I have a theory: The malaise didn't start from the island, it started from OUTSIDE the island. My reasoning is because first it started from stilt village, which is the dock of the island and spreaded from there to everywhere else. What further strengthens my reasoning is the lighthouse ending being the world outside the island has already been infected by the malaise.
It's kinda ironic that we play as the villain who only really cares about himself. The story is indeed a tragedy that is masked behind amazing gameplay & lore that takes a bit more effort to understand. But once you do you dont really see things the same.
It’s funny how most think the Beheaded is the hero of the story or a troubled protagonist, until the giant reveals the truth about him, and then we see how little he cared about the state of the Realm in the true ending.

I had a theory that the king's behavior is the same as who you see as Beheaded. Until i heard of Morass of the Banished. I thought it was basically just "some guy who's flaws are kinda funny and his self absorbness is comedic" to "a cruel and selfish king ready to sacrifice billions of lives for himself". And only ever because of a change in circumstance, the Malaise revealing the bad side of his bad side.
Really amazing video! Just two things to mention... Firstly, what about the whole thing of the Queen and the Gardener's affair? • In the Delapidated Arboretum, the same lore with the couches, when you interact with one of them it reads the following messages: _"Gloves, a pitchfork... Maybe a courtier tried their hand at gardening? No, you wouldn't find one that would sit on such a shabby piece of furniture. Or wear this outfit. It seems the gardener had his entrances into the palace too."_ • Also, another thing to notice is that one of the Gardener's Logs (one that you yourself read in the video) states the Queen's people don't recognize him anymore, which is weird... Why would the Gardener ever leave the Delapidated Arboretum? And most of all, why would he go all the way to the Queen's place? Hmmmmmmmmmm...... Secondly, this us mostly a theory, but what about the whole "Time Keeper is the 4th Servant"? • Firstly, an analysis on them. The Servants each use a different type of weapon, Calliope uses a Survival-based weapon (Wrecking Ball), Euterpe uses a Tactics-based weapon (Gilded Yumi) and Kleio uses a Brutality-based weapon (Bladed Tonfas). The Time Keeper not only uses all of those three, but also her own magic, which maybe could count as a fourth weapon type, which the Beheaded is simply not able to perform since it don't require just skill, but knowledge (which, let's be honest here, the beheaded kinda lacks that). Also, about weaponry (thanks Cookie), in the room with the Queen's portrait we see a weapon rack with five weapons, but three of them are not present. Those three are the Gilded Yumi, Bladed Tonfas and Wrecking Ball. What are the two left? A sword and a dagger, the same weapons the Time Keeper uses. • Design-wise, all of them are women with yellow and white based outfits and all of them wear masks, tho it's good to notice that Time Keeper has a lot of blue, which can just be a contrast to the red clocktower, to represent her "ice" powers (proved by her blueprint drops of Ice Shards and Ice Crossbow). • Also, there's something really interesting here. The name of the Servants are the same name as three of the nine muses in Greek Mythology, thus the Time Keeper's real name could be any of the other muses (Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Urania, Erato, Thalia or Melpomene). • Another thing to notice is that Kleio uses a "frisbee-like" attack that's shown by a yellow beam of light, exactly like one of Time Keeper's attacks. • Lastly i just want to point out how "random" TTK is to the lore, like... You're telling me this girl randomly decided to play with time because of the Malaise? Nah, i think just like how the King granted the Astrolab to the Alchemist, he granted the Clock Tower to the Time Keeper as another person trying to find the solution for the cure to the Malaise. And it would also make sense for her to know the King, her being an ex-Servant (also, i always associated the colored rooms in the High Peak Castle to three of the main Malaise Scientists. The Green Room to the Gardener, the Blue Room to the Alchemist and, with this connection, the Red Room to the Time Keeper).
I've never heard of these, and didn't see any evidence/implications in the game that would hint at these. Do you mind taking the time to go into detail about them?
