Alex Meixner Plays Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love) - Texas History Month

Howdy, y'all! My wife and I recently moved to the great state of Texas, and wouldn't you know it, today, March 1st, marks the start of Texas History Month!
To celebrate, I'm kicking things off with a Texas classic: "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)", written by Chips Moman and Bobby Emmons, and originally sung by the legendary Waylon Jennings with Willie Nelson. I learned this song on stage in Ennis, TX while being shamed by Bubba Hernandez and Michael "El Chavalon" Morris for not knowing it many years ago. Since then, it has become one of my favorite love songs of all time. The lyric is so real, and the melody perfectly complements it. It was particularly special for me to perform this song on stage in Luckenbach at a "Live, Free and Fly" 4th of July Celebration a few years ago.
Throughout the month, I'll be sharing more iconic Texas tunes. So, y'all sit back, relax, and get ready to experience a musical taste of the Lone Star State! Hope you enjoy the ride!

Alex Meixner is one of the most dynamic accordionists on the scene today. Meixner has performed around the world, notably at American festivals like The National Folk Festival and Central Park SummerStage, as well as at uncountable community celebrations and accordion-centric events. He has worked with Jack Black on the Sundance-screened, Netflix movie "The Polka King", with Post Modern Jukebox, and as an on-screen spokesperson for Hormel Pepperoni.

Very nice! Thinking of Texas songs, I'll put in a good word for Al Dexter's "Guitar Polka." It spent sixteen weeks atop the country chart in 1946, but isn't well known anymore.
