with his authoritarian state, which is looking for their best interests, since after all, Orthodox Christianity is what unites them. @@dylanderuyter5011I think you missed the point a little. Yes, those are the words he said, but they are still a lie. Politicians generally say whatever they need to get into power and then doggedly hold on for dear life.
Autocrats repress the opposition and deny reality, democratic nations pin blame for events outside of their control on the previous government to inflate their own image and grip on power, communist nations ensure they have only one ruling party so they win by default. Dictatorships murder the populace to strengthen their death grip on the top spot. The list goes on.
The point being, if you truly believe your rulers, political parties and national leaders give a crap about your wellbeing, your life and your happiness, you’re sadly mistaken. They don’t. None of them have ever done. Maybe before they get into office, but that soon ceases to be the case.

I don't believe you will ever hear Putin 'unfiltered'. Bias and propaganda is his filter.
If you think an interview by someone like Tucker Carlson with someone like Putin, posted by official channels after being edited by the Kremlin, is unfiltered? The rights of the specific US translator voice wasn’t probably copyrighted by the broadcaster. As close to the real meaning of the word journalism as you can find these days. (reporting facts to the people).
Can I just ask why the voice of the Russian language translator has changed? The voice we hear on this video translating for Putin is not the original voice that features in the original interview video uploaded to the Tucker Carlson website. Why is that? I notice some of the words that have been translated have been changed also.

Putin speaks perfect English, and we all know it, because he used to brag about it. So why didn't he just do the interview in English if he didn't want an misinterpretation?

I believe the reason he spent so much time framing it as a conflict about historical land claims, was simply to make the majority of NATO governments look hypocritical when given the stance they take on the Israel Palestine conflict.

The real benefit of the interview is that we can hear exactly what Putin wants the American people to hear. tsun Tsu would approve. Let your enemy talk, you can learn a lot by just letting him talk.
This. It was his big pitch. And it's still not a very compelling argument is it? He started a war because of some convoluted historical claims and because Nato wouldn't let them sit at the cool kids table? Fr?
from a rujssian's dissident's perspective who i like, this is just what Ptin has been repating to his own people over and over again nonstop everywhere in russia. He was bored cause he had heard al this.
But people don't know it and the actual replies to what it leaves out. Putin is looking at iike a czar. yes the criticism are valid, but they miss the central point of how actually we heard all this before- from Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin. The same victimization narrative to justify little fascism, the all powerful police state and hard censorship, the "corruption" of anti-imoerailist arguments when yo are an imperalist- which is the point, putin identifies himself with Russian strongman orthodox culture, seems in great power terms- the problem was the world kind of did the "never again" to aggressive fasicim like this, and thats the new thing russia was missing.

There is atrocity and horror in war and the Russians are no different. You also need to understand that vast resources are poured into the Ukranian popoganda machine, fueled by the west. They literally have one party, on authorized news agency, there IS no democracy or free press. Western Ukraine is Russian speaking, Donetsk and Lugansk are RUSSIAN speaking, and have been being shelled, airstriked and raided since 2014. Targeting civilian populations is the definition of massacre and declaration of war. Are Russians on the side of good, hell no. cool let me know when Russia has treaties with any country that they plan to actually follow before you run your stupid yap
Like it's fine for Israel to do what they're doing right now for example
Let‘s be honest here… I mean, anything above National law is more of a guideline really.
Countries don‘t make decisions based on whether something is „legal“, their policies are based on how much their country will benefit and/or lose from them and in case of dictatorships, how it will affect the leader‘s power/influence/personal life.
Aka. International law is basically just a fancy way to say „Please don‘t do/do this thing but it‘s not like we can really prevent you from doing/not doing it.“
Kinda like drug (specifically weed) laws in the US, the powerful get away with it 99.9999% of the time while the weak are the only ones facing consequences, sometimes for things they haven‘t even done
Rewatching that part regarding Clinton and admitting Russia to NATO is interesting. It was a smart question on Putins part to have Clinton/NATO reveal their cards but I don't believe he ever had any intention of joining.
More than likely it was a ploy to get in, just so they can hinder NATO from within. That's basically all they do in the UN
Makes you wonder if Russia was truly interested, Clinton telling him no and then NATO expanding torward Russia…
There really is no surprise, the entire point of NATO is to defend against russia.
Russia also does not think that the North Atlantic Alliance has abandoned the idea of attacking Russia. Your logic works both ways
Another way to read that is that, regardless of what the presedent of the US says they can or will do, they arent actually in charge. Most other leaders of countries can make decisions. It seems that he is highlighting that the US presedent actually has way less authority over anything then what we are led to believe.

It’s either that it was translated from the original undubbed interview which is available online, or used a different translator to avoid it being copyright striked through automated screening. Happens a lot to creators, even if using a clip with permission, which is frustrating!