@@cacovonluca you could also mention the fact that in the room with the King and Queen portraits, the weapons from the servants are gone, and the only ones left are a sword and dagger, which are exactly the type of weapons Time Keeper has on her, although she seems to have left those there and found better ones.
@@cacovonluca You mind if I pin this comment so others can see it? While I think they stray pretty far into speculation, others might like to read them!
Good video, but theres some things you forgot about. The time keeper didnt just play with time randomly, she repeated the same day over and over again, to keep (infected) survivors, mainly the king, alive. Also the only reason the gardener went to the lighthouse was because he was good friends with the queen. This game has very good lore, but i think they couldve done it better. I like the way they did it, like youre not forced to understand it, but for those who want to try, they couldve made things a bit easier to piece together
It's insane that, after nearly five hundred hours and finishing all of the story, I'm fairly sure I haven’t seen all the rooms or flavour texts I saw in this video.
Excellent story cover. The only thing you missed was that, according to the wall with the weapons of the queens servants, the time keeper appeared to be one of her guard as well. Being from pagan origin, she was likely using techniques and/or technology from the ancients to mess with time. This would also explain why in the clock tower, there are lore rooms with floating weapons, in a similar fashion to the fractured shrines. Her ability to mess with time may have also factored into why the king married the queen and built the clock tower in the first place. But aside from that, you covered it all incredibly well!
A headcanon I wanna propose for how "stories" of other heroes gets involved in this world could be 1) The Timekeeper messing with time created a nexus point that caused artifacts of other worlds to be dragged in. 2) A alternate universe version Castlevania is canon in the world and it was the castle approaching the island that via Dracula's and Death's magic to "resist death", unintentionally combined with malaised messing up the dimensional stability of the island. (This is assuming that all DLCs take place at the same time and chronologically following their real life releases and we assume that the entire world hasn't been malaised and its just a majority of it. Good luck Belmonts)
Never knew dead cells had such a comprehensive lore. I guess it adds up with all the DLCs . Great to see you back and doing well and I hope you keep doing what you do . Cheers my dude and congrats on 100k
RUclips recommendations ate with this one, 20 seconds into the video I thought “this guy sounds familiar” come to find out I watched his deadcells video from 3 years ago 🙏🏾 the run back 💀
I really have to give a hand to you for tracking all of these disconnected bits to bring the full story together. Unlike Dark Souls, where the locations and characters are consistent in their location and connectivity, you really have to work for the story here and hats off to you for summarizing. Really great video!
Fun fact for everyone! If you wear one of the Dracula outfits and go fight Dracula, his “intro speech” will be different. Turns out he doesn’t like it when people copy his attire…
Wasn't there something in one of the loading screens about a rewritten line from Call of Cthulhu, stating that some sort of Elder God was involved in the story, and how it starting to wake up could have been the cause of the Malaise?
That’s one of the blurbs for the Infested Shipwreck, and it translates to something “In his home at Dobor, dead Staphy waits dreaming.” The word “Staphy” is the replacement for Cthulhu in that sentence which would be the name of the Cosmic God. Staphy also calls to mind “staph infection” which seems to insinuate that there could be a connection to the Malaise. But since development on the game has stopped, we’ll never know if they intended to develop that thread further. However, the Leghuggers (and maybe Armored Shrimps?) are called “lil staphy” in the code, so the blurb seems more like it’s hinting at them rather than a cause of the Malaise. I mean, I guess they could be the cause, but we see that they lay eggs and hatch from a dead body instead of reanimating it from the dead, so doesn’t seem like they’re the cause. (Unless it’s one of those things where they brought the pathogen in with them, but we see no evidence of that in the game, so it’s all just speculation.) As an aside, I wish they developed that Staphy/Eldritch God thread further in another DLC rather than make Return to Castlevania, but I can’t blame them for making what they wanted to make and it’s out of my control (and never gonna happen now), so oh, well. Thanks for watching!
Even though I'm still trying to beat Dead Cells at 5BC to get the true ending, I can still say it's the most fun roguelite game I've ever played. Great video man and wow you're almost at 100k subs!
