A very lovely video and a whole lot of fun to watch. The woman who is introducing Dr. Siegel and who ends up being used as his assistant as his foil (playing the part of a mom with a shy five-year-old who doesn't want to go to a pool birthday party) is simply delightful -- her natural reactions as the not-so-perfect mom brings the whole video alive. Dan Siegel is such a clear presenter of these concepts -- he makes these ideas so accessible to the audience.
I teared up a bit, that video was funny, informative and true. A have a child on the extreme side of things and this definitely helps build my confidence as a parent to do whatever I need to do and not listen to the social side of my brain.
two problems with parents: (no. i am not a doctor but i play one on tv). #1. most people have no idea how much time it takes to raise a child properly. #2. once parents realize how much time and patience it takes to raise a child properly they don't want to give it that much energy so they yell, scream, hit and coerce the kid.
Didn’t like this presentation by dr siegel - he came across as very arrogant and patronising about the subject matter. It looks like he is more interested in audience laughing at his jokes and flirting with the presenter! You really didn’t help the matter Dr Siegel - it’s a painful situation for parent and child! You come across as belittling the party situation. Real put off - naturally some very interesting scientific information here but ruined by the presentation.
