You can either shade the wanted or unwanted region. Usually in an exam you are asked to "identify" the region R by labelling it so either method is fine.
Sure, I can. I said in the video I selected "some nice x values". It doens't matter really which ones you select as long as they will plot onto the graph. You can pick whichever ones you like and technically only need 2 of them. I'd recommend 0, 1, 2, 3 as they are generally easy to substitute.