This and Risk of Rain 2 have drained soooo much time out of me while making videos for them. Lol. If you had to guess, what do you think my playtime in Dead Cells is? Yeah, I know! Super exciting! I think I'll hit it around September/October if I keep trending the way I have the past couple months! As always, Rickard, thanks for the continued support, my man!
its such a shame that the whole staphy thing didn't go anywhere,it would have been nice to fight a lovecraftian god maybe even make him the source of the malaise maybe even give the beheaded/king a semblance of redemption by making him rally up his former allies(now bosses like the giant, the hand of the king, the collector and the queen) across multiple runs for one last charge against the god who ruined up their lives
Maybe in a sequel the King will see if he can find the sourse of what the Malaise is and kills it and has the time keeper send him back each time he fails or finishes due to his enjoyment of slaying the monsters caused by it. He saves the world, but for a selfish aim of his own personal enjoyment. Basically how like Wario was in Super Mario Land 3 Wario Land where he does something for the reward instead of being selfless. It still shows he's an asshole, but will do something good for the sake of his goals being fufilled.
This is by far the most cohesive and robust summary of the story I've come across. I'm late to the game. Only started playing a few months ago. I think I'm going to enjoy the experience more now that I have an actual idea of what's going on around me. Thank you!
Im glad you made this video. I have accepted that i will never get past 4 BC, and this video came just in time. The revelation that you are the king the whole time blew my mind. Very well put together man!
Agreed. Also, as an aside, I was so disappointed when The Queen and the Sea DLC came out and there were like... No lore rooms. Big bummer for me. Still fun though! Thanks for watching!
See I loved deadcells but the lore aspect was something that always irked me, like literally I didn’t even get half the war rooms throughout my run so it’s nice to see someone did it all cohesively Great work as always, always love these videos
I'm so glad you were able to explain the entire plot of the game, as it has been my major inspiration for my arts and one of my most favorite games!!! Solid video man, love it very much :) However, I am still scratching my head behind the origins or development of the health flask. Is it the sap that runs through the Slumbering Sanctuary (evident by how it reduces the malaise), or is it left a mystery??
It’s never mentioned in the game where it comes from, but I like the theory that it’s the Sanctuary Sap. And since the Beheaded/King is immune to the Malaise, it makes sense why he can drink it without any of the negative side effects!
I'm so glad I watched this because there's no way Id be good enough to get all of this on my own. You did a really good job piecing it together. Youre a good storyteller.
Lovely video lad, just a quick correction at about 17:25 "the venus flytraps had a new appetite for flesh" --> They always did, they are carnivorous plants.
At 24:24 I expected you to say that how in the game after the a few runs the Gardener was disappeared and then later on, reveal the real identity of the Scarecrow is the Gardener. But none the less, great video 👍
Thanks, Rickard! Hit it a couple of weeks ago! Never though I'd see the day... Super exiting stuff! Thanks for the support through the years, man! Appreciate it!
I am so thankful for this video, I always wished to know more about dead cells lore and finally there's something complete and exhaustive. Amazing job!
even aftel all that the Queen is sorry that she have to kill him, not to mention calling behheaded "my love" im suprised to be honest thie means that thrue it all they didn't had that bad of a reletionship... good for them i guess?
From a lore blurb I saw on a loading screen it said 'the first to be infected was the guards of the prison but maybe noone noticed a change in the prisoners'
Oh, finally ! That's really nice. Small complaint: some of your statements seemed to be a little too speculatory, and near the end you were moreso telling what a 5BC player would see rather than going too deep into it with the explanations.
Thanks for the feedback! Whenever speculation starts to get thick, I always try to use words like "may" or "seems" or things like that to indicate that there's some wiggle room in the interpretation, but I guess I didn't do it well enough! Lol. Where do you feel the speculation was heavy? And what kind of explanations would you rather seen towards the end?
