The Story of Katana Hero

- The wicked Dr. Edo has summoned Evil Spirits to take over the city, and haunt everyone and everything in it. It's up to one man, an unnamed Spirit Hunter, to stop him, but a surprise is in store for the Spirit Hunter, one that rocks him to his core and makes him question everything he knows. Will he be able to defeat Dr. Edo and his Ghouls or will everyone in the world be doomed to suffer the haunting of the Evil Spirits? Find out now in the story of Katana Hero!
This was an April Fool's update that Askiisoft put out for Katana Zero. As far as I know, it's only available on the Steam versions of the game and only available in English.
To access Katana Hero, follow these instruction in your steam client:
1) Right-click the game in your library.
2) Go to Properties, then click Betas.
3) Enter 'notthedlcbro' and choose the beta branch.

I honestly thought that this was the alleged Katana Zero DLC that finally came out.
Not yet, but next Tuesday is the 4 year anniversary of the release of the game. Maybe we'll hear something then? Here's hoping!

I read about someguy that had played Katana Hero unknowingly and had thought that Katana Hero was the official story about banishing evil spirits. He was super confused when he discovered the actual story of Katana Zero.
my friend gave me his old computer that contained this game. He pirated it, and the goober who uploaded the file made it so that the DLC option was checked, so I played this game thinking that this is the real story. Im glad though because I was 10 and I didn't want to see gore.
I remember seeing a comment saying their friend let them play katana zero but he insisted that he (the friend) should install it, so he played through katana hero, thinking there was a metaphor here. He realized the difference when he saw the secret final boss fight on youtube.

You’re out here asking the real questions.
At the end of the normal game when he kills the psychiatrist, he finds an order listing and location for a supply of chronos, so he’s just getting it from there. The order shipment also states the time new deliveries arrive, so Zero actually has his fix of chronos for as long as those deliveries show up.

My headcanon is that this is just one of Zeros Escenarios in his head where he decided to daydream and imagine that hes actually doing something good.
I love how you put time and effort into recapping a joke story in the same style as your regular recaps
Katana Hero is a funny little story, but it was kinda tedious to play through the entire game again just to get a few good laughs, final boss design pretty cool tho, and it's still Katana Zero, it can never be bad

Finally played Katana Zero yesterday. I've also rewatched your story summary (another great video). I was kinda disappointed with Katana Hero. I was hoping we'd get two or three missions and some cutscenes that further reveal the lore of KZ's universe. I was hoping KH would be to KZ what Midnight Animal (the in-game universe movie) is to Hotline Miami.
More lore of a game i didnt even know, that i didnt even noticed it when it came out, and im never playing it unless the lore captures me? Heck yea
So this is a joke update to the game and isn't meant to be taken seriously. If you haven't played the original, Katana Zero, I definitely recommend it! It's super fun and has a very mystifying story. It leaves off on a cliffhanger, which is a bummer, but the rest of the game is really good!

Dude, I don’t know why you didn’t use the joke intro, you DEFINITELY should of gone with. It just fits so well with the joke scenario of Katana Hero 😂😂.
Lol. I really wanted to, but felt like the transition in tone from that bombastic, jokey Intro to my normal presentation would've been weird and off putting.
My wife made a good point too: I don't really do "funny" or "joke-y" stuff, so the reaction from people would probably be less positive than I would've liked (look at the "Biker's Death EXPLAINED" video I made years ago as an example).
I think it came out amazing though, so I'm really happy I included it at the end!

I’m not sure yet! I guess it depends on what the Quests, Secrets, and Campfire Conversations they added are. If they add some interesting new story bits, then I probably will! But if it’s just filler content I’ll probably skip it. I don’t want to force a video on something that isn’t there, y’know?
Also depends on my time. I only make these in my free time, and that's a scarce commodity nowadays. Lol. We'll see what happens!
Have you played otxo on steam? i found very interesting and the story being very mysterious.
I haven't played it, but right around when it came out, I watched someone play through it for a couple of hours. Didn't get to see too much of the story, but from what I've heard, it's a pretty fun game! Does the story get pretty crazy?

I’m working on it now! Sorry it’s taking so long. I do all the researching and playing and writing and recording and editing all on my own, and only in my free time (which has been in short supply lately), and all that takes a while to do. I promise it’s coming though! I hope to have the video out sometime this month, but it might bleed into next month depending on how much I get to work on everything. We’ll see what happens! Idea you can make a summary of the hunter series from hotline Miami it's one of if not the best custom campaign made in the editor I would appreciate it if you check it out
It's been requested a few times, but I wouldn't feel right profiting off the Hunter campaigns when the creator, THELEGOMack, put way more work into them FOR FREE, so I've never done it.

I know it's a long series and game but could you consider Diablo or Wasteland
I know it seems backward, but I don't really ever do videos big budget video games because people typically don't watch them. For instance, check out the view counts on my Last of Us and Bioshock videos, and compare them to the view counts for videos on less well known games like Furi, The Tarnishing of Juxtia, and Signalis. Not sure if that happens because there are already other channels that cover those games (likely) or my style just doesn't work with those types of games (also likely), but it's clear to see the difference.
While I'd love to do videos on more well known games, the pay off for the work just isn't there as of now. Maybe sometime in the future though!

The wait for the next video might be a while. I’m working on one now, but it’s turning out to be a long one, and I’m not quite sure it’ll be done before the Darkest Dungeon II releases. It's from the actual developer. The only thing that's new is the story though. All the levels and mechanics are the same, so while it's "new," it's not exactly new. It was fun to play through though! If you've got a couple hours and want to play some Katana Zero again, this is a great way to do it!