It is super difficult not to put a spin on anything. Good job for your best effort. I think many people won’t go check the facts, so it would be nice to have a “no spin” background research of all the elements spoken of in the interview.
Simon is good at that.
The closest you're going to realistically get to "no spin" is something like it the Associated Press fact checkers comment on it.
But people will always view things as "spin" if it disagrees with what they think is true.
The problem is that much of what is spoken about in the interview doesnt actually have much facts to check. Putin didnt even have to lie about some of the information he just guided it towards what he wanted and left out the details that are used to counter many of his points. I just finished a modern Ukrainian history course we started in the 7th century to modern day basically his whole rant. Interestingly enough my professor who grew up in the USSR was honest from the start there are 3 major ideas revolving around Ukraine. The Polish perspective, the Russian perspective and the Ukrainian. The easiest way to describe it is this. Poland wants to argue that the people all fled from the now area of Ukraine after the Kyivan Rus collapsed and when Polish settlers came into these territories they found no one so Ukrainians are just Polish people who settled and changed over time. The Russian perspective is that after the Rus collapsed the people fled north to Novgorod/Muscovy and that these are just misguided Russians left behind. Ukraine argues that the people didnt leave just the Rus collapsed and that the poles moved into an occupied are of modern Ukraine and came across Ukrainians. I was stunned when I saw Putin make that exact argument. Ironically enough though we also need to understand modern nation building and historical nation building. Countries always need to create legitimacy for modern democracies our leaders depend on the democratic process, rule of law, and our ethics/rights meaning that our leaders are supposed to be the best fair representation of the populations will. In the past much of this was done through blood lineage. Since Russia converted to orthodox and Byzantium no longer existed the church who produced the primary Chronicle made everything line up where leaders all stem from a bloodline and that's their legitimacy. Putin uses this argument drawing direct legitimacy to Russias claim on the information that we have which is primarily from the original historical texts which came from you guessed it the Orthodox church which at the time was led by Russia. So much of this is all debated heavily. Moving onto his next point Bohdan Khmelnytsky, yes he made an agreement with Russia, but he left out the true reasons it was a shit show long dispute between Polish royalty and himself, the poles took his land killed his wife, but then Bohdan ended up marrying the Poles wife (just a mess of a situation) nevertheless he made agreements with Muscovy where they would fight against the Poles and Lithuanians. The agreement is very much argued to wether it was subordinating Ukraine to Russia or wether it was an agreement of mutual aid (the academics dont have an answer so trust me Putin doesnt either.) Its also important to note that at this time there were two kind of classes in the Russian dominated Ukrainian areas Kossacks were registered or unregistered. Bohdan was registered so this was a Kossack who engaged in politics with Russia vs unregistered which didnt conform to the imperial system. He then glossed over Ivan Mazepa another Ukrainian Kossack. Mazepa during the Swedish-Russian wars actually crossed sides and supported the Swedes because Peter I was to relieve him as hetman (leader) of the zaphorizian sich or the registered kossacks in left bank Ukraine and replace him with a Russian leader. At the time Sweden had progressed through Poland and most of Western Ukraine. Peter sent his forces down crushed the rebellion and the sich Mazepa fled dying not very long later. At this point Ukrainian identity or the Kossacks existed in alot smaller of a role other than more or less symbolic slaves of the Russian empire. Then we have his comments on Poland though they did take land from the Czechs this was disputed territory since the end of WW1 he called them collaborators, yet failed to mention the secret protocols signed during the Molotov Ribbentrop pact that set "zones of influence" between Germany and Russia. Then leading the Russian winter war and the forced annexation of the Baltics. All of this was denied for most of the Soviet period but under Gorbachev and glastnost (openness) they admitted to the secret protocols and annexation at gunpoint of the Baltics. Oh also they annexed part of Romania bessarabia and present day Moldova (ding ding tranistrias a problem too). Stepping back for a second he never mention Ukrianian independence movements during the Soviet civil war Ukraine had multiple divided groups and weir warlord organisations. Socialist anarchists joined the reds in left bank Ukraine and the strongest Ukrainian independence group (this is where many of the Ukrainian symbols of today come from like the Tryzbub) had expanded to Kyiv but was sandwiched between the Polish independence movement who claimed the territory and the Bolsheviks. This is all I can comment on that I remembered he mention in his rant but I'll say one final thing. Most history we have today isnt factual its historical myth. All nations create historical myths to further their legitimacy, Russia, Ukraine hell America, Britain and everyone else has these Myths. Putin went on this rant to set his version of history on the world. He doesnt need it to be true he just needs it to be plausible enough for people to think hes smart and that it could be right all the while hes actively changed textbooks in Russia (history textbooks specifically) to align with this version. His idea of we were there it's all ours makes little sense if you look at places like kaliningrad or the fact most of modern Russia should probably go back to the mongols cause there were there first. I hope this provided some insight if you have any other questions feel free to ask.
@@nolanorvold4442putin attacking ukraine to protect russian minority is just as valid as nato attacking serbia to protect croatian minority. Which one is correct? If it’s illegal, then both are illegal. If it’s legal than both is legal