@@SquatchGamingChannel Well... Near 7:54 you said the apostates were part of the royal court, but the images you showed read to me as them simply being people that lived on the island and happened to be good at medical things, but were later banished to the shores. (do note that I have not played Dead Cells in a while so maybe there is evidence but you didn't show it) At 11:38 you mentioned an order to keep people in prison after they were proven to be healthy, although the dialogue only mentions them serving their time, which seems to me like it's just talking about prisoners being kept in prison for some time because that's how prison works in most places, people usually serve time in prison, then are freed. The king seems to just want people infected to stay there and not be freed, so they don't infect anyone else. If they were healthy, there would be no more need to keep them there than anyone else, really, although I guess they did start putting everyone else there too eventually. 15:07 Why do you act as if infected animals came significantly later than prisoners ? Perhaps they simply were not focused on because they were more easy to get rid of and/or harder to notice/there were less of them. This "it was soon found" just feels a bit odd to me, you could have just mentioned that the Malaise was not limited to humans and that infected animals were still very dangerous. For 18:27 it could just be that the people using it... died... Also at 23:00 this isn't a case of too much speculation but I feel like the "day 1" repeat was hinting at a time loop which you did not go much in depths about despite it being required for special dialogues on replay from some people and everyone being brought back to life every day (perhaps also the tutorial knight stating that you were not the only one in the "you cannot die" situation). 27:41 The alchemist claims that "some say" the sap is doing that, so he's taking some to try it out, I'm not too sure on the Ancient Basin connection but I guess both are orangeish. At 29:39 I don't actually remember much since it's been a while but wasn't it implied that the giant was killed after complaining about the alchemist to the king ? Other things: At 32:36 in 5BC you can have malaise infection though can't you ? At 33:48 you did not really explain how cells seemed to magically appeared in chests and all, seems you tried to say it like it just happened leaving only questions with no theory on how or why, same with Boss Stem Cells, which I mean could just be noncanon or something, same with the crossover weapons and skills. 35:40 you didn't really explain the rune you gain there, which is kinda very important for 48:04 43:20 you make it seem like the Giant cannot be fought before 4BC, you don't say it - and do imply that it's not needed by later talking about how something special happens at 4BC - but the way you tell the story is confusing. Also the end was a little... anticlimactic ? Like "ehh they fight the end", although I guess it's just how the game ends. Still, I would've liked for you to talk more about what this could mean and truly end. It just feels to me like the way you told the events of the game were a little too... I don't know, precise ? Like, on what exactly happens in a playthrough, with things that seem unnecessary to talk about, and not enough talking about what those events actually mean. Am I annoying complaining about too much speculation at times then asking for more speculation at other times ? (oops-) Oh, also, side note, this may seem like a lot but overall I'd say this video is really good. The editing especially, putting gameplay showcasing evidence for your claims in the background is just genius and I wish more people did similar things rather than trying to explain "so you see in this room here you can find this dialogue which says-", those take way too long to explain simple things but your format is very efficient.
Wow, real thorough! I'll share my thoughts for each! 7:54 - I can see that interpretation! My thinking came from the the line "The most senior of the King's medical advisors..." which suggests they were in the employ of the King. "Royal Court" probably wasn't the best words to use, but they did have an association with the King 11:38 - To me, the message "even after they have served their time" means to not let any prisoners leave, period. Doesn't matter if they were healthy, sick, or their sentence expired - they were to be kept in Prison no matter what. There's also the Prisoner that mentions that he was healthy, but felt the need to break out of the Prison (you can see a clip around 09:46 of what I'm mentioning). He's not infected, but, suggested by the tally marks on the wall of the cell, he's been kept in Prison for looong time, most likely past the end of his sentence. 15:07 - Guess it was just poor word choice! 18:27 - Guess it was just poor word choice! 23:00 - I wanted to keep the Time Shenanigans vague because when you scrutinize it more heavily, it kind of falls apart. Why do some people stay dead, like the King's Original Body or the Tutorial Knight, after a reset? Why doesn't the Homunculus King/Beheaded lose all his runes and Boss Cells and Items and whatnot after a reset? Why does the reset happen after going through the Fountain instead of after the Time Keeper warps away? Why can't the Time Keeper of the "Original Loop" reset that loop after the King drinks the Panacea and kills the Collector to try and find a way to stop him from doing that? Why can't she stop the King's Infection or prevent the further spread of the Malaise? Without a timeline of when she starts her work (besides "before the events of the game") and what the extent of her powers are, I thought it best to gloss over it and mention the loop stuff later. 27:41 - That's a case of when I use "seem" to frame it a possibility instead of definite thing. Plus, I feel the implication is pretty strong from the game in that regards. 29:39 - Not that I've seen. In that lore room, it just says "I don't know what happened between him and the King..." so it doesn't say for sure. The Giant gives us the best idea in the dialogue I showed. But happy to be corrected if that's the case! 32:36 - Yup! It used to happen on lower BC difficulties too. I figure that's not the King (as in the Homunculus form) being infected, but the body he inhabits. Or something like that 33:48 - That's because there's nothing out there about it! 35:40 - Ah, true! Although, it is weird that the King gets that ability only after he keeps his first run, isn't it? 43:20 - Good point! I guess I could have taken some time to talk about the Giant fight when I was talking about how the Island changed, eh? Are you genuinely asking me? I would say No, you're not being annoying. First of all because I asked you, and secondo f all you're obviously passionate about this and seeing your excitement about it is great to see! :) Happy to hear you enjoyed! Like I said in the video, I'm not perfect so the video isn't perfect, but I did the best I could! Awesome to hear you like the editing. Sometimes I worry that I'm approaching these types of videos the wrong way since I don't do the style you mentioned (the whole "so this letter says, 'blah blah blah' which we can take to mean yada yada yada" style), but I've always like to back up my words with evidence, so this style seemed natural to me. I haven't always been perfect with that, straying way to far into speculation sometimes (just watch my Risk of Rain story summary video for an example!), but always try my best to share what these stories are about. Thanks for the chat, man! Enjoyed talking with you! And thanks for watching!
Thank you! Happy to hear you enjoyed! I don't think there's a lot of lore to the weapons or powers? Maybe like one sentence blurbs about something, but nothing too crazy or in-depth (at least nothing that's not tied back to this stuff)
I think that part with crossovers and Castlevania doesn't beling to lore, they probably havent thought about them in lore terms. But what about the end is that time keeper probably send an alternate king to kill the original one, so he wont interrupt her work ressurecting timeline with panacea in it.
Sure, but if I didn’t include it, I couldn’t say the video includes all the DLCs! Besides, I feel like it slots in pretty well/inconsequentially! I could see that as a possibility, but I think it’s just the Alternate King going through the Island like normal. He just meets the King instead of the Hand at the end. Thanks for watching!
Yall I just realized something: 1. The collector is the actual final boss of the game but has been secretly preparing you for the fight by using the cells to give you new powers and gear, thus letting you have a fighting chance against him but in return became evil himself and tried to kill you but failed.
What an epis story!🔥🔥 Kamu menceritakan cerita game ini dengan sangat baik. Saya tidak akan menontonnya hingga akhir sampai saya bisa menamatkan dead cells itu sendiri. Good jod bro👍🔥🔥
The Story doesnt exactly end where you said it does: the 2 versions of the king merged into one and broke the time Keepers messed up (when everything got glitchy) - After that, the glitches stopped and when slashing through the enemies in the now ongoing original time loop the 2 merged kings sometimes talk to each other which is highlighted with diffrent colours of the text bubbles (blue and red) when the king sometimes talks to himself Now I dont know if that means He broke the time keepers loop entirely and redoing All the runs is just for the Sake of being able to have gameplay still going on OR if He is actually still trying to escape the loop Otherwise great video - even noticed a few things extra that i didnt realize After playing this for like, what.. 350hrs? Good Job:D
It revolves around the Oiled Sword and Fire Grenade. You hit them with the Oiled Sword to apply Oil stacks on the enemy. Throw the Fire Grenade to set the Oil on fire. Now attacks with the Oiled Sword do Crits for ten seconds. The reason why the damage is so high is because the Oiled Sword I had did double damage to a target that was covered in Burning Oil which synergized perfectly with the whole build, allowing for massive damage. The other two items (shield and infantry grenade) could be swapped out with your own preference of items. Not sure how viable the build is on higher difficulties (usually use Tactics for those runs). Really only played with it on 0BC. In theory, would still be devastating.
Yeah, the story hasn’t fundamentally changed, so if you’ve watched the old stuff, this won’t include anything groundbreaking. But it does put everything in order while adding new stuff. I guess you could call it a “Definitive Edition” of sorts. At least I didn’t just chop up my old videos, splice them into a new one, and upload that. That would have sucked. Lol. Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
I don’t really have a lot on her. When she first meets the King, she says he’s the Anomaly that “She” mentioned. The “She” is probably the Time Keeper and the “Anomaly” part is probably referring to the King’s resistance to being reset like the rest of the Island whenever the Time Keeper does her time shenanigans. That’s really the best I’ve got Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
It's strange that they both simontasly are both, since they are the same person and have the same history, just the king returned back to what he was and the homucolus kept part of what he was. Now I question, what counter to specifically him would there be, maybe an Irony that the Malise was an en Eldritch Oopsie that the being that created it actually fixes or tries too but Due to a certain Dunkey, it can't even keep it's form long enough to reverse the effects or atleast aradcate the loop so the world can be allow to be reborn. Showing that even the Unknown that basically has the another solution is tharwted due to you know, still this loop of his dumbass being a dumbass is starting to get repetive, though it'll take time to come up with a Good enough ending for this bastard, as Good enough would be the best this thing can do. Maybe through the battle with himself He accidently goes back in time and through a rare instance of humanity prevents the malise from being risk, then getting withdrawl symptoms tries to make sure it does happen, Though unlike his previous actions he doesn't succedd completing a Good enough action while being himself.
I'm working on one for Darkwood right now that's super long (around an hour and ten minutes). I hope to have that done around October. Sorry about the wait! I don't have a lot of free time nowadays to work on videos, but I'm doing what I can! Thanks for asking and thanks for your patience!
It was added in an update between the Queen and the Sea and the Return to Castlevania DLCs. Once per run, in the Collector Hallway between levels, a special chest will appear that will take you to the Bank and replace the level you were going to go to. It’s pretty neat! Thanks for watching!

It’s on the backlog though, and I’ll probably make a video on it sooner or later! 2. I’ve never heard of Genopanic. I took a look at it, and I really like the look of it! I don’t think I’ll ever make a video on it, but I might play it at some point! 3. I have a theory:
The malaise didn't start from the island, it started from OUTSIDE the island. My reasoning is because first it started from stilt village, which is the dock of the island and spreaded from there to everywhere else.
It seems the gardener had his entrances into the palace too."_
• Also, another thing to notice is that one of the Gardener's Logs (one that you yourself read in the video) states the Queen's people don't recognize him anymore, which is weird...
@@HaphazardousSpace True! Completely forgot about that detail!
@@SquatchGamingChannel Edited the comment with more evidence :3
Thank you for coming back man. We all missed you.
Not going anywhere yet! Just takes me longer to make these. Lol.
Thanks for the support, man! Appreciate it!
A headcanon I wanna propose for how "stories" of other heroes gets involved in this world could be
1) The Timekeeper messing with time created a nexus point that caused artifacts of other worlds to be dragged in.

That’s one of the blurbs for the Infested Shipwreck, and it translates to something “In his home at Dobor, dead Staphy waits dreaming.”
The word “Staphy” is the replacement for Cthulhu in that sentence which would be the name of the Cosmic God.
(Unless it’s one of those things where they brought the pathogen in with them, but we see no evidence of that in the game, so it’s all just speculation.)
As an aside, I wish they developed that Staphy/Eldritch God thread further in another DLC rather than make Return to Castlevania, but I can’t blame them for making what they wanted to make and it’s out of my control (and never gonna happen now), so oh, well.
Thanks for watching!
"Conjunctivitis" and the fact that's an eye 😭. Anyways very cool
As always, Rickard, thanks for the continued support, my man!
its such a shame that the whole staphy thing didn't go anywhere,it would have been nice to fight a lovecraftian god maybe even make him the source of the malaise
maybe even give the beheaded/king a semblance of redemption by making him rally up his former allies(now bosses like the giant, the hand of the king, the collector and the queen) across multiple runs for one last charge against the god who ruined up their lives
The part about DLC themed with other games really shows how tacked on they felt. Great summary tho.
Agreed. Also, as an aside, I was so disappointed when The Queen and the Sea DLC came out and there were like... No lore rooms. Big bummer for me.
Still fun though!
Thanks for watching!
I watch A LOT of lore videos, and this has to be the coolest story I've seen in a while. Thanks for it! You've got a sub in me.
See I loved deadcells but the lore aspect was something that always irked me, like literally I didn’t even get half the war rooms throughout my run so it’s nice to see someone did it all cohesively
Great work as always, always love these videos
I'm so glad you were able to explain the entire plot of the game, as it has been my major inspiration for my arts and one of my most favorite games!!! Solid video man, love it very much :)
However, I am still scratching my head behind the origins or development of the health flask.
Happy to see another Squatch video pop up.

(do note that I have not played Dead Cells in a while so maybe there is evidence but you didn't show it)
At 11:38 you mentioned an order to keep people in prison after they were proven to be healthy, although the dialogue only mentions them serving their time, which seems to me like it's just talking about prisoners being kept in prison for some time because that's how prison works in most places, people usually serve time in prison, then are freed.
Other things:
At 32:36 in 5BC you can have malaise infection though can't you ?
At 33:48 you did not really explain how cells seemed to magically appeared in chests and all, seems you tried to say it like it just happened leaving only questions with no theory on how or why, same with Boss Stem Cells, which I mean could just be noncanon or something, same with the crossover weapons and skills.
35:40 you didn't really explain the rune you gain there, which is kinda very important for 48:04
43:20 you make it seem like the Giant cannot be fought before 4BC, you don't say it - and do imply that it's not needed by later talking about how something special happens at 4BC - but the way you tell the story is confusing.
(oops-)
Oh, also, side note, this may seem like a lot but overall I'd say this video is really good.
"Royal Court" probably wasn't the best words to use, but they did have an association with the King
11:38 - To me, the message "even after they have served their time" means to not let any prisoners leave, period.
Or something like that
33:48 - That's because there's nothing out there about it!
Happy to hear you enjoyed!

I've been trying to figure out the lore for a long time. Thanks for this.

Yall I just realized something: 1. FINALLY......my favourite unhinged the Beheaded suffering being told
Just seeing this video has made my day, niw it's time to finally watch it :)
What an epis story!🔥🔥
Kamu menceritakan cerita game ini dengan sangat baik. Saya tidak akan menontonnya hingga akhir sampai saya bisa menamatkan dead cells itu sendiri.
Good jod bro👍🔥🔥
The Story doesnt exactly end where you said it does: the 2 versions of the king merged into one and broke the time Keepers messed up (when everything got glitchy)
- After that, the glitches stopped and when slashing through the enemies in the now ongoing original time loop the 2 merged kings sometimes talk to each other which is highlighted with diffrent colours of the text bubbles (blue and red) when the king sometimes talks to himself
Now I dont know if that means He broke the time keepers loop entirely and redoing All the runs is just for the Sake of being able to have gameplay still going on OR if He is actually still trying to escape the loop
Otherwise great video - even noticed a few things extra that i didnt realize After playing this for like, what.. 350hrs? Good Job:D
Glad I can experience this.
I Loved Dead Cells, but I just cannot get past 1 cell or a few of the optional, tougher routes.
What build is that in the Dracula fight, that was disgusting damage
YES! Finally some Dead Cells LLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRE!!!!
MatPat would be proud! 🤩
sorry if I am wrong, but is it just me or the video is basically all the previous video combine together with extra stuff?
Yeah, the story hasn’t fundamentally changed, so if you’ve watched the old stuff, this won’t include anything groundbreaking. But it does put everything in order while adding new stuff. I guess you could call it a “Definitive Edition” of sorts.
At least I didn’t just chop up my old videos, splice them into a new one, and upload that. That would have sucked. Lol.
Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
wait only thing i didnt understand was what was the deal with the half spider half lady in the forgotten sepulcher? you didnt mension her
I don’t really have a lot on her. When she first meets the King, she says he’s the Anomaly that “She” mentioned. The “She” is probably the Time Keeper and the “Anomaly” part is probably referring to the King’s resistance to being reset like the rest of the Island whenever the Time Keeper does her time shenanigans. That’s really the best I’ve got
Hope you enjoyed!

Ive beat this game so many times all i get is theirs a king and someone was experimenting on alot of dead dudes ah nice so i got the important bits

@@SquatchGamingChannel Keep at it, you'll make it, I'll be here for the whole ride, I always enjoy and return to the content, it's absolutely beautiful. Keep strong, man.
Dead Cells might have one of the most interesting lore out of any game I've played. And I kind of like that Us, the character we play as, isn't the stereotypical selfless hero and is a dick. It's a nice change of pace.
damn never knew i was playing AS THE KING this game truly is GOTY material
Love this channel
I never knew this games lore was awesome. Ama buy this game
You should cover the story of Stasis Bone Totem
Great video, now I can turn off lore rooms in the settings XD
Thank you for explaining everything
We're so back now.
Also, hey, do you think you could cover Rogue Legacy 1 and 2 lore? there's no Lore video about it on YT and the lore seems deeper than what you find on first look
I've heard of the games, but never knew there was a lot of lore in it. I took a quick look, and it looks like you're right: there does seem to be more there than you would think. Are the two games linked at all? Or are they independent stories?
@@SquatchGamingChannel Not completely sure about it, there are NPCs that are present in both games, but it does seem to be different stories since the concept of different universes (threads) is present
STARTED!!!
No way the collabs from different games are canon 😭
Awesome vid, if you a chance, take a look at Fading Afternoon I need a breakdown of it's story
Many think that the King lost his empathy when he was turned into a homonculus, but I think it’s very possible that he probably never had any empathy to begin with.
insane video thx a lots
“2 clears on the games harfest difficulty”
Dies slowly inside as ive only done it once and that once was a god blessed run with 3 items that combo well together
Bruh I just watched your 3 year old lore video and I got the same question for u .WHU WON the fight between the present beheaded and the loophole glich beheaded please man I beg you 🎉🎉🎉🎉😢😢😮 say it I am very curious
Idk. I guess we’ll have to wait until Dead Cells 2 to find out!
There’s a fourth servant if I remember correctly.
Can you do a story of this games. And i really enjoyed you're story explained videos.
Iconoclast
Genopanic
Axiom Verge 1&2
Thank you, Darkblu! Happy to hear you enjoy them so much!
As for the games:
1. I actually have a script and lots of shots recorded for a video on Iconoclasts. I even recorded audio at one point last year, but it got corrupted, so I had to scrap it and I haven’t gone back to it since. It’s on the backlog though, and I’ll probably make a video on it sooner or later!
2. I’ve never heard of Genopanic. I took a look at it, and I really like the look of it! I don’t think I’ll ever make a video on it, but I might play it at some point!
3. I’ve thought about doing the Axiom Verge games, but there’s not a lot of requests for them, so I haven’t started the process.
Thanks for the requests, Darkblu! I can’t get to all of them, but I do keep them in mind when deciding which games to make videos on!
My body is ready
Im stuck on killing the giant, and after watching multiple tutorials I still don't know how to get fifth boss cell 😭😭
